Bit of backstory: I've lost a huge amount of weight in the last year and a bit, over 4 stone since having my second child.

Fast forward to yesterday, i'm on the 5th date with this guy i like a lot. We were by a lake looking at the fish and talking about fishing. He said that the largest (some type of fish) caught was 110pound, about the same weight as me he said. This is how the conversation followed.

"wow. You know my weight?"
He did a visual appraisal/looked me up and down.
"Yeah I'd say you were about 110, 10-10 1/2 stone."
I raise my eyebrows in surprise.
"11? 11 1/2?! he continues.
"Try 9 stone." I said, actually just dropped below the past 2 mornings.
"Really? You must be light boned." He looks genuinely shocked.
"That's what the scales say, unless they're dodgy."
He genuinely made a noise of agreement?!

I'm quite upset really.. i was feeling really low in confidence and self conscious yesterday anyway. I know he probably just suffers from foot in mouth syndrome but i can't help feeling sad about his comments.

Or even date 5

TinklyLittleLaugh · 25/07/2016 15:23

I have only known one slaughterman. He was a total psycho. Mind you, compared to all the other slaughterman he told me tales about, he was quite a mild psycho.

Not helpful sorry OP.

CalleighDoodle · 25/07/2016 16:08

I actually read an article on people who work in slaughterhouses yesterday, saying they are more likely to be involved in violent crime than people on a similar grade who work in factories, becomming desensitised to violence.

That aside, carrying an axe in the car is not legal and is ridiculous. In the boot? How does that help in a carjack situation? It just doesn't. It is very weird.

Also, telling you he is blunt is telling you he is rude and youve to just deal with it because that is who he is.

Keep looking.

MySordidCakeSecret · 25/07/2016 16:11

no sorry. I said wow. pause.. then the "you know my weight?" the emphasis was on the word weight i was asking sceptically because i was surprised he was bringing my weight into it.

I agree with Fanjo.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/07/2016 16:16

Yes I meant 5

RoseGoldHippie · 25/07/2016 22:59

'the light bones comment was said with total sincerity!'

Yes this is because he thinks you weigh like 90lbs -
Remember he has held 110 lbs so I think his brain went on holiday for a moment and thought there were 10 lbs in a stone. I really don't think he meant you must weigh 140/50+ lbs as he compared the weight of THAT 110lb fish to you!

Congrats on the weight loss though!! 4stone is hard graft! Especially when you are not too heavy to begin with!! (obvs I'm assuming your not like 4ft! 😉)

Crunchymum · 25/07/2016 23:05

So 110lb isn't 7st 8lb. It's 7.8st which is 7st 12lb.

Fuck me this is complicated... not that I'll ever have to worry about being 110lb Grin

daducky88 · 17/07/2017 22:03

What is 110lb in stone?
14lb per stone
110/14 = 7.857
Ie 7 stone and 857ths of a stone or in other words 0.857 of 14lbs.
O.857x14 =12
So 110lbs in stone is
7 st 12 lb
So well done to you for your weight loss. But really the calc is bit hard to remember.
I,m an economist so it's alright for me :-) maths wise.
