To never have a poo again?

Littlefluffyclouds81 · 16/07/2016 19:43

I had surgery yesterday to sort out my post-childbirth piles (that have been there since dd1 was born 12 years ago!).

The pain isn't too bad, at the moment, but I have a feeling that could change when it's time 'to go'. And I have an awful feeling that time could be near.

AIBU to eat nothing but Imodium for the rest of my life and avoid this terrible ordeal?

good work...and good luck!

Expellibramus · 16/07/2016 23:45

Everything everyone else said about pooing after csection plus that you're internal organs have been forcefully moved around causing agonising trapped wind and general disfunction. Add in some really fun scar tissue from multiple sections plus cramping after pains across stitched wounds and it's terrifying.

post birth i was feeling terribly stuffed up,senakot fixed that .Remember its better to be regular if you leave a poo to long it becomes rock hard and painful

NeedsAsockamnesty · 17/07/2016 00:00

Witch hazel pads and serious laxatives

FinderofNeedles · 17/07/2016 00:04

Sex often encourages me to poo. Appreciate this may not be feasible for you right now, but it maybe it's related to the hip wriggling suggested above. Could you try that on its own?

queenoftheboys · 17/07/2016 00:11

After childbirth when I had an stitches from a tear, and haemorrhoids, and had gone several days without pooing I was getting increasingly scared, and pooing was coming to dominate my thoughts. Was determined to get it sorted before leaving hospital, so took the laxative they offered (can't remember what it was) and sent DH out for prunes, and ate the whole packet. This resulted in the above mentioned liquid poo explosion which didn't hurt at all. I never realised a single poo could make so much difference to my whole outlook on life! Grin

ConfuciousSayWhat · 17/07/2016 00:11

Post appendectomy poo was bad. No stomach muscles and for some reason my bowel had gone to sleep as had my bladder. It was a bizarre sensation! Anyway that's how I learned about the laxido trick.

ConfuciousSayWhat · 17/07/2016 00:12

Oh and the other thing that may help is pressure on your perineum

AGnu · 17/07/2016 00:24

Do you have any coconut oil? A generous tablespoon of that before drinking a cup of warm water might help! I'm one of those people who can't seem to poo when on holiday but coconut oil & warm water helps once I'm home!

ScrambledSmegs · 17/07/2016 00:32

I always found a glass of orange juice helps you go. DD2 was constipated after a stomach bug and it helped her no end.

Good luck OP. I hope it happens soon!

powershowerforanhour · 17/07/2016 00:38

I'm imagining OP on the loo, arms aloft channeling Field Marshal Montgomery, hula hooping her hips whilst the dog massages her feet.
Loved one walks in.

This may be the best ever example of women empowering women. MN, we salute you!
Good luck with the poo OP. I agree with keeping pressure on your perineum.

UnGoogleable · 17/07/2016 00:39

Good luck - I used Dulcolax after my gynae op, it did the trick although it was rather too effective. Also you mention your poo getting shy, it's almost there then it retreats? This sounds gross, but next time try massaging your butt hole when the poo is peeping out (you can use some toilet paper as a barrier) - the massage helps you relax and you can ease it out better.

Yep, it sounds gross. But there's nothing worse than feeling bunged.

Littlefluffyclouds81 · 17/07/2016 00:44

I do have coconut oil yes.

I'm in the bath right now, trying to eradicate 35 years of conditioning NOT to shit in the bath.

Do it! Be a rebel!

Littlefluffyclouds81 · 17/07/2016 01:17

I tried. I really tried.

Mission aborted for the night. I'm going to bed and hope there is a poo shaped miracle waiting for me in the morning Sad

Senakot and figs dont do much. Lactulose gives horrid bloating.

The only thing that works IMO is milk of magnesia. Two full capfuls at night and it turns your poo to liquid. Never fails. Might not do this one though as it is probably too far down.

Littlefluffyclouds81 · 17/07/2016 02:19

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED. I repeat, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED.

Pain wise, not so bad. The blood, on the other hand....I feel really sick now.

Still buy milk of magnesia tomorrow

3littlerabbits · 17/07/2016 03:47

I'm so happy for you!

(I've known a few people who had this operation. It changed their lives for the better.)

abbinobb · 17/07/2016 05:48

I had a fissure once and a doctor gave me numbing lube stuff in syringes maybe you could get some from your doctor if it's really painful?

powershowerforanhour · 17/07/2016 05:50

Well done Smile

mrselizabethdarcy · 17/07/2016 05:58
