Last night DH said 'Why do you always go for a wee before you get into bed, even if you only went half an hour ago?'

Doesn't everyone? He thinks not- he doesn't. I have done this since being a child. On the rare occasion I haven't done it, I don't sleep well. My bladder feels irritable in bed if it isn't empty. I have to get up in the middle of the night then.

Today, SIL comes round and he asks her if she always goes to the loo before she goes to bed and she said no.

Am I just odd?

Im not normal then. If i need a wee ill go, if not then I don't. Works for me

Janey50 · 13/06/2016 18:26

Doesn't everyone? Confused . I ALWAYS go for a pre-bed wee, even if I only went half an hour before. If I didn't,I know I would be awake needing to go,3 or 4 hours later.

AmserGwin · 13/06/2016 18:28

Yes always, and I sometimes still need one in the night (or am bursting when I wake up). Always make the kids go too

Serialweightwatcher · 13/06/2016 19:08

Always have, so completely normal ..... I'm one who has to go before leaving the house even if I went 10 mins before .... drummed into me from being a kid I suppose and it's a habit now

Unicorn1981 · 13/06/2016 19:10

I always do. I can't sleep otherwise. I'd probably wake up at 4am needing to go otherwise and our bathroom is downstairs.

Lndnmummy · 13/06/2016 19:17

It has to be the last thing i do, otherwise i have to go again. Drives my dh's mad. Ie ill go, he will then ask me to maybe close the window, i then have to go again. Bonkers

RaspberryOverload · 13/06/2016 19:21

I go when I get changed for bed, and then just before I settle down to actually sleep. I often go up early to read Mumsnet but I just can't sleep if I feel like I need to wee.

Mrswinkler · 13/06/2016 19:49

No, not odd but I don't do it.

DS never does either. I don't even make him go before long car journeys; he just seems to know whether he needs to or not.

JohnBarrowmaniac · 13/06/2016 19:51

You are not odd. I have a wee before going to bed, then read for about half an hour and always have to go for another wee before lights out. i will also have to get up once or twice in the night for yet more urination. Is it may age do you think? (49).

mum2Bomg · 13/06/2016 19:52

I do this every night x

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 13/06/2016 20:00

I do think it's age as such, I'm also 49 and I'm one of the ones who doesn't do it if I've been in the last hour or so.

Sariward · 13/06/2016 20:01

Always go for a week before bed! And usually get up at least once in the night to wee too. Husband seems to be able to go hrs without going to the loo. I just don't know how one falls asleep needing the loo! So totally normal Smile

MimsyBorogroves · 13/06/2016 20:03

I usually head up to bed, have a wee, then DH comes up half an hour later so I have another wee. And then if I wake in the night I will wee then, too.

Bloody bladder, I'm 34.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 13/06/2016 20:14

I wouldn't go to bed needing the loo, I agree that's not sensible, but for me if I've been in the last hour or so then that's usually sufficient to get me through to the morning so I won't go again "just in case".

LuluJakey1 · 13/06/2016 20:23

DH has read the thread and admitted I am in the vast majority and he and SIL are odd. Grin

I can't remember what I used to do pre-pregnancy, but fairly sure I would always have gone before bed. When I was pregnant I learned the useful art of having a wee, cleaning my teeth then managing another wee almost immediately. If I didn't do the second one I would wake in the night (and often did anyway, tbh). Now the twins are eight, but I have always done the double wee thing before bed, ever since. My son has to wee or he used to sometimes wet the bed, so I always remind him to go after doing his teeth, but my daughter very rarely does. Not sure about DH - think he does too. YANBU.

andsmile · 13/06/2016 20:47

we all do in this house

andsmile · 13/06/2016 20:47

Does he ever get up durign the night though? none of us do.

toldmywrath · 13/06/2016 20:49

Yes I do - get ready for bed, teeth brushed & then wee. Into bed to read & then wee again before lights out. I thought it was normal (for women anyway- men in my house seem to have stronger bladder than me)

Atthebottomofthegarden · 13/06/2016 20:53

Yep OP I'm with you, wee, teeth, upstairs, another wee Blush, pjs, bed!

LuluJakey1 · 13/06/2016 20:59

He only gets up for a wee if he has had two or three pints. If he has had 4 he passes out for at least 10 hours and nothing wakes him.

Rainbow · 13/06/2016 21:11

No I go every night before bed. I have done since a child. My sisters, mum, sons and niblings do too xx

BaggyCheeks · 13/06/2016 21:14

Yanbu. Wee, teeth, PJs, bed. Maybe wee again if I'm awake a while longer because I get paranoid that I'll wake up pissing the bed. It's never happened, but the fear is real.

This thread has made me need to wee though.

Pinklily1 · 13/06/2016 21:25

Definitely not odd! I can't go to bed without going for a wee first, regardless of when I've last been!

MargotLovedTom · 13/06/2016 21:25

I always have one before I get into bed but then that's it. I couldn't be fagged with getting up and having another one before going to sleep.
