Yes louche because the fact that something happened once means it can NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN..

Have you got nothing better to do than hang around on the same thread calling everyone a liar who suggests that something has happened in their life which may previously have happened to someone else and been reported on the Internet/in a random publication? Stupid question clearly..

There may well be people out there called ladasha, an admin staff member may more than once have heard 'with a c' as 'withersea'. Why is that so hard for you to believe that you'd rather call several posters liars in a snotty and pretentious fashion?

StrangeLookingParasite · 17/06/2016 12:21

Darn sounds like what you say if you believe in heck.

StickChildNumberTwo · 17/06/2016 12:40

The list of names given in Scotland in 2014 (which includes all the rare ones) lists one girl called Nevaeha. I'm assuming it's a variant on Nevaeh, which seems particularly silly given the whole point of the name in the first place is its spelling.

ICanSeeForMiles · 17/06/2016 12:45

Keeva and Anjay are two people I see regularly.
There's a khalessi (game of thrones for queen) in the local nursery.

ICanSeeForMiles · 17/06/2016 12:47

Oh, and a Storm too.

LoucheLady · 17/06/2016 12:48

Who is calling anyone a liar? Not me. Keep your hair on.

ValerieSweet · 17/06/2016 12:51

Have we covered everything yet?

  • 'La-thedashdon'tbesilent-a'
  • snide digs turning into open insults (come on! you can't SAY a name is chavvy. You have to pretend you're genuinely concerned about the child's future and/or the English language)
  • foreign names and variants thrown into the mix
  • have we started on African American names yet? Shaniqua, DeShawn!
  • no, seriously: I know there have been ten trillion repetitions of L-a, but mine is for real

Makes me want to name my next kid Magrat Frogmella DotCom ThisSpaceForRent Condoleezza GoFuckYourselves. Surname is Cholmondeley-Warner.

LoucheLady · 17/06/2016 13:01

TBF we've not had Gooey and Why-voan-ee yet.

MyKingdomForBrie · 17/06/2016 13:03

Hair still firmly in place thanks, and of course you're calling the posters telling their stories liars, don't be deliberately obtuse.

LoucheLady · 17/06/2016 13:17

No I'm not. That's not how the psychology of urban legends works. Never mind though.

MyKingdomForBrie · 17/06/2016 13:20

Ah I see! You're subtly alluding to complex psychology that I couldn't possibly understand.

Definitely not saying that as the posters are relaying stories which you believe are not true that they're lying.

Janeymoo50 · 17/06/2016 13:38

I have just seen on FB a new baby called Paislee.

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 17/06/2016 14:04

Why von ee was mentioned up thread
And I'm quite happy to say the posters who have met baby ladashas are chatting shit

LoucheLady · 17/06/2016 14:16

Give it a rest Brie. No, I'm not calling you or anyone else a liar. I'm saying there's a degree of willing suspension of disbelief inherent in urban legends. I don't think that's a particularly subtle or original point or that it's beyond anyone's grasp on here.

Drbint · 17/06/2016 14:59

Twinkle for a girl.

I went to school with a family of 5 kids who all had made up names starting with one letter (eg Boda, Bega, Bagynn) and a completely invented surname that neither of their parents had.

TheEternalForever · 17/06/2016 16:08

My name is Alicia (pronounced Al-ee-sha). It's the traditional spelling and pronunciation, but for my entire life people have been pronouncing it Al-ee-see-ah if they see it written down and spelling it Alesha, Alisha, Aleesha etc etc etc if I say it. It does get grating, especially when I have to constantly repeat "no actually it's pronounced ..." or "no the spelling is ..." to the SAME PEOPLE over and over again because they of course know better than me. I'm almost 21 and I've only recently had my first takeaway drink with the correct spelling on! After years of trying! I did go into a Starbucks once a couple of years ago though, gave my name when prompted, and it was spelled "Aaleeshyiah"...they were really covering all bases there Grin

2nds · 17/06/2016 16:28

I've always pronounced Alicia as A-lee-sha

Calminacrisis · 17/06/2016 16:42

Rebekah: perfectly acceptable, very early spelling of the name.
I once taught a Leee.....

TheCrumpettyTree · 17/06/2016 16:48

I've always pronounced Alicia is Alice-ee-a. I have a friend with that name too. To me Alesha is Al-ee-sha.

Greyponcho · 17/06/2016 16:55

Have we had Ysabel yet?
True.

FireTruckOhFireTruck · 17/06/2016 17:17

How endless would you pronounce Alicia?

FireTruckOhFireTruck · 17/06/2016 17:17

Sorry, bloody autocorrect! I meant how else.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/06/2016 17:49

A-liss-ia or A-lee-sha FireTruck.

I'd probably go for the first way, because I have two friends who say it like that, so that's how I know the name. I also know a Felicia - she pronounces it Fe-liss-ia and not Fel-ee-sha.

But if you tell me how to say it I will get it right!

FireTruckOhFireTruck · 17/06/2016 18:08

Ahh yes I think I have heard A-liss-is, I didn't think about how it could be spelt!

FireTruckOhFireTruck · 17/06/2016 18:08

A-liss-ia even!
