And who decides when, you, dh, dc?

OP posts:
AmyInTheBoonies · 29/07/2016 20:47

Once or twice a year - on our birthdays!

AppleJac · 29/07/2016 20:48

We used to have it twice a week usually dh choice to have one.

But we are both dieting from the last 6 weeks so we havent had any and saved a fortune!

It was £15 a time when we ordered.

iMatter · 29/07/2016 20:51

Probably twice a year, if that.

But we live in the back of beyond so have to drive about 12 miles to get one.

BettyDraper1 · 29/07/2016 21:00

hardly ever (maybe every four to six months). However, if we are the move (in an airport, on a long journey, etc.) then part of the fun is stopping to get a burger or something. But just as an everyday thing, we'll get a Chinese maybe every six months like I say. Thinking of getting one tomorrow as it happens!

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 29/07/2016 21:01

Hardly ever as the ones that deliver here aren't very nice - much to my annoyance!

Where we used to live we had 'regular orders' of very good food, not overly expensive. I miss it.

BettyDraper1 · 29/07/2016 21:05

I understand what people are saying about their cooking being better. That's why I always think an Indian (in particular) is a waste of money. However, I think it's really hard - for me at least- to recreate a Chinese takeaway. I can cook it, and it's fine but it's always missing 'something'.

Shed loads of salt and msg Grin

PurpleDaisies · 29/07/2016 21:21

And don't forget the excess oil/ghee dame.

BikeGeek · 29/07/2016 21:33

Never, no coeliac friendly takeaways here

YorkieDorkie · 29/07/2016 21:35

Used to be once a month but we've not had one in a couple of months thinking about it... Usually DH's decision to have one and we like our curry house or the local fish and chip shop.

BettyDraper1 · 29/07/2016 21:42

Unfortunately, I think you must be right Dame! If I managed to replicate their cooking, i'd probably never eat it again.

DownstairsMixUp · 29/07/2016 21:42

Once or twice a month. I intiate as I cook mainly but both agree.

delilahbucket · 29/07/2016 21:43

Usually twice a month. Always a last minute decision when it's been a long day and too tired to cook or one/both of us has been out and got back late. Ds (8) doesn't get to decide, it is always between me and dp. Ds would have a takeaway every day given the option!

whirlygirly · 29/07/2016 21:48

2-3 times a month. We live in the takeaway triangle - an Indian, Thai and Chinese within sniffing distance - literally. It's a bloody battle of wills not to have one every day. And then there's pizza express further down the street.. Grin

dementedma · 29/07/2016 21:51

Once a month max. It's too expensive and not that nice to be honest

HungryHorace · 29/07/2016 21:55

Rarely. Probably a few times a year, I suppose. Having kids decreased our entertainment budget, which includes takeaway!

We do eat out every now and then though, so it's not always one of us cooking. Thank god! Smile

JuanTime · 29/07/2016 21:56

Bout once a month, usually if we are knackered

PeppermintPasty · 29/07/2016 21:59

Never.

I live in Cornwall.

The end.

PuntasticUsername · 29/07/2016 22:03

About once a month. Normally as a treat at the weekend, though occasionally during the week if it's been a shit day and there's nothing quick and easy to cook in the fridge, or if one of us just really fancies takeway randomly. DH and I are equally likely to suggest it.

We also bet ever year on the outcome of the Boat Race, loser buys takeway of the winner's choice. We do this formally in remembrance of DH's lovely grandparents, as they did this every year for the whole of their (very long) marriage.

Probably once a month I think. Normally my suggestion (as I'm the one who has to cook otherwise).

PeppermintPasty · 29/07/2016 22:15

Yeah Wizard, collecting a takeaway from 20, 40 or 60 miles away kind of puts you off doesn't it?!
And as for delivery

JohnLithgowsLargeForehead · 29/07/2016 22:17

Probably averages at once every two weeks, but don't eat out. There's no beating an Indian curry! As others have said, probably due to all the fat and salt/sugar Wink

This thread is great. There was one months ago asking the same thing and 90% of posters said rarely! I felt like a pig Grin

Hassled · 29/07/2016 22:20

Once a fortnight or so and I decide. I used to let people take turns but it all went to shit so often that the DCs have lost the right to be involved. Plus I do the cooking the rest of the time so it makes sense that I choose the non-cooking night meal.

Heyheyheygoodbye · 29/07/2016 22:22

About once a fortnight although I more often than not have a secret Maccies once a week! Shock
