To report druggie headteacher neighbour?

I know this sounds like a fake Daily Mail story but honestly it's true! Would love some objective opinions.
My next door neighbours are a couple in their 50s with 2 20ish year old sons. We have had major fallings out over their parties (till 4am regularly) and reported to the council, so parties have died down. They have all regularly smoked weed (day to day) and done laughing gas (at parties). We can see this over our fence as they are always in the garden.
My DS1 has asthma and we can smell the weed in our house. We have told them to stop but they continue. Now looks like they are growing weed (see photo). Her husband doesn't work and smokes weed all day, which obviously has an impact on how we use our garden.
I'm a teacher too and am sick of this woman's hypocrisy of being a head teacher in local primary school. Teachers have to follow the standards which includes upholding the law.
I know this is now a personal vent but I am so angry with the years of noise and drug taking that I kind of want her to suffer too Blush
Anyway, do I shop her to the school governors? Maybe call 101? Or live and let live and look forward to when we can afford to move?

Live & let live. I also think that's a nettle. You need incredibly stringent conditions to grow cannabis. It's not easy. If you get v stressed You could always ask them for a bit, it will destress you :). On the plus side if they're just pot heads you're not in much danger-smoke doesn't linger over gardens

Marzipants · 10/07/2016 22:37

You're sure they're not just smoking plain roll ups? Some brands of tobacco stink, doesn't mean they're smoking weed.

Nice nettle BTW. Grin

LyndaNotLinda · 10/07/2016 22:37

Nettle tea, nettle soup.

What exactly are you going to report her for? Given you can't identify a cannabis plant, I'm not that hopeful you can identify the smell of weed

sepa · 10/07/2016 22:38

Please report the nettle. One stung me yesterday. Bloody stood there muggin me off

OTheHugeManatee · 10/07/2016 22:38

You need incredibly stringent conditions to grow cannabis.

No you don't. I had five plants on my windowsill when I was 16 and they did fine. TBF they didn't bud much, I just smoked the leaves, but they did grow and I did get stoned.

myownprivateidaho · 10/07/2016 22:39

I agree that the plant doesn't look like weed and doubt they'd be stupid enough to grow it in plain sight. However of course you are entitled to complain to the council and police if you can smell their cannabis smoke in your home regularly. You should absolutely not have to live with that. Reporting to governors is a bit pointless IMO, as the teacher will just say it's a vindictive lie.

EdithBouvierBeale · 10/07/2016 22:39

I think it could be a cannabis plant

Ditsy4 · 10/07/2016 22:39

It is a nettle.

KittyLaRoux · 10/07/2016 22:39

Maybe they enjoy nettle tea? It has healibg qualities i think?

You have zero proof with which to cost this women her job.
If hou suspect drugs then call the police but if no charges are brought then leave it be.

coolaschmoola · 10/07/2016 22:40

That is a nettle. Nettles are used to make various things including tea and soup. It is believed to be very beneficial to health.

It is NOT a cannabis plant Confused

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 10/07/2016 22:40

I look more like a cannabis plant than that does.Grin

Doggity · 10/07/2016 22:41

I get the opposite in my line of work; "it's a tomato plant!" Suuuure it is. Wink

Mumteedum · 10/07/2016 22:43

Wow...some nippy responses. I googled young cannabis plants. They do look like that. You have my sympathy. If they're growing the smell is horrendous.

Luckily my neighbour who did this was really nice and sorted it out when I mentioned it.

I don't know that shopping yours would do any good. I can understand you wanting to though esp if they're antisocial.

ABloodyDifficultWoman · 10/07/2016 22:43

If that's a cannabis plant them I've got a fuck ton of those at the bottom of the garden.

Yay - I'm rich! I'M RICH! Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 10/07/2016 22:44

That plant isn't a nettle! Nettles don't have the smaller shoots growing out of leaf nodes. I'm not sure it's cannabis either but it's not a nettle.

Sciurus83 · 10/07/2016 22:44

Hah! That is a nettle Grin

StillMedusa · 10/07/2016 22:45

It actually does look like a young cannabis plant.. you don't get the characteristic leaf pattern til they are bigger.

But... I'm not sure that smoking it in her own time is a major offence (small amounts for personal use and all that...and no I'm not a fan of it but there are nastier things out there)

PortiaCastis · 10/07/2016 22:46

Erm thats a sodding stinging nettle. Maybe make some nettle concotion and sniff it. Nettles are good for renewing brain cells

WorraLiberty · 10/07/2016 22:46

That's definitely a nettle

Perhaps the police could do a sting? Grin

anyname123 · 10/07/2016 22:48

I think they probably have a brilliant sense of humour, as you are often watching through the fence or whatever they have decided to play a trick on you with a nettle. I love them based on this alone

george1020 · 10/07/2016 22:48

It's a nettle!

I grew two cannabis plants when I was a teen, they grew to be quite big, I can see where you are coming from as they look a little similar but that photo is a nettle. A

Cocolepew · 10/07/2016 22:48

Owllady Grin😂

Asprilla11 · 10/07/2016 22:48

Down at the bottom of the garden,
Among the birds and the bees.
There live a lot of little people,
They're called The Poddington Peas

There's Cre-Pea, Black Eye-Pea and Dum-Pea.
Keep it a secret now please.
Theres Zip-Pea, Hap-Pea and there's Sweet-Pea
And all the Poddington Peas!

The Poddington Peas!

Grin
Passmethecrisps · 10/07/2016 22:49

Poor op.

Living next to people who behave in a way which impacts on your life is horrible.

I don't think this is a weed plant but there are other issues which you could get help with. Have you spoken to the council about the noise? If it is just smoking outside then you can't really stop them doing that I'm afraid but talking to someone may give you some ideas for moving things forward

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 10/07/2016 22:50

There's only one way to find out for sure OP, you're going to have to nick one of the buds and smoke it. Afterwards if you feel a new found appreciation for Led Zepplin and the urge to wolf down a KFC and mainline Fanta then defo call the police... although you'll have probably forgotten why you called and try to get them to send pizza.
