Come on mumsnet, how many of us are smokers? and a little about yourself, age, disposable income, history of drug/alcohol -abuse- use yadda yadda yadda...

Do you smoke around DC?

Detective Fast, I'm liking it. It's late, I've had wine. Please don't let me give too much info away to a stranger. Wink

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:24

Sorry I am avoiding that question myself, I hate talking about money.

I was just looking for a chat... Should have just asked if people buy cigs because they can afford to or despite the fact they can't really

OP posts:
Doinmummy · 20/07/2016 01:27

I have tried vaping and actually like it , I should dig my vap thingy out again.

I would love to give up , it's very psycological with me , if I go to my parents I don't even think about having a cig - my dad would go mad if he knew I smoked !!Blush as soon as I leave their house , I want one .

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:28

Super shallow but I physically cringe when I see people 'vaping'

OP posts:
FastWindow · 20/07/2016 01:29

bones plum doesn't smoke.

If she/he did, there wouldn't be all the questions. A smoker would already know the answers.

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:34

wrong again pal but thanks for sticking around Smile

OP posts:
lazybones77 · 20/07/2016 01:34

Fast I don't know. I would have asked the same questions a few weeks ago. Maybe not on MN though. Plum I only do it at home just now. I despise the vapers I see who can't let go of the vaporisers. I, probably really stupidly, thought seeing someone smoke a proper cigarette was better than seeing someone sucking on a vaporiser non stop. I've changed my mind but it'll take me a while before I do it in public.

lazybones77 · 20/07/2016 01:36

No problem with smoking in public though, mostly. Hey, I'm weird like that.

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:38

I shall get one for home then! Thanks for the suggestion

OP posts:
FastWindow · 20/07/2016 01:39

Ok then plum

I'm between 25-50. My disposable income is between £0-100,000. I was exposed to drugs at the age of 19-23. I don't smoke around DC.

Don't call me pal again.

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:40

someone needs a fag

Onesieisthequeensselfie · 20/07/2016 01:41

I smoke. I don't smoke. Whatever the clouds bring in...

lazybones77 · 20/07/2016 01:43

Give it a go Plum, you never know. But. Yeah. Patronising 'pal' comments to Fast when you asked a weird question is a bit below the belt. Listen, I've had wine so I'm all for us all being friends in the end. Let's not fall out over an MN post. Drunk pacifist. Just what we need here. Hmm

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:44

I apologise for patronising 'pal'. I was disgruntled by 'plum doesn't smoke'

OP posts:
lazybones77 · 20/07/2016 01:48

Actually, I take the 'weird post' back. I can understand, if you're being honest, that those questions are some of those I'd like to know about fellow smokers. AIBU is always hit or miss though. There is a stop smoking thread.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 20/07/2016 01:51

Come on mumsnet, how many of us are smokers?

Only after sex.

So 60 a day Wink

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 01:53

i just wanted to hear from everyone, smokers and non smokers - who they are and their reasons. A non-smokers perspective can be annoying but I'm at a point now where I want to hear it and some of these messages have really resonated with me

OP posts:
lazybones77 · 20/07/2016 01:59

You don't want to be asking non smokers Plum. You'll never win there. Wink

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 02:00

sorry for abusing AIBU Blush

OP posts:
lazybones77 · 20/07/2016 02:03

Don't be daft. It's not abuse but you'll be questioned about whatever you're asking. I don't think that's what you were after.

Garbadgeman · 20/07/2016 02:04

I'm 41, skint, 1 DC who is 7 and I've been off the fags (using an ecig) for 2.5 years. I did drugs a lot recreationally in my teens and twenties, ecstasy, speed, some coke and smoked weed habitually from the age of 16 until 3 years ago. Never smoked (fags or weed) around DC, only ever outside and gave up both for around a year through pregnancy and first couple of months of DC's life, started again during a bad patch with DH because smoking was my default reaction to stress. Feel completely free of it all now other than the ecig which seems a pretty minor vice compared to the rest, am sure some would slate me for my past but I'm proud of having beaten my addictions and feel good about where I am now. Have gained masses of weight since quitting fags so losing that is my current battle but it's one I'm confident I can win, I don't eat any more since quitting so just be aware of changes to your metabolism when you're no longer smoking and adjust portion sizes if you start to notice you're gaining weight, wish I'd realised earlier it was creeping on! Good luck OP, you've obviously overcome other hurdles and smoking is often the last to go, definitely worth it for the improvement to your health though, I finally feel 'clean' and it's a really good feeling Flowers

MeAndMy3LovelyBoys · 20/07/2016 02:10

Non smoker here.
And I'm so glad about it.

Thelobstereffect · 20/07/2016 03:23

Smoked for 2 years as a student; would go weeks without and then have a phase of several a day. That was a long time ago now. Stopped completely at beginning of final year. Then went through a couple of years of being a very, very occasional social smoker a few years ago (approx one a year, usually when at an annual party given by one particular friend). Stopped that too.

3 dc, who have obv never seen me smoke. Am a light drinker (and lightweight). Medium to decent income, enough money. Had a couple of brushes with weed in student days but it really ain't worth it IMO. Wouldn't ever have dreamed of using any other drugs.

Champagneformyrealfriends · 20/07/2016 04:31

28, stopped 5 years ago after 10 years of between 10 and 20 a day. Don't even smoke socially now and the thought of smoking makes me feel sick. Smoked weed occasionally as a teen, never tried anything else though. Enjoy a few wines but I wouldn't say I abuse it-hate being drunk unless it's the kind of mildly tipsy drunk and I'm with DH-don't go out drinking with my friends anymore in particular since having DD.
