The nightmare continues

Have woken up this morning to the gut wrenching realisation after being asleep that we are still leaving the EU, and we still now have a political vacuum which is likely to be filled by people with even more of a neo liberal agenda than Cameron. At the head of a government which has a mandate of 36% of the electorate.

What is going to make any of this better?

Genuine question - what can we do to make it better?

Try and think of some positives. Johnson, our likely next pm can read how the majority will vote. He is probably cleverer than we thought which is a good quality in a leader. Our economy was probably over reliant on financial sector maybe this will redress the balance a bit? I would have preferred remain by the way.

But am genuinely asking for ideas on how to feel positive about what has happened. If people becomes abusive I shall just hide it. My post is biased yes but I have not been abusive. To me and many others yesterday's result is awful. What can we now do?

And I have never voted Tory.

Not so much 'why' but 'how' we felt. Waking up each morning and remembering, with the sinking feeling in your stomach. It sounds melodramatic, but it really isnt when its something that will affect you in a major way.

I hope this is true but to me he seems incredibly slippery - with no one being sure what he stands for and the kind of damage he may be capable of inflicting on normal people. Everything seems to be a joke to him. He wasn't even sure what side of the EU debate he was going to back until the last minute .

Got to disagree with this. This is a huge shock to many and (looking at other mn posts) already effecting jobs in the U.K.
You can't really expect people to be over it after just a day. The dust is still settling.

Not that I particularly want him as PM, Boris Johnson is far more astute than people give him credit for. You can't be a bumbling idiot and manage to manoeuvre yourself such that you are favourite to be the next PM.

Very serioulsy?
You can't do anything at all bar following the news very carefully to try and understand all the things going on in the background (eg What was the aim fo Boris Johnson in this referendum?) and when the next generall election comes, vote as sensibly as possible. Because whoever will be in charge will be the one leading the exit from the EU and you would hope it will be as well managed as possible.
It could well be for example that the next government decides that actually the best wouold be to be in a position where we still have free trading with the EU and pay and have free movement of people and still pay to the EU which could mean very little change.
Or they might want to opt out completely and close Britain off thinking they can do all on their own.
Or they will negociate some agreements re immigration or trading that will create something else again altogether.
In effect, everything bar being a full member of the EU is possible.

And if you are an EU citizen, look at getting a dual citizenship etc etc. In effect, protect yourself.

Boris Johnson is only good as a politician if you are to have at the head of the country someone who is happy to lie, twist things etc to get what he wants (and what he wanted was to be the head of the Conservative party).
He might be intelligent, he certainly isn't trustworthy.

Agreed whenshewasbad, I mean it's 48% of voters. That's a huge number of people who wanted the exact opposite of what is going to happen to their country. Why should and why would anyone expect that 16 million people would just shut up in those circumstances!

I think the fact that people can believe the gimlet-eyed, self-serving adulterous BJ is a buffoon highlights how utterly credulous people are
