Cutlery argument - tell me who's right?

The order of cutlery in the cutlery drawer. Should it go

A. Forks, knives, spoons

or

B. Knives, Forks, Spoons

Things have come to a head today after months of us both stealthily swapping them to the correct way, depending on who's unloading the dishwasher. I said I'd ask Mumsnet and whatever you say will be the way in future (even if it is the wrong way).

I don't have a separator thing- they're just put in the drawer in a mixed bundle from the dishwasher. So much easier Wink

clam · 23/04/2016 13:46

I want my drawer to be Knives, forks, spoons, but the knives are too long for the left hand compartment, so it has to be the other way round.

It annoys me every day.

Orda1 · 23/04/2016 13:46

And I called knives, knifes. It's all going wrong.

BumWad · 23/04/2016 13:47

B

newmalden · 23/04/2016 13:47

I think it depends on the cutlery tray.

We have spoon, fork, knife but that's mostly because the slot on the right is longer so the knives fit better there...

FreedomMummy · 23/04/2016 13:48

We're spoon, fork, knife in this house but not sure I've ever consciously thought about it!
Out of your two options I would go A though.

IrregularCommentary · 23/04/2016 13:50

Spoon, fork, knife here. I could live with fork, knife, spoon though.

B is just so wrong. Fork in your left hand drive, knife in your right: why would you have them swapped round in the drawer? Madness.

TakeItFromMe · 23/04/2016 13:50

Ok it's going a bit more my way now. I'll run the stats later and tell DH he's wrong

Ours is spoons, forks, knives as it's the only way they'll fit into the tray thingy in the drawer. I find this thread weirdly fascinating Blush

idontlikealdi · 23/04/2016 13:51

B. Obviously.

Toooldtobearsed · 23/04/2016 13:51

You are all mad! It goes knives, forks, spoons!

I need to come and rearrange your drawers!

MoggieMaeEverso · 23/04/2016 13:52

Mine change all the time. If we use all the cutlery and the slots are empty, then the knives might go into what was previously the spoons slot. It doesn't bother me, as long as the cutlery is separated and nicely lined up :)

tibbawyrots · 23/04/2016 13:52

Knives forks spoons

RortyCrankle · 23/04/2016 13:54

Neither, I have no dividers in my cutlery drawer, they all get thrown in together. End of problem.

Cassimin · 23/04/2016 13:55

B
Really annoys me when oh changes them round. I like to just grab them without looking and when MY system gets changed I find myself going to butter the bread with a spoon.

AlwaysNC · 23/04/2016 13:55

Spoon, fork, knife.

trixymalixy · 23/04/2016 13:55

A is the only correct way as that's the way they are laid on the table.

QuinionsRainbow · 23/04/2016 13:56

Reading from L to R:

Long knives, carvers etc.: serrated knives: table spoons: soup spoons: dessert spoons: forks: knives

with tea-spoons behind

AlwaysNC · 23/04/2016 13:56

L to R obviously

yomellamoHelly · 23/04/2016 13:56

A for me. Dh and his family are B. We also play swapsies.

RubbleBubble00 · 23/04/2016 13:58

A

OliviaStabler · 23/04/2016 14:00

I do B!

Obs2016 · 23/04/2016 14:01

B

gingercat02 · 23/04/2016 14:03

B that's all!

Oldraver · 23/04/2016 14:06

From left to right...Knife, Fork Big Spoons, Little Spoons.

I once had a visitor who pulled me up over seperating cutlery in the dishwasher, which he couldn't fathom. I told him it doesn't really take any extra time and when you have finished you just pick up the whole of one section and put in drawer. He really would of stood there putting cutlery one by one in the drawer Grin
