I want some new jeans, I'm plus size, all I can find are skinny jeans destined to make my legs look like two turkey drum sticks. Why retailers? Why?!

I would just love it if retailers would understand that not all of us are the same size/shape and suit difference things, then produce a variety of stuff rather than just having 10,000 versions of skinnies/jeggings/leggings in all colours of the rainbow but only dark blue or black bootcuts Sad

Some of us like the colours and patterns of the skinnies just can't wear the shape!

I really don't get why people say, 'hate skinny jeans? Try leggings/jeggings!' They are exactly the same bloody thing just different fabrics!

Grin Exactly what I was thinking!

I just bought some 'girlfriend' jeans in Sainsburys which I love, they're nice and stretchy and fitted without being skinny.

I'll probably be burned alive but I like bootcut and they suit my shape. So there!

I tried on some Harem pants - I would not wear those, even for a bet. I did not think anything could look worse than skinny jeans on me but the Harem trousers definitely did! I am size 12 and love bootcut trousers.Grin

Depends on how plus size you are, but Asda do some fab bootcut jeans up to (definitely) a 22 (and possibly a 26). They're about £10 per pair and wash really nicely.

I'm a generously arsed size 16 (now with added post emcs overhang, go me Hmm) and I like straight dark wash jeans. if you are a pear or hourglass they look 'skinny' enough to wear with nice shoes for a night out, they're narrow enough to tuck into boots, and they're forgiving and a bit more laid back than true skinnies. sainsburys do nice ones, as do M&co.

i don't think I've ever met a woman who finds jeans buying easy, regardless of shape or size. it's a minefield!

I bought some lovely jeans in Next a couple of weeks ago after getting sick of jeggings. They are called 'cigarette fit'

www.next.co.uk/g97322s11#960003

They're a relaxed fit / straight leg and are the best jeans i have owned. They're also quite generous around the waist and the advice from people who have already bought them is to buy a size smaller. I went back a couple of days later to get another pair, I liked them so much, but they didn't have my size in. I must go and try again (or order online)

englishgirl I've got some girlfriend jeans from Sainsburys (white!) and they're fab. Just the right shape of leg and waist.

I am small size yet hate skinny jeans with a passion....
Look like been squeezed in a sausage skin [quite short too which maybe part of problem...].

Another vote for the cigarette jeans. I bought some on a whim, wore them on Saturday and several people asked me how I'd managed to lose so much weight recently. Have just ordered 2 more pairs!

I can also recommend the girlfriend jeans in Sainsbury's. Lovely, easy fit and plenty of stretch.

All but 2 pairs of my jeans are from Sainsburys - great fit, reasonable price, lots of fits and no skinny in my wardrobes!

I also have a per una pair and some from george - not the best but not bad and also not skinny.

Am with you on the skinny plus size thing. It was all I could find in mat gear last pregnancy, skinny, plus size and under bump seemed to be the norm - all things I wasn't looking for!

araiba bit of a cunty remark dear. If you haven't got anything helpful to contribute to the discussion then move on.

I like the M&S straight leg jeans from the Collection range. £18. They go up to size 28

For those that bought the cigarette jeans from Next did you get the normal ones or the relaxed ones? Also, did you go down a size?

Report
Thefitfatty · 26/04/2016 11:15

I buy the skinny ones about 2 or 3 sizes too big and roll them up on the bottoms so they look more like boyfriend jeans.

I really can't wait for this skinny jeans fad to go away.

Op have you tried Yours? I've linked to some boot cut jeans and trousers for you. I used to be a size 32 and am now 24/26. Yours never lets me down. Also personally I used to wear boot cut exclusively but tried a skinny pair of jeggings when I lost weight. I think they look good on me. Mind you I also wear Uggs which is frowned upon by some mners so what do I know? :o

Skinny jeans and jeggings are NOT the same. I once ripped off a false nail trying to wriggle into a pair of skinny jeans. Had it not been for the rips on the knees I wouldn't have anything to grip onto pulling those torture kecks off. Jeggings just glide up my hide.

I'm 5'11" and a size 19 (bigger than 18 but not quite a 20)

Matalan jeans are great and wash well.

I do own a pair of black Skinny Jeans but they just look like leggings so not quite sure why I bothered buying them.
