...to not wear pantyliners often?

This just occurred to me (for absolutely no reason other than being bored in the loo)...do people actually wear them all the time? I only wear them for the tail-end of my period, and then go without until the next one. Is that normal, or am I gross?

OP posts:
WeAllHaveWings · 13/04/2016 18:51

I've started wearing them in the last year or so as I seem to being getting a bit moist down there of late. Likely to be hormonal.

I've found the body form long ones the best so far.

NinjaLeprechaun · 13/04/2016 18:56

Wow, Carson, you live in a different US than the one I live in. The only time you even hear the word douche around here is when it's being used as an insult. Douche-canoe seems to be a favourite in my house and I wouldn't know anybody (under the age of about 70) who's ever used them.
As for pantyliners, I don't even wear underwear most days... but that might just be me.

Lamu · 13/04/2016 18:59

How do you not wear pants with trousers? Confused don't you get a chafed foof?

AliMonkey · 13/04/2016 18:59

I wear them every day - Boots ultra-thin. Didn't used to but since having DC2 (nearly 9) I have had more discharge. Sometimes change them partway through the day. Like a pp, not wearing them so staying "moist" down there causes me more problems. Without them I would feel I had to change pants more than once a day.

Can't work out how a pp says they wear them even when no pants tights or trousers though - where would you stick them?

CarsonTheButler · 13/04/2016 18:59

I realise most women probably ignore the "fresh" fanjo products available here Ninja, but someone must be buying them if there's so many on sale. I think to some extent they are probably self-perpetuating too, if that's the correct word.

Lamu · 13/04/2016 19:03

No liners here. Can't bear the plasticy feeling in my knicks, that and I get thrush every time I've worn one.

BeALert · 13/04/2016 19:07

The US. My teenage DD has been in school here for about 5 months and even she is asking when she should start douching. Gynae health questionnaire asks how often you douche and even gives out free samples of all manner of horrendous smelling shite to keep you coming back there freshen up your fadge

Gosh really? I'm in the US - have been for nearly 10 years. No one's ever suggested that I should douche. My teenage DDs have never asked me about it either.

OP - I can't remember the last time I wore a pantyliner - maybe about 10 years ago?

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 13/04/2016 19:11

I've never worn a panty liner. Neither have I ever been to Nando's
Grin Same here on both counts

paxillin · 13/04/2016 19:12

They are so rubbery now they are all made with fancy materials. Waiting for them to go digital, can't be long now that all natural fibres have been removed.

DiscoMoo · 13/04/2016 19:15

I wear them probably 10-14 days a month, I get quite heavy discharge and it feels cleaner when I can just discard the liner. Plus damp cotton doesn't feel great against skin.

Badders123 · 13/04/2016 19:16

I wear them
Have to
Otherwise my pants get really dirty and smelly
But I use a brand called naty which are eco friendly and non latex
No idea why I get so much discharge but I do.

Badders123 · 13/04/2016 19:17

....I have, however, never been to nandos :)

Trills · 13/04/2016 19:23

I haven't worn one in years.

Then again I haven't had a period in years (depo injection) and I don't really get discharge either.

MrsArthurShappey · 13/04/2016 19:27

I wear them every day, the word moist really does not do my discharge justice! I ran out at the weekend and couldn't get any more until Monday. My pants and jeans were soaked by midday, I just wanted to cry. It is particularly bad at the moment though, but I could never really do without them.

It's one thing I would love to change about my body, I really hate it.

CarsonTheButler · 13/04/2016 19:27

BeAlert- perhaps I won't notice the wide array of saniatary and douching products when I've been here ten years too but it is one of the first things I did notice (OK, not 'one of the first', that's a bit dramatic, but you know what I mean) Gynae didn't suggest I douche, thankfully, but did give out wipes and little bottles of fanjo wash, the smell of which made my eyes water never mind anywhere else, when I paid the extortionate excess settled my account.

HoggleHoggle · 13/04/2016 19:28

I started wearing them when pg, got heavier discharge and kept weeing myself a bit towards the end.

Post birth I've been wearing them during my periods for the last few years as tampons now constantly leak for me so I need extra back up Angry

InanimateCarbonRod · 13/04/2016 19:28

All day every day. I'm sitting at a desk all day so find I feel much cleaner with them.

Flumplet · 13/04/2016 19:29

Me too alice I'm 33

dynevoran · 13/04/2016 19:30

Never wear pantyliners but often have a nandos Grin

limitedperiodonly · 13/04/2016 19:32

This is very profound and if was updated I bet she'd say she'd never been to Nando's

PhoenixReisling · 13/04/2016 19:35

Never use them.

the always infinity pads are not scented....but more expensive than there normal sanitary towels go figure

NinjaLeprechaun · 13/04/2016 19:35

"How do you not wear pants with trousers? Confused don't you get a chafed foof?"
I think you'd have to be wearing much tighter trousers than I do for that to happen. Grin

VestalVirgin · 13/04/2016 19:35

I didn't even know they existed until I asked a gynecologist for advice on how to keep my genitals healthy and she told me not to wear pantyliners all month. Apparently that's a thing many women do.

The only time you even hear the word douche around here is when it's being used as an insult.

It is a good insult. The product is not only useless but harmful.
I wonder why this stuff is legal, actually. It is well known to science that the vagina needs a flora of lactic acid bacteria to be healthy, and most douches completely destroy that natural bacterial flora.

Advertising this stuff as "hygienic" is about as honest as advertising sugary chewing gum as "tooth care product".

There's sugar-free chewing gum which is good for the teeth, and there are products for insertion into the vagina that can re-establish a healthy bacterial flora, but the distinction is much more clear with chewing gum than with "hygiene" products.

Natsku · 13/04/2016 19:38

Only wear them for the first few days of my period as I still can't seem to figure out my menstrual cup quite right so I get some leaks on those days. Otherwise I don't wear them as I hate the feel of them. And I went to nandos once, it was rubbish.

SqueegyBeckinheim · 13/04/2016 19:38

I wear them at the tail end of my period, if DH and I have had a morning shag and when I fly long haul so I can freshen up by changing the liner rather than carrying spare knickers.
