AIBU?

To feel annoyed at DH showering twice a day

Apparently he needs one in the morning to feel fresh before work and one in the evening after being at work all day - this one I understand but surely after showering the night before and just sleeping there is no need for one in the morning? AIBU?

A grown man should be able to decide how many showers he wants in a day! This weather 2 is not excessive anyway.

My SIL gets up at 6 every morning just so she can spend 20 minutes in the shower every morning. It seems to me to be the maddest behaviour but she likes it.

Each to their own? unless he has 2x20 minute showers and you have a water meter in which case YANBU.

To be fair it's a hell of a lot better than my ex who showered once a week if that Confused!!

you would have more to complain about if he was a skanky soapdodger though, wouldn't you?
If you are working with other people a shower in the morning is essential.
Personally that is enough for me, but I am a bit of a secret slob.

Yes, I think you need to look at why this bothers you.

Waking the kids up would bother me, but I'd do something about the noise the shower makes, not get annoyed with the person using it.

I shower twice a day, sometimes more if hot/cold. No ones business but mine.

Maybe you'd prefer the husband that wanks into socks and stashes them under the bed? Honestly, you're annoyed because your husband likes to stay clean? Kden.

Well he isn't actually dirty in the morning, he hasn't done anything other than sleep!

I think it seems excessive unless it's very hot or he gets very sweaty at work.

These threads never go well on Mumsnet where everyone showers 3x a day.

If you live in a house with a water meter and prefer an average standard of cleanliness, YANBU.

Me, DH and our two DC shower twice a day,

And we are on a water meter, so every shower counts!

I shower 3 times a day at present.
Cycle to pool/gym - shower before I start/get in pool- sweaty after cycle ride
Shower after pool
At work all day
Cycle home
Shower
Your DH is clean and you are moaning!

I shower twice a day, partly due to exercise
Have had some three shower days this week due to weather
But if he is not in there for hours and costing you a fortune in water bills I can't see the problem

I don't take long to shower at all.

I shower twice a day and pretty much every ex flatmate and ex DP has had a whinge about it, saying its a waste of water or just finding it irritating, so you are not alone in your thinking OP.

Current DP doesn't mind a bit and it's very refreshing.

Healthy adults sweat a fair amount at night. I can't imagine going out without a shower every morning. At night it is so nice to get into bed fresh and clean after a busy day.

If he were having a workout or cycling then fine. But he isn't.

Each to their own OP, I d suggest him not to use soap everytime though as it's not good for the skin.
If the environment/waste of water is what bothers you, could you perhaps agree with him to have 5 min showers?

OP local water authority advise meters are best only for I person households. Do you have to have a meter?
Some people wake up feeling sweaty, and some just like the fresh wide awake feeling a morning shower gives them.

If you're struggling with the water and electricity bills, then YANBU.

Otherwise, yes, he should be able to shower as much as he likes without being made to feel extravagant, or too clean or whatever it is that annoys you.

Yabu
2 showers a day is perfectly normal.

It depends on what I'm doing and the weather. Sometimes, like now when it's hot, I'll shower in the morning and before I go to bed. In winter I may only shower every other day. Be kind to your dh, many men are very skanky and have poor hygiene.

blimey id be delighted if mine did this. i have a shower in the evening (who wants to go to bed covered in dirt and grime from public transport etc) and in the morning (who wants to go to work sweaty, half asleep, eyes full of sleep, covered in whatever bodily fluids from the night before :)).

I'm with him. Ask him to keep them.short if bills are an issue.

YABVU. I also shower twice a day in all seasons: are you saying that after having spent 6-8 hours in the same clothes (=pyjamas), or naked covered in a duvet one is as fresh-smelling as a lily and can put on clean clothes and go to work? Shock. Of course you need showering in the morning.
