AIBU to as ask my SIL to drop my twins home?
My two have been at SIL overnight (really unusual occurrence) I arranged to pick them up at midday but when I called to say I was about to leave home she said her big sis was on her way with her two kids so I shouldn't come just yet.
I'm really grateful that she's had them overnight but I'm tired and it's getting dark is at terrible to ask her or other SIL to drop them home as I hate driving when it's getting dark

And it really wasn't getting dark at 5.03 when you initially posted.

Have you contacted her yet? You said you needed a quick reply but this has been over an hour.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 02/05/2016 18:10

You HAVE said you are tired, and you HAVE said its dark... its not dark, and I fail to see how you could be sooo tired in the very early eve after having no dc all day. (and not working by the sounds of it as you were going to set off at midday, and 2pm and waiting to do so now)

Ask your SIL, expect to be laughed at, but she may drop the dc back so can't hurt to ask. I suggest you leave out the dark/tired thing (as it makes you sound like a loon) and instead say she should "drop them off when shes ready but please remember they have school in the morning, thanks."

This all sounds a bit weird though tbh...

umizoomi · 02/05/2016 18:11

How long will it take you to drive there? Just go.

People aren't being nasty, they are pointing out it isn't dark, getting dark or anything else ANYWHERE in England.

The reason for this is that the sun provides light and until it sets it doesn't go dark. Sunset is another 2 hours from now. Crazy I know but true Hmm

It's cloudy here (Yorkshire), pretty grey clouds to be honest but it's not dark. It's darker than it was a hour ago as it was bright sunshine, but that's because of shadow. If I were to go out in my car now, I wouldn't put my lights on and the streetlights aren't coming on (which they automatically do when it gets dark)

HTH.

Furiosa · 02/05/2016 18:11

It doesn't get dark according to post codes Confused

That's not how the earth and the sun work.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 02/05/2016 18:12

cross post!

AdrenalineFudge · 02/05/2016 18:13

OP, it might be worth checking if you are wearing sunglasses

Grin
Pipbin · 02/05/2016 18:13

It's def getting dark in NW4 but whatever

No, you can't pull a 'whatever' over a fact like it not getting dark. It's like arguing over the day of the week. Sometimes arguments like this come up and it turns out the OP is in the top of Scotland, but there are enough posters here close enough to you to be able to categorically state that it isn't getting dark. If you don't like driving when it is slightly overcast OP I question if you should be on the road at all.

Ghanagirl · 02/05/2016 18:16

Daily mail dick? Okay living up to your name
As I said it's getting dark here never said it was "pitch black"...
But issue resolved as SIL is dropping kids at 8pm
Obviously she's realised that she has been bit unreasonable!

PerspicaciaTick · 02/05/2016 18:17

That's good news - the DCs will be home before sunset!

Lweji · 02/05/2016 18:17

Maybe she's on the thread. Telling you it's not dark.

WineOrSleep · 02/05/2016 18:17

Your SIL has your kids overnight and then volunteers to drive them back to yours and she's being unreasonable?!

Confused
curren · 02/05/2016 18:19

Only nw4 is getting dark? Really? But the rest of the U.K. It isn't?

That made me laugh.

Lweji · 02/05/2016 18:21

I've lol twice in this thread and I'm on public transport. Hmm

Having said that, ywnbu if you were travelling east or west and didn't want the sun on your eyes while driving. It's a bitch.

ViewingEnded · 02/05/2016 18:22

I think ,aye you're a little confused over the meaning of the word dark Hmm

gingergenie · 02/05/2016 18:22

What a strange post!!

ViewingEnded · 02/05/2016 18:22

Maybe*

Pipbin · 02/05/2016 18:23

That's good news - the DCs will be home before sunset!

The way things are going it will be sunrise in the parallel universe of NW4 by 8pm.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 02/05/2016 18:24

Fucking postcode lottery is even affecting the time of the sunset

Fucking Tories

ScoutsMam · 02/05/2016 18:24

Obviously she's realised that she has been bit unreasonable!

I'm going to go on a limb here and say I bet she's the most reasonable person in the world and makes Mother Teresa look like Mariah Carey.

AyeAmarok · 02/05/2016 18:27

Hilarious.

In "Opposite Land" dark = daylight, tired = not tired, and a very kind SIL is unreasonable.

You sound like really hard work OP. Learn to chill a bit. There's hours of daylight left today.

horizontilting · 02/05/2016 18:27

"Is this a test, I know some people on AIBU will argue night is day, but this is a bit literal"

Love this theory. MNHQ are sending in rogue posters to test our mettle/how far AIBU has gone (past the point of no return...)

The they sit back, break out the gin and enjoy themselves. Probably someone's revenge for having to work the bank holiday.

MillionToOneChances · 02/05/2016 18:27

Perhaps there is a localised eclipse or perhaps someone is having a huge bonfire.

Grin Still plenty of light here, in spite of heavy clouds.

ThatIsNachoCheese · 02/05/2016 18:28

Sorry op, but it really isn't dark. And you did say you were tired. This is an extremely odd thread!

Ghanagirl · 02/05/2016 18:28

As I said worried it was going to get dark...
What's the use this is obviously some kind of "fight club" and I'm not going to ask for thread to be deleted but will def be more open minded when mums with newborns come for postnatal examination and complain that they have very little support!
For the poster that said I obviously don't work it's BH Monday and although I occasionally work Bank Holidays and weekends I'm rotated off this weekend...

Give the woman a break!! The real issue is that she is worried about upsetting SIL and being seen as too nervy. Sometimes we all get a little nervy (and feel it's darker than it is!), when we're under pressure.
