Husband, ex military man appropriately named dick, did a lot of telly in the early noughties about engineering projects, and living green etc. Involving all his family.

Seems he's had a mid life crisis and is now with a young cockney vintage person called Angel, has started a second family and is now living with her and youngsters in France in a ruin d chateau allegedly bought for. 280 k with 12 acres and a renovation budget of 20k.

All lovey Dovey. Constantly nose bumping etc. Decorating the honeymoon suite. And Lo! Her parents have arrived to live with them ( and no doubt contribute to the budget.)

All feels very yuck.

I know it's a zombie thread, but, If your work is movable, i would have thought that selling a pokey London flat and buying a Chateau with grounds/moat etc, yet still have money left over, is a no brainier, rather than a midlife crisis.

As said, she is 47, so if they wanted children, they didn't have time to wait around.

As a Woman of 50, so only three years older, it's nice to think that i could be regarded as the brazen younger Woman, enabling someone's Midlife crisis (utterly ridiculous).

I hate the way that the ex Wives, especially older ones, are seen as someone to be pitied. I plan on having a whale of a time, now i don't have children to interrupt my single lifestyle.

Zombie or not (and I know there is another thread about the current series on the TV board) I'd like to say I met the first Mrs. S some time ago (through work) and she is absolutely delightful.

Not sure I like the 2nd Mrs. S's taste in clothes, but each to his own ...

KC225 · 22/03/2018 02:22

Just watched the first of the 4th series tonight. I love this show. It really could run forever. I am a fan of Angel and Dick but remembering its not easy being green, still can help wondering about the first Mrs Strawbridge. Are we any the wiser, did she jumped or was she pushed?

MsHarry · 25/03/2018 20:26

I was surprised too as I'd only seen him on a boat cooking with his son James I think. Had no idea his wife was younger than his older children then realised she was his second wife. I do like watching the chateau renovations though.

Amoola · 25/03/2018 21:09

Wordsaremything. You jealous? If you think its yuck then dont watch. Must be interesting to some viewers or it wouldnt still be on the box.

MoorMummy · 25/03/2018 21:20

One of the few shows my and DH both enjoy. I love watching all their madcap schemes.

Gacapa · 25/03/2018 21:26

That rug in the bathroom is from IKEA.

Wauden · 25/03/2018 21:28

Not a fan of the mustache. Does food get lodged there?

Meowandthen · 25/03/2018 21:57

According to the article in The Telegraph in June 2026 he was 56 and she was 38. That's an 18 year age difference. Just saying.

Redland12 · 25/03/2018 22:17

I absolutely love this family and watching their progress, they have done amazingly well. I'm so pleased it's returned. Both clever people in their own fields.

AjasLipstick · 25/03/2018 22:21

Angel doesn't appear to be THAT young.

FizzyGreenWater · 25/03/2018 22:26

She's extremely young if she's going to be 38 in 2026 Grin

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 25/03/2018 22:26

I like the programme and think they are turning the chateau into a beautiful place. Angel is very alternative, but her style in that place really works. He clearly has a wide range of skills too.

He has a son James, who did the green programmes with him and a series about travelling round the coast cooking local produce. He has a daughter too, as well as the two with Angel.

TheSpottedZebra · 25/03/2018 22:38

I knew Angel(a) a bit lots of years ago and she was nice. So that's exciting.

Expat what's a Spoony? I've only heard that expression related to CFS and similar.

JaneJeffer · 26/03/2018 01:08

Haven't read the thread but here's a nice photo Grin

He is 59, she is 47. Not a huge gap. Who knows what happened with the first wife? Maybe she got tired of all the projects and wants a lie in! I enjoy the chateau programme, Dick and Angel seem happy and well suited.

FizzyGreenWater · 26/03/2018 10:10

Which one is Angel JaneJeffer ? Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/03/2018 13:37

Those two lovely k like Obelix and Asterix.

MsHarry · 26/03/2018 15:28

I love her ideas. Very creative lady.

MsHarry · 26/03/2018 15:28

47? Blimey she looks good, I'd have said 35!

Meowandthen · 27/03/2018 19:40

Why are people saying she is 47 when according to the article in The Telegraph she was 36 just two years ago? Does time move faster in France?

agedknees · 27/03/2018 20:00

I lov this programme, and I think Dick and Angel make a lovely couple. Lots of nasty jealous comments on this thread.

AMerkinInParis · 27/03/2018 20:25

Oh and I know this was on the Zombie thread, But Mrs Kyle dumped Mr Kyle for an upgrade. It's unfair that he's on this thread as someone who traded his wife in for a younger model. He absolutely didn't.

Yorkshirebetty · 28/03/2018 05:55

Angel was born 7th April 1970, Dick was born 3rd September 1959. Maybe she told The Sun she was 38, why not!!
