And who decides when, you, dh, dc?

OP posts:
nokidshere · 30/07/2016 10:32

In the summer sometimes twice a week on the way home from training or matches because we are out more than we are in. In the winter maybe once a fortnight usually instigated by teens, or sometimes me if I can't be bothered to cook. DH never eats takeaway even if the rest of us are having it.

LowAMH · 30/07/2016 10:41

Rarely but we do eat out a lot

retainertrainer · 30/07/2016 10:45

Every Saturday-I don't drink or smoke, DH doesn't smoke and only has an occasional pint. We don't have any baby sitters readily available so we rarely go out. Our Saturday night takeaway is a well earned, much looked forward to treat. How sad Grin

StarlingMurmuration · 30/07/2016 10:50

DP used to get one every week, but has recently been getting what we call "fakeaways" from Tesco to save a bit of money. I never get one as I'm not keen on any of our local takeaways. We do eat out fairly regularly - once a fortnight or so.

Timetogrowup2016 · 30/07/2016 11:05

Once a month. Joint decision.
Normally pizza or kebab

Roussette · 30/07/2016 11:23

Why's that? I'm greedy and couldn't turn one down but most takeaways to me, I always wish I hadn't had it after I've had it, if that makes sense

EreniTheFrog · 30/07/2016 13:01

Hardly ever, but I want one now!

Bear2014 · 30/07/2016 13:11

Once or twice a fortnight, always after 2.5 yo DD is in bed because it's always spicy. Thinking about trying her on some Chinese one time soon though.

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2016 13:13

Once a week

No-one decides really. It's just something we've always done on a Friday or Saturday.

SarcasmMode · 30/07/2016 13:13

IT varies so much.

Anything from 2 times in a week to once a month. I'd say on average every 10 days to fortnight.

Not a lot of selection round here though.

It varies on who suggests it.

daisypond · 30/07/2016 13:15

Never - for cost reasons. But I do occasionally buy a sandwich for lunch at work, though I usually make one and take it with me. Does that count?

mrsmugoo · 30/07/2016 13:17

Once if twice a fortnight. Usually fish & chips if shared with DS or sushi if it's just us.

Bobochic · 30/07/2016 13:25

We have been eating far more takeaways than usual, due to being exceptionally busy with a couple of housemoves and constant travelling - there is no time to shop/cook. We also have a truly fantastic Italian deli near our new home whose repertoire we haven't yet exhausted Grin

ShelaghTurner · 30/07/2016 13:27

We go through phases but generally it's roughly once a month. Always mine or the dds' idea. DH wouldn't suggest a takeaway if it was the last option on earth. And half the time he won't have it. So last night we had a chippy tea but he didn't.

OppositeOfGenius · 30/07/2016 13:27

We used to have at least one a week, plus the occasional McDonalds. I then did a spreadsheet laboriously adding up everything we'd spent in the last 12 months from both our accounts, and worked out we'd spent about £1,100 on them Shock. Since then - just one in the heatwave when we couldn't cook...

SueTrinder · 30/07/2016 13:32

Rarely. Once every 3-4 months. Joint decision. I'd rather eat home cooked food (take food into work every day as well). Not a cost issue particularly although it always amazes me how much fish and chips cost.

augustusglupe · 30/07/2016 13:35

I hardly ever do now... DH has an Indian around once a month.

Ni58 · 30/07/2016 14:11

How much do you spend on a takeaway? Where we live, you can easily get Chinese, Indian, sushi, kebabs or pizza delivered for less than £10 (enough for a family of 3 or 4). We probably spend a bit more than that because we get a range of side dishes and starters. We can never finish it all though.

Gingersdohavesouls · 30/07/2016 14:20

Once or twice a week usually. Most of the time it's bcoz I'm in a lot of pain with my back and can't stand to cook for long, but sometimes it'll be bcoz my daughter has friends over and it works out cheaper.

yellowbirdie · 30/07/2016 15:19

Takeaways once every 3 months. I'd rather eat out than order a takeaway which we do about 1-2 a fortnight. The children don't like take aways so it's just for us. I always think they are so expensive. We do have Cook meals for one almost weekly. Usually because we don't want what the children are having and one of us it out for the evening.

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2016 15:23

Ni58 ours comes to about £17...normally for Chinese, Indian or fried chicken.

That's for 4 adult appetites (DC are teengers), but we don't go OTT with the ordering of dishes.

Pizza costs more though because I only like Pizza Hut.

ladyformation · 30/07/2016 15:29

Probably once every 3-4 months. We go out to eat shamefully frequently, though.

IslaSinga · 30/07/2016 15:42

Almost never have take aways - every 4/5 months. Occasionally pizza when the kids have friends over or curry when family visit.

Bryt · 30/07/2016 16:03

About 3 times per year. We can cook better Chinese and Indian food than our local takeaways provide so we tend to have fish and chips as a treat or get a take away in a needs must situation.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 30/07/2016 16:31

Never.

We eat out regularly though. I'm a good cook and can cook a better curry than a take away. Grin
