To think Brooklyn Beckham should be at school

fj3568 · 19/05/2016 23:17

He's 17 - why is he gadding around LA with an actress when he should be in school. Isn't it compulsory for kids in the UK to be in education until they are 18 and is it not a civil offence to take your kids out of school ( to gad around LA) during term time. Shouldn't he be doing AS exams like my 17 year old

Does anyone buy magazines anymore? I like a daily look at the DMonline, shoot me! I always see articles on the Kardashian and Beckham families, placed there by their management.

squoosh · 20/05/2016 10:44

Band Beckham are really trying their best to push him as a celeb in his own right.

squoosh · 20/05/2016 10:45

'Brand'

cupidsgame · 20/05/2016 10:48

Not necessarily leaking the photos and paying but they've certainly made sure their lives have always been in the spotlight. "Brand Beckham" has always been about the whole family. I just hope we never hear them calling "press intrusion" if their kids ever complain of being hounded by the press. Entirely themselves to blame. Unfortunately for them it's a price they might have to pay.

I think he'll probably use what he can while he can. I'm thinking more youth/wealth/connections rather than good looks. If I were in his shoes, I'd take some time out now and study later.
Not sure where they are based now and I don't care enough to google but I'm pretty sure it is the UK media that plumps up the Beckham family to be more newsworthy than they actually are. They don't make that much of a splash in LA, not even VB and her clothing line.
However Brooklyn could be dating an actress and well, that's always 'news' Hmm

howtorebuild · 20/05/2016 10:56

I don't believe that they are dating. I am sure it's a publicly deal.

fj3568 · 20/05/2016 11:19

Or actresses!

To be honest, if I was that age again with multi Zillionaire parents Id be having a whale of a time. I'd get on a Virgin civilian space flight for a start.

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 11:23

I watch E news (not even ashamed) they love the Beckhams in L A it is fluff and nonsense though but they love them

Bwah!

Floisme · 20/05/2016 11:53

You should be 'in learning' until age 18 but it can take many forms and it doesn't have to be full time.

I'm off gallivanting now.

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 11:55

Ooo get you enjoy your galavant

Voteforpedr0 · 20/05/2016 11:58

The impression I get is that the Beckhams are doing a great job brining their kids up to be polite and respectful and if young Brooklyn is having fun in LA whats the big deal ? Gorgeous family, good humans and Life is for living no ?

originalmavis · 20/05/2016 11:58

Gavoroting? Is that a word?

squoosh · 20/05/2016 12:00

Maybe you're thinking of 'garroting' Mavis? Let's hope no one's gallivanting off to garrote someone!

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 12:02

I think you might mean Cavorting? Sounds a bit frisker than galavanting

originalmavis · 20/05/2016 12:13

Maybe I made it up. It's like gallavanting but friskier, and in a more frisky manner.

Just5minswithDacre · 20/05/2016 12:20

Dacre, I was accused of both gadding and gallivanting as a teenager! Thread reminds me of my mum

That's never good Hydro Grin

I watch E news (not even ashamed) they love the Beckhams in L A it is fluff and nonsense though but they love them

Why? I mean, why specifically? Do they do much over there?

YoureSoSlyButSoAmI · 20/05/2016 12:21

TreacleSoda I expect he's passed levels 1-3 by now.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's up to even more advanced things like

Leaning on a gate
Pointing at something
Checking his watch

By now.

KayTee87 · 20/05/2016 12:22

I don't know about the rest of the U.K. but in Scotland a lot of people leave school at 16.

ghostyslovesheep · 20/05/2016 12:27

There is no legal obligation to remain in education past 16 - young people should remain in some form of education but no one enforces it ! Lots don't

Floisme · 20/05/2016 12:36

This link explains it. Even in England, 'education' is interpreted very broadly although there are probably some schools who are very happy for parents to think it only means sixth form. Part time study while you work is ok. And no there aren't any staying- in-education police as yet.
www.gov.uk/know-when-you-can-leave-school

I'm really going now - gallivanting only, no cavorting.

Vaara · 20/05/2016 12:40

He's probably on half term. We've got half term next week.

Oh to be 17 again! Passed my driving test, parents bought me a car.... I was off! Gadding and gallivanting a go go!

We only went to school for the bits we definitely couldn't get away with missing. The rest of the time we'd be holed up in a cafe drinking tea, or shopping, or sunbathing..... We went to Henley Regatta and got drunk for four days straight.

Happy times Smile

CheerfulYank · 20/05/2016 12:48

I'm pretty sure they're actually dating. CGM doesn't seem the type to do the whole fake relationship thing.

jay55 · 20/05/2016 12:54

He's essentially working in the family business.
