Just askin'

And place marking for updates Grin

This thread can't end there, it's not an episode of Eastenders!

OP posts:
FlyingElbows · 11/05/2016 10:54

Well if nothing else Op is absolutely guaranteed that Mr & Mrs Grabby won't be chasing the adjustment any further. This has got to be the best shameless bastard outing ever! Grin

ScarlettSahara · 11/05/2016 10:55

Oh puzzled I felt indignant on your behalf re rude bride and groom. You were more than generous. Now I am worried about your post being outed on National TV. On the bright side maybe the bride and groom will see the weight of opinion against their toe-curlingly rude actions. 💐 for the OP

blindsider · 11/05/2016 10:59

The sad bit is it is only a matter of time until someone with computer expertise and considerable resources outs the lot of them.

Can you imagine the bride she must be thinking OMG and heading for the hills.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2016 11:02

I like at the Guardian was mature enough not to blank the "pissed" part of theOPs user name :o Unlike the Mail.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/05/2016 11:05

Maybe Puzzled might even get a lovely apology, bunch of flowers and returned cheque.....

I wouldn't count on it Wink

I confess I'm a bit surprised myself by all the media fuss; the B&G are hardly the only ungracious folk around so it seems a bit odd they've picked up on this - maybe it was a slack news day? No doubt they'll move on to the next non-story soon enough, but perhaps if it makes some small contribution to the conversation on the general grabbiness around weddings that's no bad thing?

In the meantime I doubt it will surprise anyone to know my personal Inbox is full of messages from friends and acquaintances - all of them thankfully saying versions of "you simply told the truth, what others make of it is up to them". Nevertheless I won't be sorry when it all moves on to something else ...

blindsider · 11/05/2016 11:07

Yup Puzzled

as long as your report was an accurate description of events there is only one/two person/people who have done anything they need to regret or be ashamed about.

willitbe · 11/05/2016 11:10

Story now told on radio 4FM in Republic of Ireland....... It is spreading nicely.

Cancel the cheque! Certainly can't cancel the viral nature of the story now!

RuggerHug · 11/05/2016 11:12

Puzzled you didn't ask for it to be broadcast to the world so you def shouldn't be feeling bad. Am I the only waiting for B&G to go to the Fail anonymously to tell their fabricated side?

BeckyMcDonald · 11/05/2016 11:14

It's easy to dismiss this as a non-story but, given the number of media outlets that have run it and the number of comments and the discussion around it, it's clearly attracting lots and lots of web traffic. It is news, however unpalatable. Not every story can Pulitzer-winning or require months of research because there simply aren't enough journalists to do that stuff full-time and because enough people just aren't interested in that stuff to justify it

Newspapers have to attract high volumes of readers to be able to afford to do the good stuff. They are businesses, first and foremost.

This is an Irish radio station!!!

cherrybomme · 11/05/2016 11:16

Gosh! i followed the original thread an cannot believe how much this has snowballed. I do feel sorry for puzzled but at the same time this is an absolutely hilarious way of taking the bride to task.
i will be very careful what I post on here in future i think, sadly it might mean that more and more posters are going to have to tweak facts so that they can't be identified.
From past experience the fact tweaking and forgetting what you have tweaked can lead to accusations of trollery...

willitbe · 11/05/2016 11:17

Puzzled - glad to read that your real-life friends etc are also supporting you.

LocalEditorEssex · 11/05/2016 11:19

Has 'cancel the cheque' become a hashtag yet?

ElegantDream · 11/05/2016 11:21

OP

Just a reminder that if you've been properly outed in real life that your username is now easily searchable. If you have history that you don't want to be searched by people you know, now is the time to ask MN to delete your old posts.

echelon · 11/05/2016 11:24

Puzzled
Has the bride still not responded to your email??!
Astounding.

Oh and have you still not cancelled the cheque?

MrsHathaway · 11/05/2016 11:33

I like at the Guardian was mature enough not to blank the "pissed" part of theOPs user name grin Unlike the Mail.

I have the Guardian style guide, which points out (quite rightly) that starring out a swear word doesn't actually disguise what it was. You know that a f..king c..t is a fucking cunt with or without pained emendations.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 11/05/2016 11:43

I notice that the Guardian carefully omits to mention that the cheque had, in fact, already been cashed.

Lweji · 11/05/2016 11:43

For most people this is just a blip in the ocean and will forget it in 5 min.

It's us who are overly invested in it. Blush
And your friends, Puzzled.

MamOfTwo · 11/05/2016 11:43

Erm, did I just hear Philip & Holly introduce this thread as the next item on This Morning??

wheresthebeach · 11/05/2016 11:45

The bride, was of course, being awful. But nobody deserves this.
National condemnation. Awful.

RaeSkywalker · 11/05/2016 11:45

One of my friends has shared the Fail link on Facebook.

No word of a lie, her Mum has commented saying "they should definitely cancel the cheque!!"

😂😂😂

Monkeyinshoes · 11/05/2016 11:46

Yes MamOfTwo I think they talked about it earlier and now they're having a wedding etiquette phone in.

longesteverlurker · 11/05/2016 11:46

I just saw it was going to be on This Morning too!
