I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

My parents voted leave because they remember it used to be better. No other real reason (well, Daily Mail ones). I'm struggling to want to speak to them currently.

Bearbehind · 24/06/2016 05:39

It means we no longer have to worry about freedom of movement riding roughshod over everything

Really? Do you honestly believe that?

You and your fellow voters are going to be sadly disappointed.

Do you really think we will be able to negotiate trade deals without freedom of movement being part of the package?

pickledpears · 24/06/2016 05:39

I voted leave because I feel wales has no voice and although I know this isn't just an eu issue it's a government issue, leaving the eu is a step in the right direction.

The government has made no plans for developing public services and infrastructure to cope with the high levels of immigration.

Cameron's deal with the eu was rubbish, if it had been better I would have been more likely to vote remain.

Rebecca2014 · 24/06/2016 05:39

I voted out because Cameron deal with the EU was a sham, it showed they are so arrogant and didn't give a fuck about how we felt. Immigration was an issue as well, we need control of our borders and go ahead call me racist. Call over 16 million people in the UK racist, grow up remain ppl

Bytheseabythesea · 24/06/2016 05:40

People probably voted leave because they lap up a media that wants to retain a tight grip on the relevant powers in this country and promotes othering of people and fear tactics to divide public opinion. Leave supporters also seem to have felt patronised by the remain campaign, but also as far as I can tell did not really seek to understand the economic, political and legal issues. Power is being handed to literally the worst people in the country who act only in self interest and have no regard for the British public. The impact of brexit will be felt most negatively among the communities that voted for it. What a fucking mess.

Fauchelevent · 24/06/2016 05:40

I'm one of Shariamom's "non-whites" but I was born here and have UK citizenship. Most EU migrants are white. Interesting.

Meggymoodle · 24/06/2016 05:41

The stupid stupid thing is that we will still have to have freedom of movement if we want to have any form of workable economy and access to the EU market. I'm terrified of us turning into a xenophobic, racist, call it what you will mess in fortress Britain- regardless of the moral aspect, we will implode. DH woke me at 5 to tell me the news which frankly I could have waited 2 hours for and we have already discussed emigration. (Sorry that didn't answer your question OP but I needed a rant somewhere.)

branofthemist · 24/06/2016 05:42

I voted out because Cameron deal with the EU was a sham, it showed they are so arrogant and didn't give a fuck about how we felt.

I think this is a huge thing. Cameron's renegotiation was the nail in the coffin. I think it made a lot of people's minds up. They felt we have no power, no say and just have to suck it up.

MUjunkie · 24/06/2016 05:42

Well everyone who voted leave are uneducated racists! Really? If that's true there is a bigger problem in the UK than this referendum! 50% of our country are fkn racist idiots!

What a load of bolloks!

So much for democracy!

Want2bSupermum · 24/06/2016 05:42

marmite For whom is the British economy growing?

It isn't growing for the average Brit who sees countless lower level jobs shipped off to EU countries with lower wages.

It isn't growing for those who spend a huge amount of their income on inflated property prices.

It isn't growing for those working in some areas, such as trades and childcare, who have seen huge numbers arrive from EE and keep wages depressed.

blinkowl · 24/06/2016 05:42

Shariamom you are so deluded it's shameful.

But you will get to witness the stupidity of your actions.

You won't have to worry about foreign types getting NHS treatment any more for example because this government us about to destroy it. There will be no NHS to fight over.

You haven't taken back control, you've handed it to a rich elite who want to exploit you. They couldn't care less about immigrants really but they do know they can use the fear of others to manipulate people like you.

Salene · 24/06/2016 05:44

Because the towns local were once prosperous and rich with the fishing industry and now they are destitute

I hope the fishing industry comes back now we are leaving the EU.

Rebecca2014 · 24/06/2016 05:46

Laughable how they roar democracy but its only when its on their term! so now they are crying out nearly half the voting population is racist.

blinkowl · 24/06/2016 05:46

"For whom is the British economy growing?"

People are not feeling the benefits of the economy growing because of ideoligocal cuts brought in by the very people who have just been handed the reins.

You can expect much more of the same.

neverknowinglywrong · 24/06/2016 05:47

Because we don't have £150 million a week spare to be donating to other countries when we have so many of our own people in need.

Because the EU is undemocratic and I believe in democracy.

Because it will help us be more firm with illegal and economic migrants.

Lynnm63 · 24/06/2016 05:48

I voted out because Cameron's deal was bullshit that wasn't legally binding, because there's a recession coming anyway and this way we're not bailing out the PIGS agsin.
Also the EU delayed the eu budget from the 17th June, if they weren't looking for MORE money from us they'd have published it.
I object to Gideon and Dave threatening us, we are big enough to stand on our own.
Finally, my parents voted to join a free market not a United States of Europe. We were lied to in 1975.

neverknowinglywrong · 24/06/2016 05:48

And I'm not old and have many higher level qualifications!

exLtEveDallas · 24/06/2016 05:48

DH voted leave due to the threat of a EU Army. I think Lord Guthrie coming out was his final kicker.

twittwooery · 24/06/2016 05:48

Well these jobs Brexit were meant to provide 14,000 Steel worker jobs currently at risk from Tata Strel because of Brexit blogs.ft.com/westminster/liveblogs/2016-06-22/

neverknowinglywrong · 24/06/2016 05:49

Because the EU we are a part of, and its associated laws and regulations, is over-bloated and not what we originally agreed to.

AlpacaLypse · 24/06/2016 05:49

I voted leave because the EU in its current form is an arrogant bloated mess, and thanks to its own internal structure is unreformable.

Lynnm63 · 24/06/2016 05:49

Yes democracy is fine if us little people do what we're fucking told but when we dare to vote the 'wrong' way they call us fucking racists.

Inyournightdress · 24/06/2016 05:51

A) we never had freedom of movement into this country. The rest of Europe did, we kept boarder controls

B) I can garuntee immigration will not change because of Brexit.

Acardwithbigletters · 24/06/2016 05:51

There are a lot of leave voters who are racists.

Sharia mom is a good example. Do you deny her post is racist?

JayDot500 · 24/06/2016 05:52

I'm a non white who voted to remain and out of everything I could now be upset about, it's Scotland and northern Ireland potentially leaving us that brings a tear to my eye. They have every reason to leave the UK now and I'd not blame them.
