I don't get it either OP. I'd never even heard of it until about 3 years ago, yet now it seems to have been some sort of cult classic. My 41yr old husband thinks it's fantastic. I don't even know who it's aimed at? Is it a kids' film? A girly film? How come my husband likes something called the princess bride? He's only interested in sport or Star Wars. Confused I feel very much like the odd one out. Glad to have met you, OP! Grin

I first saw it when I was 18. Last watched it about a week ago. It's very, very silly but also clever. I love it, or rather wuv it, but humour is a personal thing.

Yeah apparently they were neighbours and Andre's dad helped him build his house so when he found out he couldn't get to school Beckett helped out.
There is a brilliant documentary about him that was on randomly a couple of Christmases ago called Larger than life. But you will cry if you watch it!

If you love Princess Bride... Watch Stardust (with the lovely Charlie Cox!)... It's just as lovely!!

Fillybuster · 23/04/2016 22:10

Yes, YABU Grin

I love it. And Labyrinth

Hate the Goonies. Ugh.

Don't see the point of Star Wars

ThePrincessButtercup · 23/04/2016 22:22

I loved Stardust too but The Princess Bride had better lines. Smile

I love that Princess Bride is so hammy and tongue in cheek. Billy Crystal is great in it.

A friend of mine's baby daughter looks exactly like Vizzini. I haven't told her! Grin

'There are few pairs of perfect breasts in this world...'

'To the death?'
'No! To the pain...'

I also love Stardust, think it is similar on tone/humour but it doesn't quite match TPB perfection

First time posting in "aibu", but I just couldn't read this and walk away. The princess bride is literally the perfect film. Yabu!

MintyChapstick - Artaaaaaaax!! Sad

I love the Princess Bride. I think to 'get it' you just have to appreciate that it's tongue is firmly in its cheek from start to finish!

I have a long standing joke with a friend that whenever the phrase "it's possible..." drops in to conversation, the other says "...pig" GrinUsually followed by "it's conceivable... you miserable vomitous mass!"

00100001 · 24/04/2016 08:45

I shall give it one more chance Grin
