Babies in travel systems

Excusemeforpostinghere · 11/05/2016 08:03

Am I bu that I just get the rage when I see babies in carseats clunked to the pram?

Am I being a judgypants?

Fair enough on the nip in & out jobs like school run.

But supermarket? Theme park? National trust gardens? Running? Town? Zoo? Places were the child is likely going to have been in that carseat for a few hours!

They've already been in it for the car journey. I bet likely, some will only be out of them all day for feeding time.

I watched holiday supersavers last night and the baby did the walk to supermarket, around supermarket and walk nack home again in the flippin carseat!

I just want to go up to them and tell them to stop being lazy and think of their child's spine development.

i included that like about the mamas and papas as an example of how shady argos are the truth behind those seats is that they "killed" a crash test dummy by throwing it from the seat and its not made by mamas and papas argos paid M&P for use of its brand if you go into an M&P store they have no knowledge of the seat or any sales of them

glueandstick · 12/05/2016 20:49

Oh Jesus Christ.

Buckinbronco · 12/05/2016 20:50

No one can be that into car seats surely? When they don't even have a child too!

LilySnape · 12/05/2016 20:50

yes they do actually car seats also have expiry dates and yes for someone who doesn't have kids yet its shocking i know more about babies and car seats than you "parents" isn't that nice for you

FutureGadgetsLab · 12/05/2016 20:51

What's your stake in car seats? Do you get paid by expensive car seat companies to flog their products?

Did you know legally you can ride in a taxi without a seat? Shock

glueandstick · 12/05/2016 20:52

If you're that invested in a car seat you'll have a breakdown with the sheer amount of research you'll have to do on everything else.

FutureGadgetsLab · 12/05/2016 20:53

By the way, an expiration of a car seat just means it's no longer legally guaranteed to be as safe as the company claims.

It doesn't burst into flames suddenly and vanish in a puff of smoke.

NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 20:59

Hah I own two of the "shitty" car seats.

Aren't I terrible mum ey

Buckinbronco · 12/05/2016 21:00

"Today 20:52 glueandstick

I can't stop laughing at this! So true

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/05/2016 21:01

Can you please link to the law which states you must dispose of a car seat after use and must not resell.

LilySnape · 12/05/2016 21:01

I've also done my research on everything else too thanks Grin would you like a recommendation on a travel system based on your lifestyle or the pros and cons or BF or FF too ?

FutureGadgetsLab · 12/05/2016 21:02

No thanks Lily, we're perfectly capable of doing our own. Smile

glueandstick · 12/05/2016 21:05

Lifestyle? Oh I love it:

Have your perfect baby and live your perfect life. I do hope it all goes utterly smoothly and not a blade of grass is out of place.

Ps. Conception, pregnancy, birth and parenting do not follow strict rules. It will not happen as the book says it will. The baby (and nature) has not read the book.

NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 21:08

No amount of research will mean things will go to plan.

Did you know babies can't read?

Just because you want them to be ERF till age 5 doesn't mean they will. Your child might be too tall or they just point blank refuse.

You may want to breast feed but doesn't mean your baby will latch properly.

Your "perfect" pushchair might actually be hated by your child or even hated by you once you have the weight of your baby in it

Strokethefurrywall · 12/05/2016 21:08

Ahhh LilySnape bless

Hush now, you're just making yourself look daft.

FutureGadgetsLab · 12/05/2016 21:10

I had a baby that refused to sleep on his back and wouldn't latch.

Guess I should have told him to read about breastfeeding and SIDS.

Buckinbronco · 12/05/2016 21:11

It doesn't really seem like you've understood your research though lily.....

NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 21:15

Did you have my baby future?

He would sleep on his back either. Had to lay on his tummy. Don't think I slept properly until he learned to roll over.

Now at 14 months, I lay him on his back and he immediately rolls on his side or on his tummy

NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 21:16

Wouldn't*

FutureGadgetsLab · 12/05/2016 21:19

NN mine could sort of roll from birth and if put him on his back but he'd roll over. I gave up trying to turn him because he'd always turn back!

NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 21:22

Ah not mine then. He just screeched if I put him on his back.

We had to raise the mattress and then lay him on his tummy with his head angling upwards.

Eventually even this didn't work. So he used to sleep in his swing.....for about 4 months. With the motion going and the white noise all night. Cost us a fortune in batteries but we were desperate.

It did actually turn out he was cmpa and had severe silent reflux but at the time we were very frustrated

FutureGadgetsLab · 12/05/2016 21:24

Mine has CMPA and reflux, but it was the vomiting kind. I have encyclopaedias under his cot. Grin

glueandstick · 12/05/2016 21:26

I'm just off to wake my baby so she can be fed according to the formula leaflet.

Like hell I am.

NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 21:27

I think I just used a rolled up towel under the Moses basket when he was small enough for it. He was only in it for about 8 weeks before he started sleeping in his swing instea

flowerpower10 · 12/05/2016 21:28
