It helped - thanks better Grin

Gingersdohavesouls · 30/07/2016 14:51

So the Apocalypse was meant to happen yesterday?
Well it would of been my 7th wedding anniversary with my ex wife, so yeah sounds about right!

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 15:29

We now think it's going to happen this evening, Ginger but we're much more blase about it today.

Glad to have been of service before we all Meet our End, Flumplet.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/07/2016 16:00

Prepping for the end of the world or prepping for dinner? Dinner would be prepping. End of the world is Prepping.

I'm sure those MNers over in the Bunker would let us know if anything really bad was going down yoof parlance there.

thecatsarecrazy · 30/07/2016 16:26

Have you cancelled the cheque yet?

VanillaSugar · 30/07/2016 16:29

DS has just said Macbeth Macbeth Macbeth in the same way that you'd say CandyMan. I'll let you know what happens...

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 16:56

That's a worrying portent, Vanilla - unlucky Scottish play and all that. And I don't like the three-times repetition - that's definitely spooky. (Unless he's doing Shakespeare for A level and is using it as a swear word? )

LisaMed1 · 30/07/2016 17:37

Is it unlucky to say 'Lady Macbeth' to a person about to perform a play? Should you say, 'Lady Scottish Play'?

Actual true dilemma from a few weeks ago.

The church fair wasn't quite an apocalypse, but it may take me some gin time to recover

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 18:13

I don't know if there's a definite ruling on this but my feeling would be that the M word should be avoided in general before a performance of the Scottish play - just to ensure that no-one actually gets murdered during the performance by the substitution of a real dagger for a fake one. (See Midsomer Murders - "Death in Disguise" for cautionary tale.)

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 18:19

Eg, Lady Macbeth could referred to as "The Leading Lady" or "Her Ladyship" to avoid courting disaster. However, if the play is being staged tonight, I don't know if I'd bother since we're all doomed anyway.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/07/2016 18:32

Ooooo. Great minds. I was going to ask about Lady M as well. This thread is very informative and should definitely get to 1000 Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 19:11

I do feel our areas of expertise are steadily growing and that many MNers will be poring over this thread, slaking their thirst for knowledge.

VanillaSugar · 30/07/2016 19:29

The Scoooootis Play is being performed at Stratford this season and I shall take DD to see it.

Lisa - what was so very wrong about the church fete? It all looks such fun on the Vicar of Dibley and the like....

OP posts:
Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 19:43

And on Midsomer Murders (if you discount the inevitable carnage.)

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/07/2016 19:45

Perhaps there were vampires

LisaMed1 · 30/07/2016 20:34

VanillaSugar It isn't like the Vicar of Dibley at our church.

Actually, there are some lovely people who really believe in God. However there were issues about the tombola and the hook a duck had gone missing.

LisaMed1 · 30/07/2016 20:58

Maybe the duck had gone to join the apocalypse

VanillaSugar · 31/07/2016 00:20

We've just been to see the new Matt Damon film and now DH is running round the house pretending to be Jason Bourne. FML.

OP posts:
LisaMed1 · 31/07/2016 00:26

I'd do Jason Bourne in the first film. Not sure about the others. Is it any good?

VanillaSugar · 31/07/2016 09:05

It is,however I like all of them even though it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Alicia Vikander's contouring is awesome. I spent most of the film looking at her highlighter.

How's your thread going? Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 31/07/2016 12:00

Only another 727 posts to go, toadgirl! Doable, I should think? Unless Apocalypse intervenes, obviously.

Noonesfool · 31/07/2016 12:11

I just lost...

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/07/2016 15:16

Secret Life of Pets yesterday with DD. A psychotic bunny is the very pinnacle of comedy, it turns out.

toadgirl · 31/07/2016 15:22

Even if Apocalypse intervenes, I for one would be more than happy to spend my last minutes/hours repeatedly posting to this thread to help you hit that 1000 before the end of all things Grin
