To think Brooklyn Beckham should be at school

He's 17 - why is he gadding around LA with an actress when he should be in school. Isn't it compulsory for kids in the UK to be in education until they are 18 and is it not a civil offence to take your kids out of school ( to gad around LA) during term time. Shouldn't he be doing AS exams like my 17 year old

I would worry that he's in danger of being labelled a rich celebrity playboy and used as gossip fodder for the media, famous for nothing much just having rich and famous parents. Just seems a bit sad really.

AppleSetsSail · 20/05/2016 09:24

If I were to find fault with anything here, it's that I resent this bog-standard average-looking teenage boy being foisted upon the public as a model, as though we're all too stupid to work out that it's because he's a Beckham.

Other than that, I don't care - he's presumably left a gap in the oversubscribed London sixth-forms for another more worthy candidate.

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 09:27

I m sure Brooklyn Beckham will be fine they dont live in the uk full time 17yr olds can leave school and isnt he a model or something im sure Galivanting about LA is much more fun anyway loads of teenagers Gadd about LA on a school night Grin

AttilaTheMeerkat · 20/05/2016 09:28

Photography/modelling Attila.

Hmm. Those were opportunities given to him simply because of who he is and not through his own efforts or merit. He has not seemingly stuck at either. He does strike me as being pretty much aimless in life and I think he has too many "yes" people around him as well.

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 09:30

Victoria and David both left school at 16 apparently they did not to bad without anA level

giantpurplepeopleeater · 20/05/2016 09:31

Have you never heard of flexible/ home schooling???

He is doing his A Levels. And sounds very level headed www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2015090427086/brooklyn-beckham-talks-career-plans/

Judgemental much?

AppleSetsSail · 20/05/2016 09:32

Which makes him no different than any other celebrity offspring.

If I worked in an industry even remotely attractive to/impinged upon by celebrity offspring, I'd probably care a lot more. Fortunately, we have very few Geldofs or Bransons or Beckhams trying to break into the IT world. Wink

howtorebuild · 20/05/2016 09:32

Maybe he is feeling low self-esteem due to not being a pro footballer, he had every chance there, it must sting.

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 09:38

What is that about low self esteem because he isnt a footballer what Confused I love this weird obsession people have with the Beckhams im meh about them but they seem sensible parents so what a 17yrold was out side

LagunaBubbles · 20/05/2016 09:40

In the UK young people have to be in education or training until they are 18

Scotland is still part of the UK and this isnt true here.

AppleSetsSail · 20/05/2016 09:41

Giant you are overly invested.

LaurieMarlow · 20/05/2016 09:53

He has not seemingly stuck at either

He's SEVENTEEN Hmm

I don't think he's had an opportunity to 'stick' at anything yet. He's too young.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 20/05/2016 10:01

Is it "let's be jealous of celebrities and their offspring because they have more money than me" week?

I must have missed the memo.

Don't forget to pop by the 3 bazillion threads whining about how much money Elton and David have now!

The Beckham children have always seemed extremely grounded, as have D and V themselves. I can't see any of their kids doing a Peaches any time soon.

WallisSimpson11 · 20/05/2016 10:10

It's nobody's business. Why do people have to mind about other peoples' children? Shock Confused

howtorebuild · 20/05/2016 10:14

I don't think anyone would give him a second thought if his parents were not buying articles about him in the DM.

howtorebuild · 20/05/2016 10:15

Or selling articles to Ok, tweeting about him or posting pictures of him on social media.

NickiFury · 20/05/2016 10:18

This thread is making me laugh. All this surmising and doom filled predictions of his future all from a few papped photos. Maybe he doesn't want to be a footballer? maybe he actually has a creative streak and luckily has the support to pursue that and parents that value it? There's been a post from someone who knows his teacher which has been entirely ignored. Maybe he wasn't doing well at school and decided with parental support to take some time off being doing something else?

Whatever, I think BB will be ok.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 20/05/2016 10:19

Yeah cos no MN ever scatterguns social media with photos of their own kids.

Envy is so unattractive.

cupidsgame · 20/05/2016 10:23

The difference being, they get payed massive money for it.
Not the same.

cupidsgame · 20/05/2016 10:29

I thought we avoided this kinds of threads on MN. It's nobody's business but theirs.
I agree. What a shame his parents don't.

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 10:29

If we were all honest and could give our ownkids the punt up the beckhams do we would be doing it lets face it V &D are not wallflowers they love being celebs but seem decent parents i cant get het up about a 17yrold he is out and about being 17

NickiFury · 20/05/2016 10:34

Do you honestly think that the Beckham's are leaking photos of Brooklyn in order to be "payed" for it cupid. The only people doing the paying are those who buy the photos off the Paps and then in turn the public who buy the magazines.

Wdigin2this · 20/05/2016 10:35

I love the word 'gallivanting'! My grandmother accused me of this if I were 10 seconds late home from school....so I always thought it meant walking slowly with your mates, ogling school boys!

MrsJayy · 20/05/2016 10:40

Gallavanting is a great word it sounds like you are having a great time
