To think my mother laughing at my son's private parts is extremely inappropriate

I was on holiday with my 68 year old mother last week. One evening whilst changing my three year old son's nappy she walked over, pointed at his bits, laughed and said 'it's like a penis only smaller'

I yelled at her and told her it was very inappropriate and isn't at all funny as it will give him a complex and it's cruel and unkind.

She says he doesn't understand but I don't care. I don't think you should do this to a child.

I was then criticised for being miserable with no sense of humour and a bitch. Am I being unreasonable?

So she made a "small dick" joke about a three year old?

Eurgh.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 22/06/2016 23:49

Well it is a penis. Your mum sounds like a bit of an idiot.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 22/06/2016 23:51

Was she being weird and rude or weird and somehow 'ah cute, it's in miniature' type of misplaced weirdiness?

Both are weird and wrong, just want to know which I'm reacting to!

MrsJoeyMaynard · 22/06/2016 23:53

Of course it's extremely inappropriate.

acasualobserver · 22/06/2016 23:53

What a really odd thing to say. Is your mother known for having a somewhat unusual sense of humour?

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 22/06/2016 23:57

Seems like an ok lighthearted comment to me. YABU.

Datedthedevil · 22/06/2016 23:59

MiscellaneousAssortment she was trying to be funny and it wasn't meant in a cute way.

I swear it happened Coconutty. I was horrified. She saw nothing wrong with her comment.

Why should this be deleted? I genuinely don't know if I'm over reacting or not.

It is weird - but your DS is far more like to remember you yelling at your mum and the argument that resulted, than he is to remember her bizarre comment.

SilverBirchWithout · 23/06/2016 00:05

Name change fail. Hmm

acasualobserver · 23/06/2016 00:06

OP, why did you start with a capital 'd' and then have a lower case one in subsequent posts?

Datedthedevil · 23/06/2016 00:07

I have two names - I can never remember which one I'm supposed to use on here as I haven't been on in ages. I used to have 'datedthedevil' as my ex was a twat and then caramelbutthorn as its an anagram of my name :)

Your mum's got to 68 had children and she still doesn't know what a penis is.

Datedthedevil · 23/06/2016 00:08

PerspicaciaTick - we had the discussion out of ear shot so he couldn't hear

OP posts:
PerspicaciaTick · 23/06/2016 00:09

Are you using three different names all on the one thread then?

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 23/06/2016 00:10

Do I win bingo?

Orwellschild · 23/06/2016 00:11

Third thread I've reported tonight, starting to feel like Magnum P.I

Hmm
Confusednotcom · 23/06/2016 00:14

I wouldn't hang around your mum much if I were you, if she thinks that sort of thing is funny. Hurtful yes. Inappropriate yes. But in no way amusing.

Datedthedevil · 23/06/2016 00:15

huh? three names? I posted it as datedthedevil as i thought that was what my user name was but i guess its not?! As i said, i haven't used this is in 3+ years so please be kind!
