Swearing on Mumsnet

Just a simple and maybe even a silly question - but why do people swear on Mumsnet? It just often makes peoples comments come across as so aggressive.....the swearing could so easily be avoided...and the comments come across as more considerd. I am interested to read what others think.....Thanks loads folks....XXX

Ah, I love stuff like that, Amber. I discovered the phrase 'lobotomised shitlarks' via twitter, such a useful invention.

Dawndonnaagain · 29/06/2016 17:21

and the comments come across as more considerd. (sic)
Bullshit!

ScrambledSmegs · 29/06/2016 17:22

She is the bawjaws who thinks that parents of children with autism create their situation and that autistic behaviours & traits can be helped with discipline & strict routine.

Shock Shock Shock

I have often thought this too. It seems very common to swear. Certainly not something I enjoy reading all the time

I wouldn't watch a tv programme with endless swearing. Mnhq should ban swearing.

Can't people make a point without having to swear?

Also why are there so many people on here who comment when they don't have children?

I know the site is open to all but it is intended for mums to advice each other. Yet there are endless threads with people who are single or never want kids so they can't relate to the life of a mum

JessieMcJessie · 29/06/2016 17:24

I am not looking forward to having to learn not to swear at home when my son -to-be-born DS starts understanding words. DH and I currently pretty much use "fuck you" as a term of endearment....

When that day comes I will be swearing even more on MN than I do already.

PurpleDaisies · 29/06/2016 17:25

Just looked up the thread about discipline and autistic children. Op I'm not surprised you don't want people to swear. With an attitude like yours I'm guessing it's often directed at you.

SootSprite · 29/06/2016 17:25

We swear because we are grown ups and not delicate little snowflakes.

If you don't like it there are other places on the net for you and your XXX Hmm

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 29/06/2016 17:26

Relate to the life of a mum?

What precious hell is this?

I don't mind the swearing - ignore it really, but I ofen wonder if people are just typing what they are actually thinking or throwing the odd 'c' or 'f' word in for effect, because they can?

Why would you use a swear word regularly surely that's just rude and bad manners?

Swearing at work isn't allowed in most professions so why do people do it so much on here?

Telling people to F off and that I mean come on. Most posh people never use the f word so it's not even something I hear often in real life but it's all over mumsnet f this, f you etc.

It makes me wonder if these people have jobs and aren't just off on maternity!

NeedACleverNN · 29/06/2016 17:32

Posh people?

See this is where you are going wrong. Most of us don't have tea with the Windors on a weekly basis

Do you consider being on mumsnet to be work then yummy? Is that part of the "life of a mum"?
Us childless people are just too stupid to understand...
