"I feel sorry for my sons" are just new ways of saying "I hate feminists"?

It's not a matter of opinion. It's fact. You can choose not to believe those facts, obviously, but why would you? I guess you have your own reasons for that.

Out of curiosity, how many of those statistics take into account repeat offenders?

Jasonandyawegunorts · 11/06/2016 15:22

You have to remember 1 crime doesn't = 1 person.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 11/06/2016 15:22

on average how many rapist are repeat offenders?

Jasonandyawegunorts · 11/06/2016 15:23

if most of them are then you "statistics" would pretty much half right there.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 11/06/2016 15:23

derxa - I know where you're coming from.

Some feminists yell misogynist at anyone who doesn't agree with them and that pushes people away from feminism. Then you get threads started about what the fuck is wrong with women who aren't feminists, bloody hand maidens. People try to explain and have misogynist yelled at them again.

Bert will ask for examples and proof. I think I took a screen shot of some once, just in case Grin

GraysAnalogy · 11/06/2016 15:23

I'm trying to figure out why males being perpetrators of crime would mean we can't be worried for our sons.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 11/06/2016 15:24

You can twist statistics however you like.

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2016 15:24

"One has a woman sitting quietly in it. They are both of equal height and weight. Which compartment would you prefer your teenage child to get into?
Either."
So do you not believe the statistics about violent crime, then? Are they made up?

OP posts:
TheStoic · 11/06/2016 15:26

Then multiplied by the huge amount of assaults that are never officially reported?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 11/06/2016 15:26

The vast majority of crime by men is against other men though (or shops, or cars) not women.

TheStoic · 11/06/2016 15:28

The vast majority of crime by men is against other men though (or shops, or cars) not women

Even if that were true, that's still how risk works. Most crime is committed by men. Therefore, men present the bigger risk.

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2016 15:28

So is the consensus of this thread, with the exception of a few misandrist feminists, that men and women are equally likely to commit sexual assault, sexual harassment and violent crime?

You are very keen to keep saying this.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 11/06/2016 15:31

Then multiplied by the huge amount of assaults that are never officially reported?

So what you are saying is your own take on statistics is pretty usless in this argument?

As you agree it's not a reflection of real life in anyway.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 11/06/2016 15:31

I thought this thread was about women who worry about their sons being misogynistic feminist haters?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 11/06/2016 15:33

Urgh that read wrong! Not that the sons are misogynistic, but that the women are!

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2016 15:33

"You are very keen to keep saying this."

I just want to be clear. Is it what people think? Because that's what they seem to be saying....

OP posts:
GraysAnalogy · 11/06/2016 15:33

No bert. Because that's obviously not true.

I think that issue is that there's a misrepresentation - partly due to statistics- of the risk women pose too.

Just because they are less likely to, doesn't mean people's worries are unfounded. That's just the bottom line. And I would argue it isnt the risk thats the issue anyway, it's societal attitudes towards female on male crime that concern me more. I think that's more the crux of the matter.

TheStoic · 11/06/2016 15:34

So what you are saying is your own take on statistics is pretty usless in this argument?

The stats we have are pretty clear. Or you don't agree? You think it's more 50/50 when it comes to physical crime?

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2016 15:34

Milk- could you respond to my post of 15.28 please?

OP posts:
derxa · 11/06/2016 15:36

I'm trying to figure out why males being perpetrators of crime would mean we can't be worried for our sons Yes that's what I'm thinking and at the moment I'm very worried for my sons for many different reasons but the thought that they could be violent rapists is not one of them.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 11/06/2016 15:36

Or you don't agree? You think it's more 50/50 when it comes to physical crime?

No I made my point on statistics very clear and it's nothing like this.
One crime doesn't = one person. It doesn't take into account serial or repeat offenders.
Then you said yourself many crimes aren't reported.
So the statistics are usless.

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2016 15:36

"No bert. Because that's obviously not true."
But you said your teenage child would be equally safe or unsafe alone in a train compartment with a man or a woman. I don't think you can think both things, can you?

OP posts:
bumbleymummy · 11/06/2016 15:37

Grays I asked something similar earlier. I'm not sure where Bert is trying to go with this tangent.
