Used to smoke then stopped but have had the odd pull of my partners roll up, smoked weed as well enjoy it wish it was legal so i could still smoke it without worrying that my kids will be taken. Age 22, not much disposable income as me and my partber dont work as we are carers for our youngest but live quite comfortably.

bloomburger · 20/07/2016 11:33

Only on Wednesdays with my cleaner. DH and DCs have no idea.

Am 41, plenty of disposable income.

Don't drink caffeine or alcohol and have tried weed once and thought it foul. Tried cocaine once and turned into a dribbling wreck and half an E at a party as a teen and didn't stop talking for 12 hours.

I'm not cut out for drug use!

justnotaballetmum · 20/07/2016 11:34

Ugh, no.

Neither has my friend and he's dying of lung cancer Sad he was a musician and played in smoky pubs.

Hate it.

WibblyWobblyJellyHead · 20/07/2016 11:41

I'm 36 and have smoked since I was 14. I've given up for periods of about a year at times but always come back to it.

Extensive history of drug and alcohol abuse I'm afraid.

Not as much disposable income as we should have but we get by.

PageStillNotFound404 · 20/07/2016 11:56

Lifelong non-smoker. Never tried it. One of my parents smoked 40 a day and that went a long way to putting me off. Then in my late teens I got a job in a bar pre-smoking ban and going home 4/5 nights a week with my clothes and hair stinking of smoke, having to shower around midnight or later every shift confirmed that it was not for me.

101handbags · 20/07/2016 13:23

Never smoked, not even one puff. Never tried any drugs at all. I drink 1 or 2 glasses of wine a week. I've only ever been sick from drinking once in my whole life (in my 20s). I'm 45 and clearly very boring.

demonchilde · 20/07/2016 14:12

I've smoked 20 a day for 25 years.
My first cigarette was the biggest mistake of my life ( and I've made a lot!)

Hate it. I'm 43 and terrified I will have a heart attack because of it like my Dad did at the same age.

Yet still I struggle to give up or switch to an E Cig Hmm. I've given up alcohol, various prescription meds ( diazepam/ fentanyl), I've been able to lose 6 stone. But giving up smoking - it's just so engrained I just can't seem to manage it.

george1020 · 20/07/2016 14:36

Started smoking at 15 and quit 4 years ago.
Smoked 20-30 a day, reasonable amount of disposable income when smoking, not so much now but giving up smoking actually allowed me to start my own business as didn't need to make x amount of money to pay for fags.
Don't drink, don't and haven't done drugs.

DrDreReturns · 20/07/2016 14:41

I haven't smoked for fifteen years. And I only smoked about four a day back then when I was on nights. As soon as I came off nights I stopped.

specialsubject · 20/07/2016 14:55

never. And I think numbers are dropping off among those who aren't teenagers. Many fewer now outside offices doing the stink break, smoking in pub gardens, doing the Waynetta Slob in the car and so on.

that said, I'm going to a hospital this week and they are usually smoker central so I may change my mind on that!

PlumDogMillionaire · 20/07/2016 15:00

Worra yes of course anyone is entitled to raise their suspicions about a post but i did take offence to my whole thread being dismissed and basically being spoken about as a liar as if it was matter of fact.

Smoked one cigarette when I was 24 just to see what the fuss was about. Never bothered again.

Never done drugs aside from migraine tablets, always had a pretty good relationship with alcohol; I can take or leave it on nights out, rarely end up hanging out my arse but was allowed a small glass of wine with meals from a young age so grew up with it being a social thing rather than a need-to-get-twatted thing.

Plenty of disposable income to spend on fags and booze, but I prefer stupid shoes and handbags which make DH twitch when a new one appears. Same with gambling; I don't see the point in wasting money on something I can't wear or eat.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 20/07/2016 15:23

Oh I used to love my Marlboro Lights. Stopped smoking about a decade or so ago when I was about 28. I was broke and found that ditching the fags would save me about £200 a month.

I love a drink and can't see ever wanting to or needing to knock that on the head!

Tried a bit of speed and cocaine in my youth. I didn't really understand the fuss. I'll take a glass of wine any day instead.

Gottagetmoving · 20/07/2016 15:26

Started smoking at 18 after swearing I never would. Used to smoke more than 20 a day but now smoke between seven and fifteen.Grew up in a home where both parents smoked 40 plus a day each. I never smoke in front of children.
Tried weed twice. Never tried any other drugs.
Alcohol... equivalent of one bottle of wine per week or two on weeks I am not working.
Disposable income more than covers these vices even though there's not much.

Katedotness1963 · 20/07/2016 15:29

I'm 53 now. Started smoking at about 15/16. Stopped over 20 years ago, still miss it! I wasn't a heavy smoker 5-10 per day (10 was a heavy smoking day) but, man, I miss them...

Jayne35 · 20/07/2016 15:32

Smoked for 27 years, gave up at 39 for health reasons, and it was a huge waste of money. Lasted 2 years 2 months. Started again last weekend!

Although I wasn't missing it particularly, I never hated the smell like some ex smokers say happens.

Jayne35 · 20/07/2016 15:33

Posted too soon! I do drink (at weekends) and have tried recreational drugs in my youth.

ImogenTubbs · 20/07/2016 15:35

Only smoked a few times at parties as a stupid teenager. I hate it now. Of all the people I know who have died at least half of them have died as a direct result of smoking, including grandmother (63), aunt (51), and best friend's dad (58). All lost far too young and in a horrible, painful and traumatic way. Lung cancer is not an easy death. Sorry to be so brutal but it is what I have experienced.

celeste83 · 20/07/2016 15:43

I only smoke when i go out for a few drinks with friends, which is few and far between these days, maybe once a month if that. I will buy a packet of ten when i go for a night out and normally just give any remaining cigerrettes to friends at the end of the evening. I do enjoy a cigarette with a drink but i can go weeks without inbetween no smoking. I also don't use any vapes or ecigs. I tried ecigs when the craze first started just for the sake of it and i ended up being hooked on nicotine again and started smoking regularly again. I once again managed to wein myself off regular smoking however Smile

justalittlelemondrizzle · 20/07/2016 15:51

I'm 29 and smoke 15-20 a day. Smoked for 12 years but stopped when pregnant with dd's for obvious reasons aswell as the fact the smell made me feel sick in the early days. DH was banished to the back of the garden!
Live pretty comfortably within our means but we would definately notice a difference financially if we did quit.
I quit for 4 months recently using an e-cig.
I've never smoked in the house but the dd's have seen me smoke a few times.
I was a bit of a pothead pre children.

hellsbellsmelons · 20/07/2016 16:34

Nearing 50
Smoked from 11-19 then stopped for a long time
Started again aged 40 when I found out ExH was having an affair.
Never even had a puff of a spliff or taken any kind of drug.
Apart from alcohol.
