to think that this is not right

I was in my local supermarket today and encountered a woman who was dressed in pj's and a dirty old dressing gown, this was at 2pm by the way. Am I being unreasonable to think that this is not right?
It's not the first time I have seen this, sometimes it's those god awful onesies! It seems to be quite a common occurrence at our local morrisons. Now I'm no snob but what the hell is wrong with these women, how can they think that wearing your nightclothes in the afternoon and doing a full shop is acceptable. There is a lady who lives on my road and no matter what the time of day she wears a dirty old dressingown, even to collect her children from school. I don't understand people that don't take pride in their appearance, if I dressed like that my children would be mortified. Surely I'm not alone in thinking this??

Imagination is a powerfu thing

IrisPrima · 03/06/2016 15:51

Yes someone who is happy to wear pjs all day is probably happy to have unwashed hair and a dirty house too.

It is not the sign of someone who is living a dynamic and fulfilling life. Exactly that.

But...why...do...you...care?

IrisPrima · 03/06/2016 15:53

Who says anyone cares? You can have an opinion without caring. Some people smoke 60 a day - I think it's gross but I can't say I care as such.

PortiaCastis · 03/06/2016 15:53

Supposition is also powerful

MrsJayy · 03/06/2016 15:56

I dont care if they wear pjs and ugg boots just a gripe i have there is no real need to go outside in bedclothes but they can wear what they like

PreciousVagine · 03/06/2016 15:56

I'm curious as to why any of you care enough about these random strangers to have opinions on what their lives (and homes and hair and goals in life etc etc) must be like based on their pyjamas. Does it matter if they have a scruffy house or are lazy? They're just living life how they want.

IrisPrima · 03/06/2016 15:58

I don't think anyone actually wants to live like that.

And as I said, I don't really care. I can post about something without caring.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 03/06/2016 15:59

I thought I posted this earlier but I think I must not have hit post.

I'm sat here now wearing a huge onsie, I didn't sleep in it, I'm not lazy, I lead a very productive life, nobody would ever describe me as poor or lacking, I'm not even at home at the moment.

Nobody gives a shit, I don't give a shit and I have nothing to prove to anybody who thinks that me shoving on a frock makes any difference at all

AdjustableWench · 03/06/2016 16:01

It's about imagining slovenly lazy how clean is your house types crawling out of their sweaty dirty pit and tumbling out the door to do the school run or buy fags

Interesting. So the problem is mainly in people's imaginations?
I've never seen inside the house of someone who wears pyjamas outdoors, but then it's not really my business how they choose to live.

PortiaCastis · 03/06/2016 16:02

As I said imagination is a powerful thing

It is not NORMAL for everyone to shower and get ready for the day!!!!!!!!!!! It possibly took every bit of strength she had to simply go to do the shopping let alone think about dressing to do so...I am one of these said people that live in their pjs...yes I shower every day with assistance...dressing is too exhausting and also very painful...I then spend my day in bed...MENTAL HEALTH problems is a cruel, lonely and scary existence on a daily basis...so please, in future think about what you are posting before doing so...maybe if you offer to help next time you see her..support her around the store instead of judging her...I am sure you are far from perfect...SHAME ON YOU!

PortiaCastis · 03/06/2016 16:07

Well said forever and aways Hope you are ok

I think we all have gripes even if they are irrational about something i think indifference is a bit meh being a grumpy arse about something is normal Pjs outside is mine if that makes me a snob then im a snob

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/06/2016 16:24

Poverty and unemployment lead to hopelessness and depression and low self esteem.

These things can make it incredibly hard to get up in the morning.
If you live in a shitty area what is the point of trying to keep it nice when someone will just shit on it again.
Having a shower can be an insurmountable challenge.

Pyjamas you have slept in are not dirty unless you are incontinent

Some of you are incredibly just and really do not have a clue.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/06/2016 16:25

Just = judgy

MrsJayy · 03/06/2016 16:32

Well actually I do have a fucking clue what its like for all you said

EttaJ · 03/06/2016 16:32

Kitsa you're an absolute delight. Stay classy.

FrancisdeSales · 03/06/2016 16:34

I'm in the US and lounge wear is not PJ'S it's comfy clothes that you can go to the supermarket in. It will be plain grey and black not stripy, flowery and no dressing gowns!! You can answer the door without looking like you just staggered out of bed.

Basically if people recognize what you're wearing as nightwear you need to change it up!

Nah I used to be a social worker. I am just imagining the same scene i saw play out daily.

FrancisdeSales · 03/06/2016 16:40

It's very true that severe mental health struggles can prevent basic self care. So PJ'S out and about will usually signal, I have serious mental health problems or I really don't give a toss.

I think it is sad and if someone believes leaving their house in their PJ'S is their norm it could be a reason to seek help of some kind.

Buckinbronco · 03/06/2016 16:41

Foreverandalways:
"It is not NORMAL for everyone to shower and get ready for the day!!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't understand what you mean by this, is it a typo? Of course it's normal to get dressed everyday. Not everyone does it, but it is normal
