I walked down the aisle to the theme from The Princess Bride. Blush

YABVU.

BuunyChops · 23/04/2016 19:45

Part of my job invokes discussing the meaning/ intent of reported words (this bit isn't important)

Every so often I or work pal say 'you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means…'

First one to snigger buys lunch. Same with 'this is small …that's far away'

I agree it's all to do with the age or the time in your life you saw it.

pointythings · 23/04/2016 19:50

You only nearly don't get it. You need a miracle worker.

blueberrypie0112 · 23/04/2016 19:56

"You only nearly don't get it. You need a miracle worker."

-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there's usually only one thing you can do. --Miracle Max

I'm going to spend the next 20 minutes cracking myself up with scenes I remember from the film.

(actually, I've been chatting to a guy from an OLD site that I'm meeting for a first date soon. One night at bedtime he messaged me to say "Good night, sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning." I LoL'ed and was smitten all at once.)

TheEagle · 23/04/2016 19:56

YABVU, Princess Bride is the business.

Romance, magic, giants, sea snakes, Peter Falk's narration - what's not to love?

MsBlandingsBuildsHerDreamHouse · 23/04/2016 19:57

It's from the film Blueberry.

WhoWants2Know · 23/04/2016 19:57

Blueberry-- "go through his pockets and look for loose change..."

blueberrypie0112 · 23/04/2016 19:58

Ahh, I miss that part

TimeToMuskUp · 23/04/2016 19:58

Inconceivable!

I watched it for the first time last year (aged 33 and 1/4) and loved it to the point of madness. I've watched it at least once a month since. The DCs love it too. They haven't had a choice.

Ludways · 23/04/2016 20:01

It's not funny! YANBU

KnappShappey · 23/04/2016 20:04

I think it's linked to early exposure, I watched The Princess Bride as a child and love it, DH didn't and doesn't see what the fuss is about.

He watched One of our dinosaurs is missing as a child and loves it but I don't think it's anything great...... the Goonies on the other hand.....!

Maraschino · 23/04/2016 20:04

Chronic lurker and first time poster but I've got to impart a Princess Bride fact I stumbled across the other day when I watched it with my nephew...

Inigo Montoya is played in the film by the actor who plays Sol in Homeland! Inconceivable! Shock

flingingmelon · 23/04/2016 20:07

I don't get it either. It's okay but not exactly a classic. Mate adores it and I can only manage a tight smile when it's nominated for best movie ever or whatnot.

I wonder; the people who think it's ace, have you seen it within the last year or so? Or are you looking back with nostalgia?

HelenaJustina · 23/04/2016 20:07

YABU

It is one of the pillars holding my family up... We all love it intensely.

'I'm not a witch, I'm your wife'

Expat your line makes me cry.

diddl · 23/04/2016 20:08

I'm with you OP.

I don't hate it, it's OK, but hilarious??

MsBlandingsBuildsHerDreamHouse · 23/04/2016 20:09

'Fraid so flinging - it's my I'm-feeling-crap-cheer-me-up film of choice.

BoneyBackJefferson · 23/04/2016 20:11

Nonsense. You’re only saying that because no one ever has.

You are clearly a big troll!

Everyone loves The Princess Bride.

nocoolnamesleft · 23/04/2016 20:20

YABVVVVVVVVVVVVVU. It is superb.

You'll put down your rock, and I'll put down my sword, and we'll settle this like civilised men?

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 23/04/2016 20:25

I love it, it brings me a warm fuzzy feeling when I watch it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 23/04/2016 20:27

'Don't ask me, I hated Titanic with Leanardo what's-is-face. Boring load of tripe.'

Oh yeah, because everyone loves Titanic!

PoreofWiner · 23/04/2016 20:29

This is timely. I got a kindle recently and read it believing it to be a classic. I thought it distinctly meh. You're saying I need to watch the film?

Sallystyle · 23/04/2016 20:30

It's amazing!

This is true love. You think this happens every day?

MitzyLeFrouf · 23/04/2016 20:31

The film definitely outshines the book.
