WWYD car parked on our drive

Marsaday · 19/07/2016 21:48

Some complete asshat has left their car parked on our drive.

It has been there at least since my OH got home at 4.30, but could have been there all day.
Have phoned 101 and police say not reported stolen but they won't do anything as the car is on private land and not blocking us in. It's not a car that we recognise as belonging to neighbours and we're not near a hospital, station, airport etc.
We have currently parked across the drive preventing said car from leaving and left our phone number on the window. However, as we have a baby and a toddler our phones are on silent at night.
WIBU to leave the car blocked in until morning?
Or how can we get the car moved?

Yes mrswembley!! We'll never find out about that one. It's been years hasn't it? Bloody Victorian safe..

EBearhug · 26/07/2016 23:47

Oh, I wonder about the safe from time to time, too. MNHQ should have checked the IP the posts were coming from, got the address from their ISP and then sent the heavies in, to stand over the poster until they revealed all. And if the safe hadn't been broken into, they could have taken things like angle grinders and welding kit and safe keys to help us reach a conclusion.

In fact, they could be sending someone round to keep an eye on the car. The poor OP will need sleep from time to time.

Remembering the safe thread is the MN equivalent of losing 'the game'.

And now I've lost 'the game' and so have you. (Only if you remember the game).

hollyisalovelyname · 27/07/2016 11:04

What happened at the end of The Safe Thread.
Was it opened?
Was it a troll?

Rrross1ges · 27/07/2016 11:17

Nothing happened. It was such a disappointment.

MrsWembley · 28/07/2016 08:53

What's 'the game'?

hollyisalovelyname · 28/07/2016 09:16

Grin

I'm afraid you've just lost too, Mrs Wembley!

FYI, This is what it says on Wikipedia:

The Game is a mental game where the objective is to avoid thinking about The Game itself. Thinking about The Game constitutes a loss, which must be announced each time it occurs. It is impossible to win most versions of The Game. Depending on the variation of The Game, the whole world, or all those aware of the game, are playing it all the time. Tactics have been developed to increase the number of people aware of The Game and thereby increase the number of losses.

Though the origins of The Game are unknown, a game featuring ironic processing was played by Leo Tolstoy in 1840.

Rrross1ges · 28/07/2016 14:02

Was the safe opened?

No. It was like the inflatable child with a drawing pin.

hollyisalovelyname · 28/07/2016 22:05

Confused keep checking in hope there's more info on the mystery car please update

bettytaghetti · 30/07/2016 19:51

Spadequeen you made me think of this genius example when a fully able-bodied person parked in a disabled parking space:

And v jealous of the person who met Pierce Brosnan; he's on my laminated card!

MrsWembley · 31/07/2016 14:13

That's funny!Grin I wonder how long it took to do and how many people were involved. I mean, that takes some planning, it's not like someone just rocked up and thought, 'I know what I'll do...'

millimat · 31/07/2016 16:04

That co is fab- never failed to amuse me no matter how many times I've seen it.
I think it was a persistent offender so they planned to catch him out. Wonder if he still uses disabled spaces?!

hollyisalovelyname · 02/08/2016 11:58

I was that strange car parked in the driveway. Blush
Not yours OP obviously.
Getting work done and a lorry needed to park in so I removed my car and put it in neighbour's drive as they are away ( I did their bins as requested by them). I emailed to ask.
They would know my car but their adult children wouldn't.
So if they came to the house when their parents are away they'd see a random car parked in their ( parents) driveway.

mummyB1 · 28/08/2016 00:51

Still nothing Confused

Namechangingbastard · 28/08/2016 00:59

No way. I've wasted almost a weekend of my smoking shortened life on here!

mummyB1 · 28/08/2016 01:05

ImissGrannyW · 28/08/2016 02:09
