I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

I hate the whole if you voted leave you must be racist. No! I voted leave because I think a points system like Australia would work well, not stopping all migrants but controlling immigration, allowing migrants with qualifications and skills, we don't need people who bring this country nothing. And I'm sure if our benefits system was stricter then they wouldn't want to live here

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 05:52

And I'm not old and have many higher level qualifications!

You're the anomaly on the graph! One of the very far out blobs!

zaalitje · 24/06/2016 05:53

Both Gove and Johnson have previously been stated as saying they would like to see the NHS privatised.
You're looking at a likely move by Boris to lead the Tory's.
Gove just had a bloody good go at back door privatisation of education with schools and academies.

branofthemist · 24/06/2016 05:53

There are a lot of leave voters who are racists.

I am sure there are. But not all or most. And saying they are, by default, racist is one of the reasons the vote has gone the way it has.

Floods123 · 24/06/2016 05:54

Remainers, like the Labour party who list the last election look down there noses and snear at those who don't agree with them. Kelp smearing and keep losing! If you respect their views and have a proper debate you might win! How dare you assume that those concerned about immigration are racist. Might just be that such people are concerned about pressure on services and jobs! I think we have voted out because the EU is arrogant and has riden roughshod over us. If they reformed and Commioners were properly elected and our voice was heard then we might just have voted to stay. But they didn't listen. Their pet project couldn't fail. But is has. I think others will go. The EU Will be a rump of a few nations holding onto the coat tails of Germany. Let's accept the Will if the people. Existing times ahead. Remainers need to accept and embrace the result and move together as the great nation we are.

Ilikesweetpeas · 24/06/2016 05:54

I'm devastated this morning. We are now entering a period of massive instability, so many industries warned that they would move abroad if we left, I find it hard to believe that public services will indeed get more money and we are entering a period of economic turmoil. A very sad day for Britain.

Iamthegreatest1 · 24/06/2016 05:55

Shariamom the majority of EU immigrants are overwhelming white, lily white like yourself. If it's non whites you don't like, then you're voting has been in vain because whatever the outcome, it won't change the movement of blacks /Asians into the country, they will still get visas as, hopefully. Smile

Inyournightdress · 24/06/2016 05:56

migrants coming to the uk for work already have to pass a points based system

GraceGrape · 24/06/2016 05:56

I voted remain myself, but I think (from people I've spoken to) that some people voted leave as a protest about immigration or perceived lack of democracy. Many of these people were fairly certain that remain was in the bag anyway and didn't expect their vote would actually lead to us leaving the EU. They were hoping that leave would get enough votes to make their voices "heard". I wonder is some of these voters will wake up feeling somewhat uncomfortable about the reality of the result. (Please note I've said "some". I know there are many jubilant leave voters....).

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 05:57

Are people honestly saying they voted thinking that this would be better for jobs and the economy?

twittwooery · 24/06/2016 05:57

I agree there is a difference between immigration and being racist, but when one of the biggest faces of your side is a known bigot and racist, and many of the supporters people see are racist/ xenophobic then of course it's easy to tar everyone with the same brush

Inyournightdress · 24/06/2016 05:58

Floods you do realise you're the only one in this post coming across as sneery and arrogant?

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 05:58

Good point- if you don't want people to think you're a bit racist then don't let Nige be your poster boy

Iamthegreatest1 · 24/06/2016 05:59

I am shocked at the pomposity and arrogance of the poster who declared Brexiters must not be educated. It's this kind of attitude that lost Labour the last election.

Valentine2 · 24/06/2016 06:00

Block me MNHQ if you like but I wanna rant once here: to those whose parents voted leave: tell them to fuck off from me too. Angry

Philoslothy · 24/06/2016 06:01

Because as a British white, i don't want me and my kids to be forced into becoming an ethnic minority in my own country.
We have our borders back.
We get to make our own laws again

I refuse to believe that half of the country that I love is as racist and stupid as this.

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 06:02

Hi IAm that's me you're shocked at. I am interested in voting patterns and the statistics are very clear. I'm not making any judgement I am reporting facts (which you're welcome to verify).

I'm not sure I'm responsible for Labour losing last year but happy to apologise to the country if I am.

Eebahgum · 24/06/2016 06:03

branofthemist I completely agree. The blinkered "only a racist would vote leave" perspective has pushed leave voters underground, prevented them from saying what they think, and stood in the way of open discussion. I firmly believe that it contributed to the way the vote has gone. While the stay voters were sticking their fingers in their ears shouting "you're a racist & I'm not listening to you" the leave voters were thinking "you are wrong. How can I trust anything else you say?"

GinghamPink · 24/06/2016 06:03

There are people who say Cameron is arrogant but that doesn't mean all remain voters are arrogant. Hasn't anyone considered that you're voting to leave you're not voting for farage. We have minds of our own I think it's sad if people have voted based on another persons opinion

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 24/06/2016 06:03

I have one friend that voted out and she voted because she doesn't like the fact that there are so many poles
In her local school - maybe I am biased but I think racism is a HUGE driver - shameful shameful

twittwooery · 24/06/2016 06:03

Thing is the problem with Sharias post, I don't think the new controls and points system will give +/- points for skin colour

Acardwithbigletters · 24/06/2016 06:04

I think the leave voters who are not racist are the minority.

Look at twitter. Disgusting things being said about immigrants.

I actually could see many of the non immigration related brexit arguments. But voting the same way as Farage and Nick Griffin? Never.

Onthedowns · 24/06/2016 06:04

Once again on this thread it's come down to immigration did no one think about the economy!

PrettyDumb · 24/06/2016 06:04

Excellent post Eebah

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 06:04

IAm here you are if you want to be more shocked by my pomposity.
