To wear jeans to a wedding

sepa · 09/07/2016 17:43

I have a wedding coming up. Not back to pre baby body and still feel very self conscious about wearing dresses.
I was thinking black jeans & heels with this white top - m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0409683002.html
And this jacket - m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0338033003.html
Or will it look too casual? Hopefully the links all work Confused

Sorry Jeans are too casual for a wedding. If you are feeling uncomfortable about weight etc you can get some beautiful Maxi Dresses that hide multiple sins and look stunning and not too expensive too if you look around.

Could you cancel the cheque for the jeans, op? I think they'd be too casual for a wedding.

Grin I want a cheque book emoticon.

Agree with those saying that a dress or skirt is far more comfortable than jeans or trousers.

It's not really wedding guest attire. Even with black trousers I think it would still look as if you haven't made an effort.

A dress that suits you, that you love and feel comfortable in will make you feel great.

Did I buy a dress usual? Hmm I was thinking of maybe wearing jeans? Do you think it would be a bit casual or do you think it would be OK? Grin

In the 90s I wore a dress over jeans. That was comfortable, and hideous.

GirlOutNumbered · 11/07/2016 22:28

hmmm, I didn't want to read the whole thread, but something tells me that she's not wearing the jeans anymore.

I'll leave it and go get a biscuit.

Rachel0Greep · 11/07/2016 22:28

sepa could you chop up the dress that you bought, and make it into jeans and wear them Wink...

Needateenhandbook · 11/07/2016 23:27

Usual, I totally agree. I think it would be smart if the jeans were 'black black' not washed out. It could be dressed up with accessories. If you want to feel comfortable then do it. Stick a pair of heels onSmile.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 12/07/2016 00:22

Gosh, if only there were some way to check only the OP's posts in a long thread...
Oh wait.
REALLY wish MNHQ would make it a default that the OP's posts are highlighted, rather than an "opt in" choice in Customise.

magratvonlipwig · 12/07/2016 08:09

Are you near a Roman Originals. Lots of very forgiving stretchy dresses which hide a few lumps and bumps.......
I agree with the others jeans too casual. I do like the jacket tho.

sepa · 12/07/2016 08:21

So people agree jeans are ok then?
Thank you for clearing that up

Please report back if you se others wearing jeans. I reckon as a casual wedding some men will wear smart jeans but it always seems a different rule for ladies

Tandia · 12/07/2016 11:57

I'm guessing you deleted the pic of the dress so as not to out yourself? Can you post a link - I'm nosey!

BillyNotQuiteNoMates · 12/07/2016 15:51

I've just read the ENTIRE thread, and I'm gutted you removed the photo of the dress!! I promise I have no wedding invites coming up, I don't know anyone getting married, and I will have no idea who you are. Please let em see it 😉
I came on to say that I literally have NO idea what any of my guests wore to my wedding (other than my mother, and that's a whole different story, re. Shopping for something that didn't clash with eth bridesmaids, etc, etc) and I would have had no problem with anyone turning up in smart jeans, but I'm glad you're happy with your outfit and I hope that you and the happy could have a fabulous day!!

tracyjane41 · 12/07/2016 16:36

As long as they were a good pair of jeans teamed with a good quality fancy top, contrasting jacket and heels with a nice bag, I personally think it would be fine for the evening.
