To think that Prince George isn't all that.

I mean, he's cute and all- as much as any of our three year olds undoubtedly are. But it pisses me off when everyone fawns over him because he's supposedly sooooooo delicious and gorgeous when, actually, if he was flicking garlic bread at you from the next table at pizza express, he'd be as uncharming as anyone else's kid in the same scenario.

Nothing against him personally- I'm sure he is great. Just not any more or less great than anyone else's pre schooler.

OP posts:

To be fair, it's probably good that they start him young wearing ridiculously old-fashioned clothes. Once he starts at Eton, he'll be in waistcoats and tails.

thisisafakename · 24/07/2016 10:46

He is dressed very strangely but I thought it was all part of a security plan, so when he not on 'duty' they dress him like a normal child in the hope he's not recognised

Haha, no. That would be the expensive security that ensure he is kept safe when off duty. I also think they have an arrangement with the press to leave them and George alone in exchange for regular photos of him on birthdays and stuff. I do feel sorry for him- he did not ask to be born into this.

Eminybob · 24/07/2016 10:56

I feel sorry for his lack of privacy but he will get to do some awsome stuff that your average kid won't and he'll never have to worry about money.

LittleLionMansMummy · 24/07/2016 11:07

abbie the rest of my post said I believe even if I saw him walking down the street I'd still look - I genuinely think he's a lovely looking little boy. And it's actually quite rare for me to see a child I can't take my eyes off. I'm not a monarchist, and I don't see many other 'celebrity' children that make me look twice, so it's not the fact that he's in the public eye or is 'special' because he's royalty. He's genuinely cute and, imo, cuter than most children I see.

mzS1990 · 24/07/2016 11:22

I can't think of any other 'celeb' baby who is cuter or more handsome than George

bibbitybobbityyhat · 24/07/2016 11:57

Of course people are free to discuss the monarchy ad infinitum. Just don't hang it on an unpleasant comment about a toddler's looks.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 24/07/2016 11:59

"The fawning is nauseating"

What fawning?

Petal40 · 24/07/2016 11:59

All children are lovely...it's not his fault he's been born in to that family.bless him..

ailith · 24/07/2016 12:08

Some sort of child time-traveller?!
Brilliant comment. Lol

ailith · 24/07/2016 12:09

As for the "could eat him with a spoon" one - just OMG. Yuck

Lottielou7 · 24/07/2016 12:19

Bibbity, the op said

'Nothing against him personally- I'm sure he is great. Just not any more or less great than anyone else's pre schooler.'

I don't see anything whatsoever spiteful or goady about that. Just pointing out how senseless it is to worship rich but otherwise ordinary people.

ailith · 24/07/2016 12:22

Exactly.

Lottielou7 · 24/07/2016 12:31

'There's a lot of old ladies who will never be grandmothers for whatever reason (or have no contact with their biological GC). Some of them are absolutely fine with that, but some really aren't. I reckon Prince George is serving a valuable function as the Nation's Grandson.'

Hahahahahahaha - that's got to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in years (assuming it's not a joke) Perhaps I could phone up the queen and ask if she'd mind stepping in as my grandmother since all mine are dead. Oh, wait - I have a life Grin Grin Grin

EssentialHummus · 24/07/2016 12:37

I also think they have an arrangement with the press to leave them and George alone in exchange for regular photos of him on birthdays and stuff.

This is what I understood too. I think it's a sensible arrangement.

londonbridge28 · 24/07/2016 12:42

I have no interest in the royals or even for cutesy kids, but George is delish. He is a lovely looking boy, got a very mischievous look, very photogenic. Charlotte on the other hand I wouldn't look at twice. I say that as someone with a dc that looked like a drowned rat until the age of about 3.

londonbridge28 · 24/07/2016 12:46

I did read that George is dressed very ordinarily for days out to the park with his Nanny in order to disguise him a bit. Jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps etc. I'm sure there are a host of under cover security guards too.

I do wonder what life is like for the royal children. Do they have strops in the morning over clothing choices? One of my dc asked me recently if they watch CBeebies and wear character clothing. I told her possibly, but they probably aren't from Asda (or are they?)

BathshuaSpooner · 24/07/2016 12:51

What a cunty little thread, Op. Pretty odd to be jealous of a tiny boy.

Clandestino · 24/07/2016 12:52

TBH, I don't get the whole excitement and interest in the Royal Family at all. Like they are something special and more than others. Even the photos from Wimbledon. Look, Serena can't touch Kate! Where the fuck do we live, in the Middle Ages? What makes Kate so special except for her admirable ability to shut up and always look extremely presentable, unlike her counterpart who actually accomplished something really amazing with her life and the money she earns doesn't come from the taxes of other people?

Lottielou7 · 24/07/2016 12:56

I think that clearly, people only see what they want to see.

And on the point of the Royal family, it seems that for many common sense went out of the window and beyond.

Just5minswithDacre · 24/07/2016 12:59

Yes, everyone, please remember that MN exists to make lives easier, so let's help Kate M by not saying her kid isn't super cute. Fawn at all times.

Just5minswithDacre · 24/07/2016 13:07

OP what a shitty thread title; regardless of your stance on the royals themselves, you're encouraging people to chat shit about a 3 year old. Which is the maddest thing I've seen in a long time.

"Chat shit"? Chat shit!? Hmm

Is this an MN/NM merger? Tacky AND sweary? God help us.

I think OP is fairly obviously criticising the gushers not the child, anyway.

ilovesooty · 24/07/2016 13:11

I see him as an averagely attractive toddler who happens to be in the media because he's Royal. People can choose whether or not to be interested I suppose.

I'm rather bemused at the anger on this thread as I didn't interpret the OP as picking on the child personally.

WorraLiberty · 24/07/2016 13:12

If the OP was criticising the gushers and not the child, she wouldn't have chosen such a nasty thread title.

AppleSetsSail · 24/07/2016 13:14

I think he's very cute, just like most 3-year olds.

Just5minswithDacre · 24/07/2016 13:14

It's not a nasty thread title if you take it in the context of the OP.
