To Want A Nanny

TheyOnceSaid · 13/07/2016 22:09

I was thinking about name changing for this but then I decided not to.

The question is AIBU for wanting to hire a nanny?

I had the discussion with DP and he is against the idea, he said he doesn't want a stranger coming into our house and looking after the children and that I should be grateful that I don't have to go to work.

I am sick and tired of being a SAHM before I had the children I used to really enjoy going to work, I am just tired of spending most of my time in the house, the only time I do get out is on the weekend.

I want a 9-5 job, what would you do if you were in my position?

TIA Smile

You had a discussion with your partner only last night, got him to completely change his mind on everything he has been adamant about up til now, and you have already managed to write your ad and put it on Gumtree?

Hmm
Dontyoulovecalpol · 18/07/2016 12:35

Obviously Op, you're not dumb enough to have no idea how to find a black nanny Hmm

blueshoes · 18/07/2016 14:42

Something fishy about this OP. Most improbable set of circumstances.

TheyOnceSaid · 18/07/2016 15:59

I'm not bothered if anyone is skeptical about my thread, I have been honest all throughout.

Dontyoulovecalpol I don't know why you have used the word black, you seem like a nasty person.

There is a girl in DSs class that has a nanny whom I speak to when I drop him to school, she was found on gumtree.

Blimey, the MIL is a female black judge. Well done her but it might be quite identifying ......

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 18/07/2016 16:20

Up to you OP but I certainly wouldn't employ a nanny via an advert from Gumtree. I have employed nannies.

SestraClone · 18/07/2016 16:44

Googling suggests there are not many black female judges ...

WibblyWobblyJellyHead · 18/07/2016 16:51

Dame Linda Dobbs?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/07/2016 16:51

Good on you OP, managing to convince your DP to do a complete U turn about the nanny / leaving you!
With such negociating skills, i suggest you put yourself forward to sort out terms of Brexit. The salary should cover cost of nanny nicely

WibblyWobblyJellyHead · 18/07/2016 16:51

This is such a weird thread.

PollyBanana · 18/07/2016 16:52

The OP didn't say that her MIL is a judge in this country, did she?

Writerwannabe83 · 18/07/2016 17:06

This thread has gone very odd.

SestraClone · 18/07/2016 17:06

Her DP was born here, she sees her regularly, it doesn't sound like she lives/works in another country. Though I was only interested because a black female judge would have broken a few barriers and I would admire someone like that!

TheyOnceSaid · 18/07/2016 17:11

MIL has a white mother and a black father, we live in a black and white world I do not use the term "mixed raced" Mark Duggan was mixed raced but classed as black man to the whole world.

You can speculate as much as you like, I have no reason to come online and lie to people I don't know.

I've asked admin to delete this thread.

I don't think the ethnicity of OP and her family is any of our business

TheyOnceSaid · 18/07/2016 18:35

PollyBanana

Thank you very much, I have got inboxes from many people on mumsnet, and I won't repeat what they said, but they've made me feel much happier and not alone

A lot of undercover is going on, on this thread also, as if people from other backgrounds can't have top jobs or be wealthy

OP posts:
WibblyWobblyJellyHead · 18/07/2016 18:40

I don't think anyone's said that. But being a non-White female judge is not what you would call common, and didn't happen in this country until 2004.

Only1scoop · 18/07/2016 18:47

Well strange thread

Goingtobeawesome · 18/07/2016 19:01

Very confused and sad for the op.

TheyOnceSaid · 18/07/2016 19:14

undercover racism

2004 was 12 years ago, I guess you are still living in 2004.

Just because some of you aren't happy with your own lives you've tried to put strain on mine when all I've done is asked for advice, I asked people to stop commenting on here but you've been very goady for me to come back.

My point is that his mother must be a remarkable woman. I'm surprised she's happy to see you, the mother of her grandchildren, being a SAHM while unmarried. Can you talk to her about your DP's point of view?

TheyOnceSaid · 18/07/2016 19:30

WibblyWobblyJellyHead

Can you please stop asking questions, you are just being very nosy, your own life must be very very dull.

Mumsnet can you please delete this thread

Dontyoulovecalpol · 18/07/2016 19:34

Rumbled OP Wink

Goingtobeawesome · 18/07/2016 19:37

On dear Hmm.
