901, by the way. We have crossed the final frontier and are on the home strait, coasting downhill! (How's that for a bunch of mixed metaphors!)

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 11:03

From now on, I will address you as toadflax, toadflax.

VanillaSugar · 06/08/2016 11:04

I dunno, I quite like Toadgirl as a name. It's edgy and states "I'm sodding beautiful me and as I have so much self-esteem, I can give myself a name with ugly connotations knowing full well that I can carry it off because I ROCK."

Of course, if you've got green hair and are covered in warts and smell a bit, then you might want to change your name. No offence.

something that was still a bit toady but incorporating something nice (and flowery)

Maybe that's the answer then. For some reason, we all called my brother 'toadflax' when we were kids. Still do, sometimes. Also, Mr Toad is my favourite character from Wind in the Willows.

Yes, I'm weird!

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 11:09

Well, I respect the right of the rest of you to call her by her former proper name, but I shall address her from now on (and on other threads) as toadflax or possibly the poster formerly known as toadgirl.

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 11:16

So you did the Parkrun, Vanilla? Was it strenuous? Are you knackered?

VanillaSugar · 06/08/2016 11:17

That's a mouthful. TPFKATG.....

5k around a reservoir. And yes, there were dogs. PB 32 mins -my feet ache and have gone all tingly. I can't decide whether I have overdone it or got diabetes.

OP posts:
Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 11:36

That's the reason I don't do anything strenuous on a Saturday morning - I don't want to get diabetes.

VanillaSugar · 06/08/2016 11:38

Lololol. Now about to walk into town with DH and get MIL a birthday present. Don't finish this thread without me!!!

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 11:52

No, don't worry - we'll wait for you and MrsTP. She'll still be slumbering.

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 11:57

the poster formerly known as toadgirl

A Prince reference? Very apt, as his death was the most upset I've ever been about a celebrity. I actually surprised myself! I think a lot of it had to do with part of my youth disappearing and all that psychobabble.

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 11:58

Vanilla

Good luck on the present-buying. Do you know what you're looking for?

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 12:00

Of course, if you've got green hair and are covered in warts and smell a bit, then you might want to change your name. No offence.

Made me laugh out loud!

I am not sure I am ageing well. There are some mornings when I look in the mirror and wish I was actually as pretty as a damned toad! That's how bad things are getting around here.

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 12:07

It's all coming together Grin

Just remembered one of Prince's jaunty little B-sides, "Horny Toad":-

Run, go tell your boyfriend his lovin' has got too old
He might as well pack his things
And get his dead ass on the road
Tell him you live on a lily pad
With a horny toad, whoa, yeah!

I expect Prince meant "horny" as in "randy", not "horny" as in "horned spikes" as in the case of the horned lizard which often gets called "horny toad".

PortiaCastis · 06/08/2016 12:19

I will not post anything until everyone is back online
Rather busy. 😍

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 12:29

I'm deeply impressed with your knowledge of reptiles and amphibians, toadflax.

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 15:54

I am one of those people who let spiders live in the house and give them names.

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 15:55

We can do this.

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/08/2016 16:16

Someone else on this thread did that as well, toad. Talcand Turnips had a spider called Krazy Klaud who lived by her front door. What is it about this thread that attracts weirdos? Grin

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 16:18

Great arachnid name!

I am just glad I have found my spiritual home in this thread - weirdos unite! Grin

toadgirl · 06/08/2016 16:26

I remember years and years ago reading a biography of Colette and she said her mother had a bedroom spider she swears used to lower itself down on its thread to have a little drink of her mother's hot chocolate every night!

VanillaSugar · 06/08/2016 16:56

Hello, I'm back! We bought MIL some L'Occitane stuff - well, DH did. I bought a jacket from Joules in the same then sat in the garden drinking Pimms. Might nod off nowźzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
