His face was a picture when Allison Pearson asked him to give it a rest, --put a sock in it, as all the men on the panel had their at turn at speaking and now 'she wanted to say something'
Priceless.

Also, why's he on it? He keeps butting in..

I'm trying to think who he reminds me of in that beret, it's really bugging me...

GetAHaircutCarl · 10/06/2016 16:52

It's very odd his chosen look. Beret, mat lipstick, long nails. It's like something my Nan would have considered glamorous in the 80s.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 10/06/2016 16:59

"The EU freedom of movement automatically discriminates against ex colonies and in fact everywhere non EU. It is blatant discrimination. It is the one thing that really makes me cross. An unskilled person from within the EU can work anywhere but from India you need a visa.
I am generally pro Europe but I do find this point difficult.
As for the polarised arguments on question time. Well they show everyone up as inflexible and a little stupid."

YES! This x1000

ArcheryAnnie · 10/06/2016 17:04

Well, I'm really pissed-off now. This is what happened when Allison Pearson asked the BBC why she was the only woman on the panel.

(The BBC complaints line is 0370 010 0222 if you are as pissed-off as I am.)

mummymeister · 10/06/2016 17:13

Whaaattt???? is this for real? does Allison Pearson realise the shit she is in if this isn't.

my goodness if it is what the hell is going on at the BBC. oh I get it, lets just wheel in a minority and that is that box ticked. anyone who isn't stale, pale and male will do.

awful, awful response from the public broadcaster.

I have never yet seen an all female panel on QT but many, many times all male.

Broadcasting standards complaint time I think!

ArcheryAnnie · 10/06/2016 17:15

Except Eddie Izzard is stale, pale and male!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/06/2016 17:22

For a quiet life squoosh!

grimbletart · 10/06/2016 17:30

I was getting such a sense of deja vu with EI and couldn't really work out why, until I realised he sounded just like many of the late 1950s/1960s' students I was at college with…"hey man, all you need is love" etc. while smoking weed and trying to persuade you to go on a CND march (except they usually had beards and sandals, not pink berets and nail varnish).

Eddie the retro would-be politician reliving the 1950s.

derxa · 10/06/2016 17:33

Except Eddie Izzard is stale, pale and male! He's no different to the rest of them - public school preaching to the masses.

mummymeister · 10/06/2016 17:54

I am sure EI wouldn't call himself stale pale and male would he?

Grayson Perry - why is he on QT other than the fact he is "alternative"

don't see any women cross dressers/transvestites on there.

3dogsandacat · 10/06/2016 17:59

As for the the many times he said we all need to get on in the World (or words to that effect), he couldn't even get on with the people sitting next to him in a civilised manner.

Too funny Grin

I think we could have a panel with union officials, business owners, third sector services providers. these are all people I want to hear from with their opinions and views.

I agree, that's what they should do.
But, would that draw in the viewers?

I think having a token celeb on the panel is meant to increase the ratings.

A cross between Pearl from Last of the Summer Wine, Enid Sharpels and Les Dawson's Woman chatting with Neighbour over the Fence?

Or is it edith sharpels? Grin

Why was Alison Pearson the only female on the panel? Confused Anybody know?

I thought programs like this were meant to have a fair representation of both sexes.

I felt sorry for her - she really battled to be heard over all those male voices.

Eddie Izzard's best mate, Jo Brand, was writing in The Times the other day, attacking Brexit voters as basically "superficial" twats Hmm. She wasn't joking either, that was the full measure of her political analysis. Sir Ian McKellan, another luvvie, added his tuppence worth today by stating "'Brexit makes no sense if you're gay" which must rank as one of the most nonsensical, self-indulgent luvvie statement ever. · Clearly these people have a very low opinion of British people and a very, very high opinion of themselves..

NameChanger22 · 10/06/2016 18:18

I really liked Eddie Izzard, he was the only one with a heart on the panel. He made some very good points. QT would be very boring if it was just white men in suits telling us all what to think. I think everyone on MN is being pretty rude his personal appearance etc. I like his beret. I like people who show a tiny bit of individuality in a country where we're increasingly being asked to have none.

Nigel Farage wants controlled immigration Confused - we have that already last time I checked. Idiot. I don't understand first and second generation immigrants who want to pull up the drawbridge now because they're in, they don't have to worry. Have they all been brainwashed or are they just the most selfish people on the planet? I can't make up my mind.

He was looking for his friend Kimberley. Have you seen her?

They'll sort everything out.

Everyone?

He made some very good points

What were they? I only saw it from around half way through, but I struggled to disentangle a lot of what he was saying. (And I say that as a fan of his comedy who knows many of his riffs off pat, I've watched them so many times).

TortoiseSmile · 10/06/2016 18:24

Obviously Nigel Farage doesn't think its controlled enough, I think thats the point. As for Europe, its not really controlled at all, its called free movement for a reason - anyone can come here from EC. I don't think people are "idiots" for acknowledging that! And politicians idiots is not a political argument, its just abusive language.

oliviabenson2 · 10/06/2016 18:26

She really battled, because her arguments were weak and she had to be corrected by Nigel Farage on some of the facts (slightly bizarre as he was on the same side....). And she was dull and whiny.

Not quite sure why she was chosen really
