I voted Leave but don't deserve abuse for it !!!!

Yesterday I voted to leave after months of thought about all the main issues regarding membership.

I decided to leave based on sovereignty, I don't want a closer EU/United States Of Europe. I don't want my son to be in an EU army.

Immigration and economics for me were lesser issues. But still influenced my vote.

The names on here and Twitter that have been directed at leave voters has astonished me.

I am not uneducated, racist or xenophobic. I simply want the best for my country and that IMO is leave and I am overjoyed with the victory today against all odds.

Maybe if those on the remain side looked more into the arguments instead of name calling it would have been a different result.

It shocks me that labour supporters on Twitter are saying these horrible names against leave voters, but they need us to get their seats in the north, I don't think it is a good idea to insult your own base.

Even on mumsnet rhetoric has been appalling, I have had posters say they can't bring themselves to speak to leave voting parents.

Why can't you just accept maybe that leave possibly has a better campaign/arguments.

This idea that many leave voters regret the vote is wrong, everyone I know who voted leave is in a joyous mode today.

Can we just move on now and accept the result instead of insulting 52% of the population.

So you have no proof then? Because there is none!

No one knows what will happen. You can speculate all you like but there is no indisputable evidence as to what will happen, so stop with your scaremongering bullshit, its getting old now

Of course people know what will happen. You just need a basic grasp of politics and economics. It's already started.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and unfortunately many people have to eat the pudding to find the proof. You won't have long to wait.

BonerSibary · 24/06/2016 22:03

It's can't get worse for me, to be able to stop the EU sending us refugees is all I wanted and I think things will get better for the lower classes, sure it will hurt the london crowd but I don't care.

Jesus wept. You actually think leaving the EU would stop refugees from turning up, don't you? You and user. I'm pretty sure we're not going to stop being a few miles off the coast of France when we leave, nor will our going defeat ISIS or stop the Sudanese and Eritrean governments from shitting on their people. Refugees aren't in the UK because of EU law. Someone did a number on you OP.

ClaudiaApfelstrudel · 24/06/2016 22:03

so many videos now of people who voted leave because they 'didn't think it would matter' now regretting it

Barefootcontessa84 · 24/06/2016 22:04

All this illustrates is the genuine ignorance of those that voted to leave. A much too complex decision for the majority...

TulipsInAJug · 24/06/2016 22:04

I also voted Leave and am pleased the British electorate made the right move.

I'm highly educated btw.

This hysterical overreaction of Remain is irksome, but it will eventually die down. At some point they will understand that they live in a democracy, and what that means and that they better just get on with it.

BoomKapow

And get fired and no hours?

ManonLescaut · 24/06/2016 22:04

Our country has been pushed off a cliff, and those who voted for it to be pushed are making it screamingly clear that they don't really understand what they've done

This. A billion times this.

The ignorance is absolutely mind-boggling.

emeraldlakes · 24/06/2016 22:05

Would you also say people shouldn't have voted to remain on that logic ManonLescaut ? Those who have careers in politics couldn't say for certain what would happen either way. It's been a single day since the vote and we still don't know what the full effect will be. (Or what would have happened had we chosen to stay).

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 24/06/2016 22:05

Purposely targeting in a sensationalist manner those who can't read the detail or can't be bothered to read the detail is a propaganda. It sucks the uneducated, naive, and bigoted in

A large proportion of the vote was gained by exactly this. The comments I keep reading confirm it.

Barefootcontessa84 · 24/06/2016 22:06

Oh and the 'London crowd' run your economy which is now shot to shit, so enjoy that. You clearly have no idea about the wider reaching implications of your decision.

MancMum01 · 24/06/2016 22:06

mumontherun - I did not intend to bold it as the statement was so ridiculous it stood out without additional emphasis Grin

echt · 24/06/2016 22:06

While I haven't called anyone a name yet, I really don't get why, in RL not MN, you can't.

Leavers are being called on their actions, which they chose to do, not the colour of their skin.

Deal with it, OP.

Barefootcontessa84 · 24/06/2016 22:07

Being highly educated doesn't mean you have the first idea about how the EU actually works.

nonamenopackdrill · 24/06/2016 22:07

The leavers voted for a return to the Empire, to a time when Johnny foreigner knew his place. Against the Schroedinger immigrants who both steal jobs and claim benefits meant for white folk.

Guess what, immigration won't change. And the NHS will still be underfunded.

Caravansandfestivals · 24/06/2016 22:07

God. Why are you justifying your vote op? If you're comfortable with it? Great Britain, I despair. You have no idea what you've done.

Permanentlyexhausted · 24/06/2016 22:07

Oh this is hilarious! The OP is posting on Mumsnet for her very first time to complain about people abusing her on MN.

Dear OP,
If you feel you are being abused on a site it's best to not then register on that site. Alternatively have the balls to vote with your usual username. I suppose there's a third alternative but that's for MNHQ to consider.

HTH

TulipsInAJug · 24/06/2016 22:08

A much too complex decision for the majority...

You are so, so, wrong. Shame on you.

LaBelleOtero · 24/06/2016 22:08

Are the remain voters still crying? There there you special snowflakes

As if the Farage/IDS/BoJo devotees wouldn't have been screaming about 'pencil fixes' if it had gone the other way. They were gearing up for it for the best part of a week!

fj3568 · 24/06/2016 22:08

£80 billion wiped from British businesses today and you didn't consider the economics to be important- you didn't listen to the Governor of the Bank of England, IMF, any of the legion of experts. No sympathy from me either

SauvignonBlanche · 24/06/2016 22:08

I do think I've done the best for my country absolutely I do
Are you emigrating? Confused

Bogeyface · 24/06/2016 22:08

Jeez, and apparantly the Leavers are the thick ones!

Like all temper tantrums, I think this one is best ignored.

Toodles.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 24/06/2016 22:10

to be able to stop the EU sending us refugees is all I wanted

TheEU doesn't send us refugees. What are you on?

BoomKapow · 24/06/2016 22:11

user you can do it anonymously. Seriously how can you possibly be blaming the EU for people working illegally for an unethical company!? The EU afforded you some of the best workers rights we have. I think you'll find that your employment position will become a lot more unstable outside of the EU than it is currently but I guess you made a well reasoned and researched choice so you already know that. Hmm

I'm not haranguing anyone Bogey. I haven't asked why, I already know. It is just something I have noticed today as reality dawns.
