AIBU: clothes horse

So me and DP are currently rennovating our new house, and last night randomly had a conversation about the stuff that we currently have that we will not need and can donate to good will..
We currently live in a small one bed flat with no garden so have a clothes horse and a tumble dryer, (Dryer for the big bits like Jeans and bedding etc every thing else on the clothes horse)
In the new house there will be a garden with a clothes line and some where for the tumble dryer to go. So have said that the clothes horse can be donated as we wont need it. because if it cant go out on the line due to horrid weather we can use the dryer.
DP then said no we need all three?? this is a clothes horse that is tall and wide enough to hold 4 loads of washing, AIBU to say that we could get rid of it?? Hmm

OP posts:

In my last house we had the pulley up Sheila maid do dah above the Aga which really was the ultimate drying machine.

In my current house the ceiling is too low.

And Shock at drying jeans in the tumble drier. That is wrong on every level.

OnTheTurningAway · 27/07/2016 16:16

ILostIt I'm wondering if it might be more sensible to pick up a smaller, cheap maiden from Asda after your move?

Perhaps the DP rather likes OP though, and doesn't want to swop her for a younger model?

Narcy That's a sheila's maid, apparently.

The possibilities for innuendo and double entendre are endless! I give you: Exit In my last house we had the pulley up Sheila maid do dah...

Yay to my heated airer - best thing ever!

Notimefortossers · 27/07/2016 17:14

Maui :)

Most boring post ever?! Lol

Applesetsail:
You are being ridiculous and clearly intent on winding someone up. Oh dear, how immature you seem.

FankEweVeryMuch · 27/07/2016 17:44

You need a clothes horse, we have two and a big washing line.

FankEweVeryMuch · 27/07/2016 17:45

Oh and it's a 'Lazy Daisy'

tofutti · 27/07/2016 17:49

AIBU has been soooo dull recently, and this is the icing on the boring cake.

OP, keep the clothes horse. Tumble dryers are expensive to use and can break down.

BerylStreep · 27/07/2016 17:56

I just got the wall mounted heated airer from Lakeland. I was so excited at the prospect, but actually it was a bit crap.

attsca · 27/07/2016 18:06

My most important drying aid is an old velour sofa that you can dry t shirts on. If you stretch them across the arms while they are still damp they dry a size larger. Magic.

BasinHaircut · 27/07/2016 18:11

I just use my clothes horse outside instead of a line. That way I can hang it all up right in front of the washing machine then carry it outside. Then if I can't be fucked to deal with it once it's dry just bring the bastard back inside and leave till whenever.

Also when it rains as a pp says it's easier to just bring the horse back in than get everything's unpegged.

Only downside is it doesn't dry as quickly or as nicely as it doesn't get blown about. Apart from when it blows over.

ClopySow · 27/07/2016 18:45

I want that clothes horse so bad.

2nds · 27/07/2016 18:48

I have two clothes horses and a outside line and I wouldn't be without the clothes horses

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 27/07/2016 19:26

Basinhaircut wins the thread with the best name for a clothes horse, the bastard Grin

Coulddowithanap · 27/07/2016 19:28

I'd keep it

ShatnersBassoon · 27/07/2016 19:34

FFS, don't rush into making a rash decision. And don't trust strangers to seal its fate.

This is a clothes horse. Baby, think twice Sad

gingerboy1912 · 27/07/2016 19:39

Definitely keep the clothes horse. I have two and a tumble dryer and a rotary line and use all of it regularly

Cutecat78 · 27/07/2016 19:41

After ten years in my house my dad put up a retractable washing line in my tiny garden and hooks so it can zig zag across my garden.

I am so thrilled Grin

LyndaNotLinda · 27/07/2016 19:44

A tumble dryer costs at most £2 a week to run. In time saved to peg out washing, bring it back in if it looks like rain etc, that's good value.

PovertyPain · 27/07/2016 19:55

I just want yo know if the maiden isn't always known as a maiden, does that mean it's gender fluid?

pigsDOfly · 27/07/2016 19:59

I bought a Minky rotary dryer/airer a while ago. I love it. It's smaller than a normal rotary dryer but still big enough to dry sheets and towels on. It isn't fixed in the ground so can be used either in the garden or in the house.

I haven't used my tumble dryer since. Would highly recommend it.

ShatnersBassoon · 27/07/2016 19:59

It's a sodding winter hedge. Sex that.

raviolidreaming · 27/07/2016 20:02

hand all washing duties over to DH, explain specifically that certain items cannot go in dryer.Watchand laughat how he gets on trying to get clothes dry that can't go in dryer, and cant go on line as it rains all the the bastard time. He will ask for the airer/maiden/horse back in 2 weeks - bet you

Seems a bit harsh, e1y1, seeing as it's the OP's DP who wants to keep the airer/maiden/horse!

caffeine99 · 27/07/2016 20:39

BerylStreep Is that wall
Mounted heated drier really crap?

I'd been eyeing that up enviously for a while now.

Can anyone confirm whether the free standing heated driers from are any good or not?

And why can't you dry jeans in the tumble dryer? I dried a whole load of jeans in my tumble dryer earlier today and was so pleased with myself!
