I am an intelligent woman. I am well educated. I can't for the life of me work out what is truth and what is fiction. I have no idea what is right for this country.

I don't want to spoil my vote. I want to vote, and vote with conviction. But I don't have the first clue which way to vote. I'm a nurse and I love my NHS, if that makes a difference to how I should vote.

The EU has a fundamental principle of equality between women and men and it has done a great deal to move anti-discrimination law onto the statute books of all EU countries and this is especially true of women's equality. This did not happen all by itself because there are more male decision makers there as here, but through the efforts of millions of us women throughout the EU working together to keep the EU on track. Good enough for me.

^^ wonderful but are the citizens on the same page? Its just I had an issue where I live with neigbours , I had to call police and I never dared to mention their nationality...the operator asked me are they X,,,,and reluctantly I said "Yes".. (they spoke poor English) . I was told by the policeman that " this nationality is known for being sexist but they are in UK now and have to abide by our laws)...and for the poster who love to say " brown forriners..." these were WHITE from the EU. And it wasn't an isolated incident at one time either....

i've stopped reading, to an extent... i've made up my mind, based on what i 'know' and my initial instinct which told me that Britain shouldn't alienate itself. i doubt anything would change my mind now but i'm aware that there are good and bad arguments on both sides

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 19/06/2016 01:20

YNBU. I'm still undecided, infact. Undecided to the point where I'm thinking of tossing a coin for best out of 5, and let fate decide for me.

t4 and anyone else interested in the EU Army.

There is another thread I'm on and I hate to do this but it is relevant to this thread. Basically Junker has been calling for an EU Army. We are making a decision about the future of Britain in the EU based in a false set of parameters. The reality is quite a bit different when it comes to the military. Basically we will have an EU army because that's what has already been decided. Funny that this vote is now and not after its fully advertised that the EU will have its own Army created out of existing EU armed forces.

albertcampionscat · 19/06/2016 04:56

Eh? Junker floated the idea. All mainstream UK parties said no way - I'd be surprised if many other nation states reacted differently. You need an unanimous decision from all member states on 'common foreign and security policy (with the exception of certain clearly defined cases which require qualified majority, e.g. appointment of a special representative).'

In other words the big scary EU army that closes down the RAF ain't going to happen just as Turkey ain't going to join the EU.

Want2bSupermum · 19/06/2016 06:29

What are you talking about. The RAF is already skeletal and barely exists today. Air support for the British army is not from the RAF but from the Americans or another EU countries.

anrulawson · 19/06/2016 07:46

Right from the beginning (Treaty of Rome) the EU has been committed to equality between women and men. Since then women through our organisations and the European Women's Lobby have worked to grow and instill women's advancement across the board. In fact the EU has been critically important in requiring member states to put non-discrimination on their statute books. For me, that is reason enough to want to remain.

unlucky83 · 19/06/2016 11:12

An one EU woman's committee or similar closed down discussion of the Cologne NYE attacks and concerns about vast numbers of young men from a misogynistic culture arriving, causing a gender imbalance etc and the attempted police and media and political cover up - and the political response (women should keep men at arm's length or not go out alone at night ) as 'racist' - no acknowledgement, no discussion of potential problems, no looking at solutions - it couldn't even be talked about?
Sorry but that isn't representing women's freedoms ...

SouperSal · 19/06/2016 11:15

Try this. Half an hour of considered and well researched discussion.

As to the EU army not going to happen ....
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/17/field-marshal-lord-guthrie-why-i-now-back-the-leave-campaign/
And he isn't on his own

If people who are responsible for our defence are worried about it I think we should be too...
