Husband, ex military man appropriately named dick, did a lot of telly in the early noughties about engineering projects, and living green etc. Involving all his family.

Seems he's had a mid life crisis and is now with a young cockney vintage person called Angel, has started a second family and is now living with her and youngsters in France in a ruin d chateau allegedly bought for. 280 k with 12 acres and a renovation budget of 20k.

All lovey Dovey. Constantly nose bumping etc. Decorating the honeymoon suite. And Lo! Her parents have arrived to live with them ( and no doubt contribute to the budget.)

All feels very yuck.

The house is certainly full of potential, and I'm rather jealous of their project.

The first Mrs Strawbridge did seem particularly lovely, as did her dc... I'm glad to see she's moved on, I always felt she seemed too nice for Dick.

Not sure what to make of Angel tbh, she seems sincere enough but she isn't really my cup of tea.

HopeIsNotAStrategy · 02/12/2018 20:51

It struck me the other day that this programme is crying out for Matt Lucas and David Williams to do a Little Britain take off.

Somebody somewhere pleeeaaassse! 😊

owlshooting · 02/12/2018 20:56

Scrap - why was he unpleasant? They both seem lovely, though Angel is a bit strange in the way she dresses , but each to their own.

Not keen on Angel (or is it Angela?). She is just so little girly and twee. So silly for a grown woman.

I agree about a Mat Lucas and David Williams take off. Angel looks a lot like Mat Lucas

owlshooting · 02/12/2018 21:10

She calls herself Angel though.

Scrapheap · 02/12/2018 21:22

At lunch he was asked one of those polite conversation starters, in a getting to know you kind of way and used that as a springboard to bitch about the original Mrs S. Everyone looked embarrassed and moved the talk on.
He was rude to the runner (young people getting a start in TV).
He's sexist, egotistical, completely uninterested in others and without any engineering depth or knowledge.
A big disappointment to the programme due to his lack of engagement. The edit suite worked very hard to turn it around.

owlshooting · 02/12/2018 21:29

Oh interesting . He does seem to be a good engineer though? He seems to be able to make anything!
Seems a bit up himself though!

mydogisthebest · 02/12/2018 21:35

She calls herself Angel but Dick calls her Angela! I find it hilarious

Why does the op and some posters have to be so mean spirited.

I’ve seen the programme and find it lovely viewing. The family are so loveable, I can’t understand all the vitriol towards them.

If you don’t like them, don’t watch!

NameChanger22 · 09/12/2018 20:53

I have a giggle every time Dick stands on his drawbridge. Is it just me?

Tigresswoods · 09/12/2018 22:38

@Wearywithteens did you watch tonight? Turns out that grannieflat was "temporary accommodation"!!

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2018 23:32

I haven't seen it for a while. Have they finished doing up the chateau yet?

Tigresswoods · 11/12/2018 20:21

I'm not sure they'll ever finish but they've made amazing progress!

Her name is Angela

Her name is Angela"

I know what you mean I ALWAYS refuse to use peoples' preferred shortenings of their own names. There's no Charlies, Ricks, Geoffs, Freds, Bobs, Dicks or Angels in my life. I simply refuse to have anything to do with them.

mumlost1940 · 20/12/2018 19:16

I agree: a rather mean spirited Post. It's a couple who are just trying to spread a little happiness while entertaining TV viewers. Good Luck to them.

Grinchly · 20/12/2018 21:09

Huh? They are being paid so they can afford more of that twee hipster shite!

Hettyboo12 · 20/12/2018 21:36

Not sure why she doesn't come across well? I think she's rather sweet

longwayoff · 20/12/2018 21:59

Blimey you miserable lot what have they done to you? Bought a house they can't afford and funding it through a tv programme. Never heard of that happening before. And she calls herself a silly name. Never heard of that before either. What else? Its not as if she's snaffled Prince Harry ... .

bellabasset · 21/12/2018 07:29

I do have sympathy for the first Mrs Strawbridge but not for the reason you might expect. Their farmhouse in Cornwall was up for sale and prospective buyers rented it for a few years before leaving. They left problems at the property which Brigit Strawbridge Howard is having to sort out.

TooTrueToBeGood · 21/12/2018 11:29

"Alexa, calculate the number of fucks to give please".

"I'm sorry, I cannot divide by zero".

empa · 23/12/2018 21:24

Didn't like the Christmas party much, beautiful decorations and presents all looked a bit soulless. Surprised Angel didn't put more thought into better lighting, the most important ingredient in any room setting, especially at Christmas.
