To report druggie headteacher neighbour?

I know this sounds like a fake Daily Mail story but honestly it's true! Would love some objective opinions.
My next door neighbours are a couple in their 50s with 2 20ish year old sons. We have had major fallings out over their parties (till 4am regularly) and reported to the council, so parties have died down. They have all regularly smoked weed (day to day) and done laughing gas (at parties). We can see this over our fence as they are always in the garden.
My DS1 has asthma and we can smell the weed in our house. We have told them to stop but they continue. Now looks like they are growing weed (see photo). Her husband doesn't work and smokes weed all day, which obviously has an impact on how we use our garden.
I'm a teacher too and am sick of this woman's hypocrisy of being a head teacher in local primary school. Teachers have to follow the standards which includes upholding the law.
I know this is now a personal vent but I am so angry with the years of noise and drug taking that I kind of want her to suffer too Blush
Anyway, do I shop her to the school governors? Maybe call 101? Or live and let live and look forward to when we can afford to move?

If you steep nettles for a few weeks you get a cracking liquid fertiliser for your garden.
I've got a bucket brewing right now. It smells like death.

I wouldn't report the smoking personally. It's her husband who is using it, yes? Maybe he has a condition that pot helps, hence he doesn't work.

The noisy parties are a problem so reporting those should be your priority.

ColinFirthsGirth · 10/07/2016 23:38

Ummm Op that is NOT cannabis

CoteDAzur · 10/07/2016 23:40

"does look like a nettle but they grow it / them in boxes of water - take it out in the sunshine then bring it back in."

Oh only if it were that easy to grow Grin

whatamockerywemake · 11/07/2016 00:55

I agree with LockedOutOfMN. A crap neighbour does not mean someone is crap at their job.

Deal with the neighbour issue, and I hope you resolve it. But it's got no impact on her working life.

hotdiggedy · 11/07/2016 00:58

Very surprised to hear a headteacher would do these things. How horrible for you to have to live next door to this nonsense.

summerholsr2long · 11/07/2016 01:18

This thread must be a classic, I haven't laughed so much today and the cat picture topped it off! Grin

summerholsr2long · 11/07/2016 01:21

Forgot to say that sucks living next door to twats like that.

PurpleDaisies · 11/07/2016 01:21

Oh the smell-it is like nothing on earth. I hope my bloody plants appreciate it.

LilySnape · 11/07/2016 01:29

That's a nettle. Cannabis plants require heat lamps and special growing pots and growing tents to grow actual buds.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 11/07/2016 01:38

For those saying it looks like a young cannabis plant erm no it doesn't.

Top left is a nettle I googled top right is a young cannabis plant bottom is OPs pic

Even on a young plant you can see how the leaves are growing in a group of three. And the zig zag shape of the leaves is no where near as pronounced as a nettle. Also a nettle has the danggly flowers. Ops pic is defiantly a nettle.

That said why neighbours would be growing nettles in the way she's described I'm not sure surely if you were using it as an irony vegetable, gorgeous btw look nettle soup, wouldn't you just grow it in a few pots and keep them outside. I'm not sure what the water bath is about.

But then I'm not sure moving a cannabis plant would be healthy for it either. So either way I'm not sure their growing either correctly!

Maybe the neighbours think it's cannabis too, if she's a head teacher and stupid enough to smoke it then I guess she's stupid enough to think a nettle is cannabis, not calling op stupid cos I can prehaps see the way it's grown might lead her to conclude that's what it is.

Honestly OP it sounds like you'd having a rough time with these neighbours maybe concentrate on the noise and the actual smoking and and anti social behaviour and get that dealt with.

I drink green tea with nettles most days, quite delicious.
I've never done any drugs though and I'm a very quiet neighbour.
Maybe you could ask her to brew a nettle cuppa for you

NowWhat1983 · 11/07/2016 02:01

Maybe they're moving the nettle around in a tub to make you think it's weed they're growing?

They're aware of how annoyed you are and playing up to it?

It's a nettle.

I have a terrible nettle phobia (can barely write the word) and so I can spot a nettle from 1000 paces. I clicked and immediately thought "aaaaagh!" I haven't fainted yet, so I'm doing well. But I am going to hide this thread.

I have a few "alternative" friends and they drink nettle tea and use them in soup. They actively cultivate their own so they are free of pesticides etc. My worst moment was being offered a cup of tea, agreeing, and being presented with a freshly picked nettle with boiling water poured on it.

But despite being the occasional strange substance smoking sort, I've never seen them smoke the nettles. I know that doesn't help you over the parties, but I suspect your neighbour is making batches of soup, tea, or cheese.

whattodowiththepoo · 11/07/2016 03:27

I understand OP, my neighbour has a large aggressive dog that keeps trying to jump over our shared fence.
I took a picture.

Just deal with the anti social noise the normal way. Try environment health, I have found them useful and effective recently.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/07/2016 07:11

nettle.

sympathies for the neighbour problems though.

LouBlue1507 · 11/07/2016 07:26

Doesn't anybody else think:

Why the fuck would a headteacher grow cannabis outside, in full view of neighbours! Openly enough so that they could take a photo?

Come off it OP! By all means, have a word with them about the noise or talk to the council... But don't go risking her career over something you have no idea about!

She'd be suspended whilst investigated and that would not be fair to her!

bloodymaria · 11/07/2016 07:57

OP it sounds like you've got yourself all worked up over this. Deal with the issues as they arise - call the police/council if party noise goes on after a certain time. If you can smell pot smoke, knock on their door and let them know. They'll probably be mortified.

Don't report the poor woman and potentially cost her her job.

wowfudge · 11/07/2016 08:07

Some posters have been really rude to the OP on this thread. You need to keep a diary of incidents in order to go to Environmental Health/neighbourhood policing about the noise nuisance. Include their responses when you ask them to turn down music at unsociable hours. As for smoking weed - some rolling tobacco does smell quite similar. All this 'each to their own' and 'live and let live' stuff is fine when it isn't you and your family being impacted.

SillyMoomin · 11/07/2016 08:08

Think the op is getting a hard time here, horrid neighbours are a PITA

Op, report each infraction to the relevant authorities; ie, the noise at 4am to the council and the pot smoking coming into your house to 101

Make notes of times and places

Good luck
