My drunken bum of a husband has fallen asleep in the back of the car...I have left him there...AIBU?

I tried three times to stir him to get him indoors but to no avail....I had real children to put to bed. Hmm

I have also locked the front door 'cos I don't want to risk being burgled -be woken up in the night-

Can't he get done for drink driving for that? I'd leave him there, unless it was a real possibility that happening could mean that you face real hardship as a result, eg via job loss. I'd probably be thinking about kicking him out anyway. But if you need maintenance etc?

No, really mean to leave him in the car, set the alarm off, that will wake him.

It'll also wake up her kids and the rest of the street and mean she has an audience for something embarrassing. Not a good idea!

If he vomits, he cleans it.

Technically he could be considered to be drunk in charge of a motor vehicle. I would leave him there but remove the car keys so he can't drive it or be considered to be intending to drive it.

If he has keys, he WILL if discovered be considered drunk in charge of a vehicle. Which is the same penalties as drink driving.

Can be DUI if possible to drive the vehicle, if no keys or stupid card thing possible to start the vehicle then no. princess is right.

Yeah, if a police officer doesn't have an ounce of common sense. Presumably the husband doesn't have the keys since he's passed out in the backseat. No passing police officer would stop and rouse someone in the backseat, just to check their blood alcohol level. It just wouldn't happen.

Pop a blanket on him and leave the front door unlocked.

Why would you lock him out and how many times have burglars actually entered your house through your front door?

Just a rough estimate will do...

I would take the car keys, put a duvet and pillow in the car, leave a bottle of water, and go to bed.
You can't be accused of not providing! And given that you couldn't have lifted him, what else could you do?
Sounds like a bit of a tosser though.
