Husband, ex military man appropriately named dick, did a lot of telly in the early noughties about engineering projects, and living green etc. Involving all his family.

Seems he's had a mid life crisis and is now with a young cockney vintage person called Angel, has started a second family and is now living with her and youngsters in France in a ruin d chateau allegedly bought for. 280 k with 12 acres and a renovation budget of 20k.

All lovey Dovey. Constantly nose bumping etc. Decorating the honeymoon suite. And Lo! Her parents have arrived to live with them ( and no doubt contribute to the budget.)

All feels very yuck.

So they broke up eight years ago and he then married his current wife three years ago and has a new family - it's hardly breaking news is it?

Dick tweeted this weekend that Angel had just celebrated her 40th birthday! Hmmm.....

A friend of mine is good friend's with Brigit. She's very happily remarried, no need to feel sorry for her.

I watched last week and found myself liking Angel. She seems fun and warm. Can't get past Dick's facial hair unfortunately - how could he possibly eat anything without decorating his beard and moustache with it. Ew.

Doesn't seem too long ago since he was living the good life in Cornwall with Brigit and his children and their friends. I seem to remember it being filmed that long hot summer of 2006. It was like the Larkins. Brigit seems to be doing alright though. She's a committed environmentalist - good for her.

I think they are well suited. As hosts I think Angel and Dick would be great. He's irrepressible but to have to live at his pace everyday? So maybe his first wife wanted a quieter life and the ability to pursue her interests. I hope she has found that.

Their son has his own family and a catering business here in Cornwall. I saw the Cornish property is currently on the market.

I absolutely love watching Dick and Angel’s French adventures. I don’t care what the truth of her age is, they seem very happy and hardworking.....

Sorry just sniggering at Granny, I honestly never thought of that.

I do get the love of all things vintage, I truly do, but to dedicate every day to looking like a 40's pin up. Far too much effort for me to consider.

The Ex records it, then if I'm around when he watches it, all he does is moan about how stupid it is. Makes me wonder why you'd bother recording it, let alone watching it in the first place.

And your point is? I mean what do you hope to achieve from this post?

Your ex has moved on, for better or worse that was his decision.

The best thing you can do is: take care of yourself and move forward.

I feel sorry for the big Strawbridge Dc. They have been written (or not, as the case may be) out of Dick's life. I can only assume Angel wrote their biography because there is no mention of the fact that Dick has other children. The son featured with Dick in one of the programmes so it is not as if they weren't known about. The biography states that Dick has two children, Arthur and Dorothy.

Perhaps his other children didn't want to be mentioned. Or because of the age his children from previous marriage don't regard Angel as their step mum so she doesn't refer to them as her step children so in her mind she only has 2 children with dick.

Always loved dick on scrapheap and have enjoyed watching them in franc e. Managed to miss the first series so watching it in reverse.

If anyone’s interested, their old house in Cornwall is for sale.

Uncanny - I’ve just been reading the books on the first series.

Doing a bit of googling, I actually feel really sad about it. I think they were still there maybe 2010, perhaps later.

No comment on anyone’s marriage; as Elvis said, you don’t judge someone til you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. If you can help it.

But all that bloody work they put into the place! Maybe I’m just being a bloke about it, but it kind of breaks my heart. How so much can change in just a few years for some people. Would probably make my head explode..

I know nothing about him in a past life, just saw a few of the chateau programmes. Thought she (Angel) was great, have to admit I wondered what she saw in someone so hairy Grin

Wow sum really nasty comments on here abt Dick & Angel.
I presume none of you know them personally so if he has made a new life with sumone else that's their business.
His ex wife has remarried and is happy.
Why wud Angel-mention Dicks kids from previous marriage- I'm sure they wud not want to be mentioned as they value their privacy.
So come on ppl play nice & don't be so judgemental on things u know nothing about! Wink
