I'm not rich, far from it, minimum wage 25hours a week
Always wanted a radley picture bag but can't really afford it
Saw it reduced, £229 to £123
Decided to break the bank and buy it, 3 days after it arrives it was reduced to £113 grrrrr
Rang customer services they said they can't refund the difference but I can reorder and return, so I did
Now it's down to £103
Shall I reorder and return again??!! This is getting silly, but I paid on my credit card and every £10 off helps!!
I've got the balance down to £40so if I do it again I'll only owe £30 on my credit card
What would you do???!!!! Don't want to get black balled!!!

Your personal choices are just that...personal. However if you're skint then no good can come of buying this bag however much of a bargain it might seem. It's just a bag.

HopeArden · 19/07/2016 21:51

People try stuff on in the shops all the time though and are not particularly careful with it and then someone else buys it as 'new'. Honestly, I don't see the difference. I was super careful with it because it was so fragile.

whois · 19/07/2016 21:53

The question is, would you return it a second time to get £10 back?

No. Not worth the effort.

whois · 19/07/2016 21:54

I then wore it to a party with the tag still on and got a refund afterwards

That is completely skanky.

SuburbanRhonda · 19/07/2016 21:56

People try stuff on in the shops all the time though

But that's allowed. Wearing a dress all night long and then returning as if it has never been worn is deceitful.

HopeArden · 19/07/2016 21:57

who what is the difference between several people trying it on in a shop and me wearing it outside the shop for a couple of hours

SuburbanRhonda · 19/07/2016 21:59

The difference is that trying clothes on in a shop does not involve deceit.

HopeArden · 19/07/2016 22:00

Making a poorly designed dress and selling it for more money than it's worth is deceitful too.
I felt a bit guilty but tbh I think the shop was taking the mickey in selling something that was so easily prone to damage.

SuburbanRhonda · 19/07/2016 22:08

All high street clothes are sold for more than they're worth. How on earth would clothes manufacturers make a profit otherwise?

But you keep telling yourself it was the shop's fault and you did nothing wrong.

daisychain01 · 19/07/2016 22:08

I've returned one or two items that I bought for full price to benefit from a reduced price. I've never know of a shop to reduce then reduce then reduce in small increments like that. Maybe once or twice but not that many times.

I just couldn't be arsed for the sake of a tenner each time. Its just too much friggin about, but given that MN wisdom is that a fiver is a fortune to some people I'm probably not allowed to say that.

CakeNinja · 19/07/2016 22:09

My dad bought me a Radley bag for my 21st birthday because he thought id like it.
He took me out for a fancy dinner and we went for drinks and I took the bag for his sake (I didn't really like it but he was so proud!) - I got very drunk, heard a clink while I was staggering home - v classy affair when dad and I go out drinking obviously Grin - and the next day I realised the clank was the bloody dog falling off!!!
10 years on, I just donated the bag to his girlfriend without the dog Grin for its second outing.

Okay, that was a little off topic but it reminded me of this story!

Anyway, I don't think I'd bother for the sake of saving a tenner, even probably to save £50, but you do so do what you want!

Yeah, so if you didn't think it was worth it, then you return it, unworn. You don't get to wear it out to a party.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 19/07/2016 22:28

No it isn't. No one was forcing you to buy it.

You were being deceitful. You bought it knowing full well you would wear and return.

mysteryfairy · 19/07/2016 22:28

I would totally rebuy and I work full time, not for minimum wage.

For people who are worried you won't get the pleasure of the bag now I would actually use the bag you've already received and when the next one gets delivered return it with the paperwork from the initial order.

It's a revelation to me how many people wouldn't bother or even find it morally questionable!

SuburbanRhonda · 19/07/2016 22:33

Another deception. Lovely.

SistersOfPercy · 19/07/2016 22:44

I wouldn't risk it for £10 personally.
I'm a bit of a radley addict (I have a scottie dog). Years ago i fell madly in love with the haymarket carpet bag. Dh offered to buy it me but for reasons I still can't fathom i said no. Of course when he returned on Monday it had gone and another couldn't be tracked down. Took me eight years to find that bloody bag and then I had to buy it second hand. Now if I like one, I tend to buy it if I can afford it.

I've had the radley email myself tonight. I was good, didn't even click on it. Mostly because I spent almost £200 on loungefly star wars bags this weekend....Blush

Keep it and love it. Not worth the a grot for a tenner.

DrWhy · 19/07/2016 22:49

Suburban the 2nd one may technically be decit but no-one is disadvantage by it. A new bag is dispatched, a pristine and unused bag is returned, it makes no difference if it was the 1st or 2nd one to arrive at the door as long as it is unused. Wearing and returning a dress is totally different- as you say another customer could be sold that as new when it's covered with an evening of sweat and grime - urgh! Plus the wearer presumably didn't then purchase another of the companies dresses for the party she'd worn the first one to.

OlennasWimple · 19/07/2016 22:55

People who wear clothes then return them are the reason genuine returns are so difficult in lots of shops Angry

HopeArden · 19/07/2016 22:58

I disagree that all clothes are sold for more than they are worth - more than they cost to make but not more than they are worth.

I didn't buy it with the intention of taking it back. I genuinely liked it but only when I put it on at home on the day of the party did I realise quite how bloody impractical and delicate it was. No time to re shop so I wore it anyway. I have spent a bloody fortune over the years on that company's clothes and did spend some of the refunded money on their stuff. I feel a bit guilty but not that much. I didn't get that dress any more dirty than a couple of women trying it on in the shop.

Am leaving MN for a while do not ignoring further messages - this site keeps randomly redirecting me to porn sites!

noiwontmoveover · 19/07/2016 23:02

Isn't Radley a a favorite with Grannies?

familyfarm · 19/07/2016 23:05

Radley have got a further 10% off too, have you taken that into account?

SistersOfPercy · 19/07/2016 23:05

In these parts you see all ages with them. Dd has a large collection at 19, as do many of her friends.

familyfarm · 19/07/2016 23:09

Btw go for it OP. I also earn around £7 p/ hour and managed to splash out on a radley bag today.

I found id become obsessive about bargains when I'm pregnant.

Jellybeam · 19/07/2016 23:25

Wow. Capitalism folks.
