If a general election is called would you vote Lib Dem to stay in the EU?

If there is a general election the Lib Dems have stated they will run on a platform to keep the UK in the EU if they win. The Tories obviously won't do that and the Labour party can't really run on that platform I don't think since so many Labour voters voted to leave. I'm curious if the Lib Dems would attract a lot of support since they would effectively be turning the general election into a second referendum.

Yes, but it'd be a wasted vote as our vile, racist, misogynist, homophobic, anti-everything local MP gets at least 50% of the vote at every election. And Leave polled around 65% here, so he'll stroll the next one, too. Sad

rookiemere · 28/06/2016 22:08

Yes.

But I'd also vote for Labour if they promised to review the decision.
Previously I voted Lib Dem or Conservative - I can't see myself ever voting conservative again.

sofasetteecouch · 28/06/2016 22:08

I'm not sure, Tim Farron seems ok but actually I thought Nick Clegg was very statesmenlike and since the Tories got a majority I've realised how much the Liberals must have done to keep them in check.

I was initially pro Brexit but changed my mind at the last minute and voted Remain. I can't believe how many voted to leave we must have been suffering from a temporary mass hallucination.
Basically I will vote tactically to stay in the EU and would love it if the Libereals are the ones to deliver that.

manicinsomniac · 28/06/2016 22:09

Yes. I've just joined the party because of this week actually.

I wouldn't be able to though as there wouldn't be a lib dem candidate in my area.

allegretto · 28/06/2016 22:12

Yes but always have anyway up until the last election.

CuntyPotato · 28/06/2016 22:12

Yes, although they stand no chance in our Tory stronghold unfortunately.

crossroads3 · 28/06/2016 22:12

Yes

NapoleonsNose · 28/06/2016 22:15

Yes. I tactically vote LibDem anyway in our marginal seat. I am a Labour Party member but they have no chance here.

TempsPerdu · 28/06/2016 22:15

Yes. In the past I've swayed between them and Labour, but I actually joined the Lib Dems after last year's election, and I couldn't see myself voting Labour in their current state anyway. Bit of a wasted vote here though as my constituency's very much a Tory/Labour marginal.

cosmicglittergirl · 28/06/2016 22:16

Yes. Absolutely.

WeirdAndPissedOff · 28/06/2016 22:20

I would have said yes. But from the EU'S reaction I fear we have very much burnt that bridge. It would also cause a massive backlash from the Leave voters

I've also avoided voting Lib Dem in the past as prefer to hedge my bets. I very firmly DO NOT want another Tory government, and I'm not sure if a vote for Lib Dem would have the same weight as a vote for Labour (usually 2nd behind Tories).

ItsMeTheMummy · 28/06/2016 22:21

Yes. In my area Conservative always get in by a huge majority but at the referendum my area was majority remain and our mp was a major leave supporter so he'd need to have a pretty good campaign to get in again I think. It's kind of unfortunate as he really does manage the local area well and I have voted for him in the past but won't again, ever.

lovelyupnorth · 28/06/2016 22:22

Yes but do live in Tim Farons safe seat.

FurryLittleTwerp · 28/06/2016 22:22

Yes I would. Hate the bloody Tories ATM & I've always voted Conservative, apart from last time as I loathed Slippery Dave so much I "wasted" my vote on a candidate that couldn't win in my safe Tory seat.

OddBoots · 28/06/2016 22:24

Yes.

Felascloak · 28/06/2016 22:25

Yes.
I vowed never to vote Labour again after Iraq and now feel the same about the Tories after this debacle, can't vote green either because of the "non-man" nonsense so LD is my only choice really anyway.

beetroot2 · 28/06/2016 22:26

No.

Think it's high time that everyone accepts that we live in a democracy and the vote was to leave the EU.

verite · 28/06/2016 22:27

Yes

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 28/06/2016 22:29

TrixieBernadette · 28/06/2016 22:30

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 22:32

Yes

NowWhat1983 · 28/06/2016 22:32

hell no

Piranha2 · 28/06/2016 22:32

Agree with Melanie Cheeks. There has been so much confusion in the population as to what was voted for, not helped by absence of any details since ,it is the only way forward . I think such a narrow margin for Brexit, to make such huge changes requires a greater percentage of the UK to support it. I would like to see the right wing of the Labour Party form their own centrist government ,to challenge the Tories and team up in a voting strategy with the Lib Dems.

TrixieBernadette · 28/06/2016 22:34

Sofa I miss Nick Clegg. Cried a little at his resignation speech.

TrixieBernadette · 28/06/2016 22:35

Goringbit your MP and area sounds like mine :-(
