So me and DP are currently rennovating our new house, and last night randomly had a conversation about the stuff that we currently have that we will not need and can donate to good will..
We currently live in a small one bed flat with no garden so have a clothes horse and a tumble dryer, (Dryer for the big bits like Jeans and bedding etc every thing else on the clothes horse)
In the new house there will be a garden with a clothes line and some where for the tumble dryer to go. So have said that the clothes horse can be donated as we wont need it. because if it cant go out on the line due to horrid weather we can use the dryer.
DP then said no we need all three?? this is a clothes horse that is tall and wide enough to hold 4 loads of washing, AIBU to say that we could get rid of it?? Hmm

I'd keep it.

QED....... 😂😂😂

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 27/07/2016 12:46

Yes chough has all the makings of a bunfight... Wait till someone asks how 'horse' is pronounced and the non-rhotic speakers will pile in...

WibblyWobblyJellyHead · 27/07/2016 12:46

We have a tumble dryer (which we never use), a rotary dryer in the garden and two clothes horses.

This may be my most boring post ever

BorpBorpBorp · 27/07/2016 12:47

I would say you need a clotheshorse, but not necessarily the same enormous clotheshorse. You might need to air your clothes after they've come out of the dryer, air your clothes if they're still a little damp after they've been on the line, or dry things indoors on a rainy day that are not tumbleable, dry things that need to be dried flat and so can't go on the line, or dry things indoors in bad weather if your tumble dryer breaks.

PuppyMonkey · 27/07/2016 12:49

There are loads of things you shouldn't really put in tumble dryer. You need a clothes horse too or one of them smaller rack things that fits over a radiator.

I love a laundry thread. Blush

FlyingElbows · 27/07/2016 12:51

If you've got a clothes horse that can hold four loads of washing then keep it. Assuming it fits in the house!

nuttymango · 27/07/2016 12:51

The clothes horse is so useful to put out in your garden when it's sunny, if you aren't drying clothes on it then you can hang a plethora of bird feeders on it so it's multi-purpose and isn't going to waste. As if that's not enough you can dry paintings and home made spaghetti on it :)

PinkissimoAndPearls · 27/07/2016 12:51

For those posters saying that it's a boring thread, what does that say about those of us (including said posters HmmWink) who actually saw the thread title and clicked on it??

Ooh, a maiden clothes horse thread, yay Smile

PuppyMonkey · 27/07/2016 12:53

£1.99 from Home Bargains.

AIBU: clothes horse
FakeTwinkle · 27/07/2016 12:54

@Dementedpixie that is the exact one that we have just think its excessive having all three may try and persuade him to get a smaller one, am in South East and have always called them a Clothes Horse.

Woollen jumpers need a clothes horse, regardless of what you call it

yumyumpoppycat · 27/07/2016 12:55

Keep the clothes horse!

How can someone read just on post and proclaim it the most boring thread ever...give it a chance laundry is a divisive subject.

chough · 27/07/2016 12:57

Pinkissimo, a very fair comment.
I'm even checking back here to check on clothes horse/ maiden developments.

Abraiid2 · 27/07/2016 12:57

Stop the cheque.

soupey1 · 27/07/2016 12:58

There are always things that can't be tumbled or just need to be finished off after being on the line - you need a clothes horse.

OOAOML · 27/07/2016 12:58

Can you actually get 4 loads on it though? I'd definitely keep it anyway, it looks like it will fold really narrow. We have a concertina one and a Lakeland heated airer. Our new flat will have a pulley which I am somewhat over-excited about and is offsetting my stresses about the move.

Figgygal · 27/07/2016 12:59

Im from North Scotland and yup they are clothes horses to me too.

I have a tumble drier it is used couple times a year only seriously don't rely on it they are bad for your washing and expensive. You will need the clothes drier for when weather bad and you cant get things outside.

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/07/2016 12:59

I have a tumble dryer
A wooden clothes horse
A proper Sheila Maid or whatever they are called
A whirligig in the garden
Radiator hanging dryer thingies

Am I overdoing it?

dementedpixie · 27/07/2016 13:04

I also have one like this and it is better for items like jeans, trousers, jumpers, etc

MatildaTheCat · 27/07/2016 13:05

I have all three. But jeans in the drier Shock ? Are you actually mad ?

Actually in almost 30 years of marriage I can safely say that the worst argument we ever had was over the position of the washing line in our new garden I won, obviously so these laundering matters should not be spoken of lightly Grin .

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 27/07/2016 13:07

Well I have THREE clothes horses, two radiator hangy things, a garden twirly washing line thing, and a tumble drier.

Never throw it away unless you haven't got the room. One day you'll need it when its raining and you're washing 200 muslins and 3000 babygros. A day.

pillowaddict · 27/07/2016 13:07

Another one here with a garden with clothes line, tumble dryer and clothes horse AND heated lakeland dryer! (only a family of 4 no idea why I appear to have a washing load that would do the entire street). Clothes horses are ideal for when it's one of those will it/won't it rainy days as for lazy people like me I can hang the clothes, stick em out and then bring them back in much quicker than having to faff around with pegs and line, so means they can even get half an hour of the lovely outdoorsy smell while not ruined if it pours. hurrah!

Mycatsabastard · 27/07/2016 13:08

I think the op is lying and it's actually a piece of gym equipment masquerading as a clothes horse.

If it is gym thing then get rid and get an actual clothes horse.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 27/07/2016 13:08

PS Don't wash cashmere in a washing machine. #basics
