To ask what leavers have against Poles?

I keep on seeing posts complaining about Poles (hardworking, young and pay more taxes than they take out). Why?? Most Poles go back after a few years anyway! I know people say it was not a racist decision - so I don't get it. A good proportion of the pensioners in Spain will be back when pensions are frozen and they DO use the NHS and other resources more due to age. So why are they preferable if not rac ism?

Wot Worra and TheNaze said.

Anyway, since when has Pole been offensive? Confused

PforPhoebeHforhoebe · 25/06/2016 13:23

Poland suffers from mass emigration however I know some people left uk to go back. After Thursday many of my friends are planning to return to Poland because Uk people want us out. I do not suffer from the immigrant complex so I will be staying . I do think that many Polish people feel disappointed and maybe a little betrayed (as in we did help England to grow in the last 10 years) but this is a lot more complex than that. I feel British (I am technically) and don't really care about one or two people that think I should be going back. I work hard and never claimed any benefits and I feel that Uk is my home. I'm highly educated , , , in very well paid job (LA) running a team of 30 and I'm great at my job .

Lynnm63 · 25/06/2016 13:24

Absolutely nothing against them. Individually, and I've met lots, they are lovely, generally hard working. In their shoes I'd have moved in the same way. However, I voted leave so we can choose who comes to the UK. I don't necessarily want less immigration just controlled immigration. I want the council to know if we will have 100 or 1000 immigrants next year so they can ensure we have enough homes, school places, GP's hospital places etc. I don't think that is unreasonable.

nuttymango · 25/06/2016 13:27

Our tenants are Polish and they are a lovely family, they pay the rent on time and the house is immaculate. I have nothing against them. Why would I?

A4Document · 25/06/2016 13:28

The only thing "leavers" all have in common is that, for one or more of many possible reasons, they voted leave. It's far too much of a leap to ask "what leavers have against poles" when leavers aren't a homogenous group at all. Just ask individuals to explain what they meant, if they say something you disagree with.

Among those who had immigration as one of their concerns about the EU, many would like an Australian type points system for economic migrants, where anyone, regardless of race, religion or nationality wishing to move to the UK would go through the same fair process. In addition we can still take genuine refugees. Some people seem to think that Brexit means no-one from overseas will ever come to Britain again, and that's completely incorrect.

Waves to whothefuckissimon we must live quite close to one another.

horseygeorgie1 · 25/06/2016 13:30

thebestfurchinchilla · 25/06/2016 13:33

Polish people are of the same race as us OP. Do you mean xenophobia? I voted leave. I have nothing against Polish people. By the way what do remain voters have against non europeans?

BoneyBackJefferson · 25/06/2016 13:33

Another goady, all brexiters are racist posts.

Get a grip.

Letmehaveausername · 25/06/2016 13:34

I quite like poles, they're rather handy...

And I've never said I had anything against the Polish either...

Just5minswithDacre · 25/06/2016 13:38

Handy?! They're people not facilities ShockHmm

thebestfurchinchilla · 25/06/2016 13:38

Lillipuddlian · 25/06/2016 13:41

"not a racist decision" my arse

thebestfurchinchilla · 25/06/2016 13:44

lilli| Do you think Gisela Stuart is racist?

almondpudding · 25/06/2016 13:44

I thought the recent rule changes around non EU immigrants was that for non-refugees, people who earn more than they take out, i.e. household income of over £35,000, can work in the UK.

So if the Polish are paying in more than they take out (as you state), they will continue to come to the UK.

I like the Polish as much as I like the Iranians and Japanese. Do you like them more than other nationalities, OP?

I certainly think people from other countries who have been in the UK for a long time should remain here anyway, regardless of whether they're Polish or Iranian.

MariaSklodowska · 25/06/2016 13:47

"I keep on seeing posts complaning about Poles"

Really? Could you link us to one of those posts then?

WorraLiberty · 25/06/2016 13:48

Just, have you never heard the term 'handy man'?

Not that all Poles are handy anyway, but many of them are in the building/plumbing/construction trades.

allegretto · 25/06/2016 13:48

I don't think all leavers are racist! But I have seen posts specifically against Poles (is that not politically correct?!) and wondered why. Wasn't meant to be goady - am genuinely interested esp as regards to Oaps living in Spain who will use the Nhs far more when they come back. The posts were on FB btw not here.

OP posts:
thebestfurchinchilla · 25/06/2016 13:51

OP racists are racists. Do you think all remain voters are non racist? you could argue that a vote to remain is racist. The EU favours migration from Europe(predominantly white) to immigration from the rest of the world.

almondpudding · 25/06/2016 13:51

Is Spain intending to send the OAPs back?

I have not seen this announced.

Do you have a link?

(Genuine question)

MariaSklodowska · 25/06/2016 13:51

" But I have seen posts specifically against Poles "

where? link?

Letmehaveausername · 25/06/2016 13:53

Err just to clarify, I was talking about things like washing poles and poles that signs are attached to, not the polish people, when I said they were handy!!!!

thebestfurchinchilla · 25/06/2016 13:55

letme I know Grin
