I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

  • expense - corruption - war mongering with Ukraine - ever increasing expansion - desire of EU superstate - long term economic disaster - treatment of Greece - completely unwilling to reform - lack of control in terms of law making eg minimum alcohol pricing
BriteRainbowBright · 24/06/2016 05:26

Sovereignty & an accountable government who LISTEN to the people. That's priceless.

LyndaNotLinda · 24/06/2016 05:26

What wasn't racist about what Sharia wrote MU?

vichill · 24/06/2016 05:26

cue a lot of cleverly worded I'm not racist but...

Lighteningirll · 24/06/2016 05:27

Because I want an end to the bloated European bureaucrats, because I believe after a period of adjustment our economy will be safer and stronger. I believe the eu is an unnecessary layer of red tape. I believe we should trade globally, our scientific research, medical research need to be freed from eu dominance. Immigration is not the issue for me I come from a family of fishermen the eu is an appalling institution I never voted to be part of.

Momamum · 24/06/2016 05:28

totally agree. Round here they don't like Johnny Forriner and that's why they all voted out. Still stunned by the result.seems unreal.

Lighteningirll · 24/06/2016 05:29

And calling me racist tells me you have no real argument vichill the name calling nastiness of the remain campaign has been shocking it's playground bullying on a national scale

MardyGrave · 24/06/2016 05:29

A remain voter personally, but of the people I know who voted leave was to have accountable and elected decision making.

A fear of the future infrastructure lagging behind the expected growth that we are already experiencing, in lack of housing, school places, nhs etc.

A fundamental conflict with the principle of the free movement of people.

having no trust in the experts that play with the economy, and feeling like its a remote roller coaster that fat cats and banker wankers ride.

The arrogance of the eu seniors who stated there would be no offer on the table, and the feeling that this was a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to grab.

Historically being a bit rebellious and anti establishment, take back control.

wonkylegs · 24/06/2016 05:29

The group outside our polling station this morning that were chatting were voting leave because all the housebuilding in the village that was needed "because of all those immigrants" - they failed to see that the only immigrants in our village are the Chinese couple that run the takeaway, the guys who run the Indian restaurant and the American GP - all services they use and that in our region EU immigration is really not an issue and has bugger all to do with executive housebuilding on greenfield sites around our village.

Toria2014 · 24/06/2016 05:30

Because the EU is corrupt and heading for failure. Things needed shaking up, they are running roughshod over all of us. The status quo needs to change.

Momamum · 24/06/2016 05:30

Shit, I slowly typed mine as a reply to the first couple of posts, disassociating myself from the post above mine,

CanadianJohn · 24/06/2016 05:31

I wish people would not use the term "racism" when they probably mean "xenophobia".

SwedishEdith · 24/06/2016 05:32

From Twitter "This means, England, you may wish to negotiate nice deal with Germany for free trade excluding migration but Romania and Poland can veto it."

AliceScarlett · 24/06/2016 05:32

A fear of the future infrastructure lagging behind the expected growth that we are already experiencing, in lack of housing, school places, nhs etc.

How will leaving the EU help? Will a portion of the current UK population leave? Or is this a "future proofing" thing?

OP posts:
Acardwithbigletters · 24/06/2016 05:33

I think you'll find sharia's post was racist. Not xenophobic.

As she is apparently ignoring all non-whites who were born here and are therefore British. Like me for instance.

Want2bSupermum · 24/06/2016 05:34

I voted to leave because ehat started as a trading block has morphed into something much bigger and I don't think it is in the UKs interests to throw away systems and processes that have evolved over centuries and work quite well.

I also had a problem with free movement of people within the EU. Why should an EU resident be able to up sticks and move to the UK when someone from outside of the EU has to jump through hoops just to get a visa to remain more than 90 days. I think we should have equal access for all.

mamamea · 24/06/2016 05:34

To annoy the holier-than-thou types who create threads like these.

Shariamom · 24/06/2016 05:34

It means we no longer have to worry about freedom of movement riding roughshod over everything

Marmitelover55 · 24/06/2016 05:35

I voted remain. I think lots of the leavers have used this referendum as a protest vote without really considering the consequences.

Our economy was growing, unemployment was at a 7 year low and we were coming out the other side of austerity.

God knows what happens now.

MardyGrave · 24/06/2016 05:36

I think that comes down to wanting to reduce incoming numbers, a feeling that the infrastructure cannot cope with the amount of people in the uk currently, why choose to keep an open door policy?

Of course there's the secondary issue of funding still needing to be applied to aforementioned infrastructure, with some people wanting this to be public service expenditure and others being happy for private companies to be allowed to swoop in, but that's what we the public can vote on.

AliceScarlett · 24/06/2016 05:36

To annoy the holier-than-thou types who create threads like these.

What those that try to have a curious attitude and think critically about things? Right. Well, well done. I am more than annoyed, I'm pretty fucking upset.

OP posts:
branofthemist · 24/06/2016 05:36

And it's happening in this thread. People voting brexit are

Racist
Xenophobic
Uneducated

If someone is trying to make up their mind and they are alienated, They will go the other way.

Labour and its supporters did it in the last General Election and it's happened again.

MUjunkie · 24/06/2016 05:36

Lyndanotlinda...that may be one persons opinion but not everyone's! Certainly not mine!

FoggyBottom · 24/06/2016 05:36

How many of you voted "leave" as a protest vote, but couldn't be bothered to vote in the last General Election?

Well you lot better have some ideas about how you're going to get us out of the mess you've now got us into.

And stay the fuck away from me.

Roonerspism · 24/06/2016 05:38

Absolutely not.

Let's steady the ship, make plans and stop the blaming. Blame is what got us here.
