I want some new jeans, I'm plus size, all I can find are skinny jeans destined to make my legs look like two turkey drum sticks. Why retailers? Why?!

Do you have Lane Bryant or The Avenue there? They both sell various styles of jeans. I am plus-sized, and I don't wear skinny jeans.

I was in mothercare looking at maternity jeans the other day and it was snowing. All they had were skinny jeans and tiny tiny shorts. I would not normally wear either but if there is ever a time in a women's life when she is least likely to wear them it would be when they are pregnant.

I feel your pain.

I like skinny jeans and I'm a plus size girl. I don't like looser legs because I wear long boots pretty much all the time. Next jeans are lovely but I find they're just way too big in the waist. I think good fitting jeans are the holy grail for us well upholstered ladies.

Next jeans and jeggings are brilliant. They're the only brand that fit my weird proportions

Jeggings from Sainsburys are fab? and cheap, there will probably be another 25% off soon.

I loved the flares and the bootcut styles of the late Nineties myself. They were very forgiving, and at a size 16 + pregnant I could do with this :)

Elle Try M&S (I know I know) BUT their per una range has good selection of 'normal' styled jeans and boot cuts if you prefer them. Honest Grin

I don't like skinny jeans either - my thighs are far too fat to look good in them - same for leggings. I love my bootcut jeans but so difficult to get a good fit - the waists seem to be huge.

Harem/ 'Aladdin' pants look good on every size. Loads on ebay or any of those hippy bongy ethno shops that sell incense and windchimes.

I always have to take my sewing machine to new jeans, usually to raise the crotch otherwise I'm pulling them up over my boobs, and slim down the thighs on bootcuts so they don't look like clown pants! It seems to be impossible for plus-size clothing actually to fit anyone. I now hate shopping for new clothes and dread the ones that fit wearing out.

Skinny jean, leggings, jeggings = awful on me (plus size also).

I really don't get why people say, 'hate skinny jeans? Try leggings/jeggings!' They are exactly the same bloody thing just different fabrics!

All of them look awful on me, my massive thighs, muffin top and chunky calves are all horrendously exposed in anything skin tight. Much prefer the much more forgiving flares and bootcuts but it's getting increasingly difficult to find them, apparently every woman who buys clothes only wants to wear every colour and variety of skinny jeans Sad

They do straight leg and bootcut in Sainsbury's.

I buy the jeggings in Sains, but buy them slightly larger, so they're not skin tight. They look just like regular jeans and are very comfortable.

I hear ya OP.

It's a fucking nightmare. I'm plus size. I've recently lost weight and dropped from a size 28 to a size 24 (world's crappest stealth boast Grin). I want new jeans, in a boot cut or wide leg. Can i find them? Can I fuck. Skinny jeans DO NOT SUIT those of us pear shaped plus size ladies. I look ridiculous in them. I just want boot cut god damn it! And screw you Evans with your pear shape cut which fits me perfectly but which is never in stock ever!

I hate skinny jeans too. I'm pear shape, only a size 10-12 but they still look awful on me. They actually make me look bigger than I am. They just cling to all the imperfections. A straight jean elongates the leg and doesn't make me look chunkier.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't seen anyone in real life who is not tall and is over a size 6 who actually looks good in skinny jeans or leggings. They're fine if you're wearing them for comfort only. But that's just my opinion, I know that leggings and skinny jeans are a favourite among MNers.

And don't get me started on harem trousers. Besides looking like you're wearing a diaper, it also makes your ass look 3 times the size even if you're skinny. Stick to the classics I say.

There is a larger size store called Yours close to me, I think they have a website you can order from. They have a variety of jeans and their bootcut ones are very nice and flattering. They do clothes in 14-32 and they are all affordable and nice.

I don't work for them but I do spend a lot in there!

Thank you everyone for some great suggestions. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with a hatered of skinny jeans!

Ebay. I have resorted to setting up notifications on eBay for wide-legged jeans in brands I know fit me - so far I have picked up two pairs, one new with tags and the other lightly used, for less than forty quid. I thought skinnies were supposed to be on the way out but they're still everywhere and I look godawful in them.
