And who decides when, you, dh, dc?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/07/2016 20:18

Maybe twice a year if that. I'd rather spend money having lunch or a coffee.

GetAHaircutCarl · 29/07/2016 20:19

We go through phases of ordering a regular Friday night delivery, then we don't for ages.

Our usual deliveries are Chinese, Thai or Indian. We always collect fish and chips when we get home from a trip.

Cantusethatname · 29/07/2016 20:19

I used to like an Indian or Chinese takeaway but really don't any more. So almost never as I always put on a sour face when it's suggested.

SaggyNaggy · 29/07/2016 20:21

One a month.
But lately we've been going to the pizza hut buffet instead. Grin

timelytess · 29/07/2016 20:21

I've had two in the last month, which is more than I had in the year prior to that.

Roussette · 29/07/2016 20:22

Rarely. I honestly feel I can cook better if I can be arsed

Fish and chips once every 6 months.

Indian ocasionally

Chinese never - it's revolting round here, so full of salt and makes me feel ill along with the wine!

Ezzie29 · 29/07/2016 20:22

Varies, we have Chinese about once a month, these days it's usually my suggestion as our favourite place is expensive so I usually treat us (me and my mum) on payday. My mum tends to suggest fish and chips once a week (usually on a Monday) for a few weeks in a row before I get too fed up of fish and chips, I think she would have it every week otherwise.
We don't get any other kind of takeaway as mum doesn't like Indian or Thai and there aren't really any other takeaway options here.

Andrewofgg · 29/07/2016 20:23

Once a week, Thai, we agree the day between us. And it's not a take-away, it's a delivery.

ittooshallpass · 29/07/2016 20:24

Very rarely... twice a year-ish. Have never had one that i'd rush back for...

Mol1628 · 29/07/2016 20:24

Maybe once a fortnight. More if the boys are being difficult and I can't be bothered to cook and clean up.

StrawberryQuik · 29/07/2016 20:24

Once or twice a month, joint decision.
My favourite is Indian but DH isn't as keen so I usually get it when DM visits as she likes it too.

thenightsky · 29/07/2016 20:25

About twice a year.

We seem to have started a family tradition of having takeaway curry on Boxing Day.

Chocfish72 · 29/07/2016 20:25

4-5 times a year at most. we are not in the uk so fish suppers are not an option. Sushi is our big treat these days - expensive, and not something I'd attempt to replicate at home (yet). Indian, Thai, Chinese - home made tastes better.

finova · 29/07/2016 20:28

Too often...twice a week.
Pre kids when I lived alone I didn't have a single one for 2 years!

GetAHaircutCarl · 29/07/2016 20:29

For those saying home made tastes better - well yes, of course.

But the point of a delivery/takeaway is not having to cook or even think. And of course you over order so there's loads of choice.

For example when I make Indian food, I usually make one main dish and one side. But when we order out we order a selection of starters and lots if mains/sides.

Its daft but there you goGrin.

milpool · 29/07/2016 20:31

GetAHaircutCarl exactly - and for those 45 minutes you're waiting for it to arrive you can just lie down on the sofa rather than fannying about in the kitchen.

And I can order my takeaway right now while I'm feeding DD to sleep.

I love cooking, don't get me wrong, but I know I can't make chicken with ginger and spring onion as nice as my local takeaway so I'm not even gonna try Grin

Roussette · 29/07/2016 20:31

I love indian takeaway but don't live near one and CBA to be honest. When the DCs come home we get a banquet Grin

gingercat02 · 29/07/2016 20:32

Pretty much every Friday. Tonight's is just being ordered (Indian)

I could have two or three in a week and then not think about take always for months.
Frozen pizzas are my unhealthy downfall probably I would have one weekly.

ivykaty44 · 29/07/2016 20:40

Probably four times a year, either fish and chips or Chinese

Gwenhwyfar · 29/07/2016 20:41

Never. If I want a nice food experience I eat out. If I just don't want to cook I have a sandwich or a pizza or a ready meal. If I'm paying extra for my food, why not have it in nice surroundings? Different if you have small kids of course.

happypoobum · 29/07/2016 20:43

About six times a year. But I love cooking, I find it restful and therapeutic.

frankie001 · 29/07/2016 20:43

At least once a week. I've just had sushi. Was yummy.

GetAHaircutCarl · 29/07/2016 20:44

gwyn eating out ( which we do a lot) is as different from take away as home made.

Each have their own merits.

What take away has going for it is eating effortlessly while watching the telly.
