It encourages the worst sort of nasty, libellous speculation, creepy fan obsessing and vicious gossip mongering.

It is inhabited by the type of posters who would feel very comfortable on the Sidebar of Shame.

It is not in the spirit of the mumsnet site - celebrities are parents too and it is in no way a happy and supportive place.

AIBU to think that it is surplus to the requirements of Mumsnet and shouldn't be there?

Loving the Wendy Deng / Putin thread 😍

Empressa · 09/04/2016 08:56

Well I reported the Simon Cowell thread so let's see if that goes anytime soon...

OP posts:
Queenbean · 09/04/2016 08:57

The requirements of mumsenet would be either to support, or to inoffensively entertain, imvho.

This thread is neither supportive or entertaining so quite the own-goal in even starting it

SoupDragon · 09/04/2016 08:57

There are lots of topics I don't like.

So I hide them.

Job done.

HotPotatoOrchestraStalls · 09/04/2016 08:59

Ah well that's the thing,..the requirements of mn in your opinion.

The trouble with opinions are that they don't always tally.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 09/04/2016 09:01

You can't see what's wrong with saying that the people who read Sleb Twaddle deserve to be on the sidebar of shame and are 'that' kind of person?

Final note: You're a goady fucker.
Come on, I assume you're reasonably smart and can see what is wrong with saying that.

Empressa · 09/04/2016 09:01

Improving the site is supportive to all those who use it

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 09/04/2016 09:02

How do you define inoffensive though?

Empressa · 09/04/2016 09:02

paul you misunderstood me.

My point was that the sorts of comments I see in sleb twaddle are the sorts of comments which would be on Sidebar of Shame stories and therefore have no place on MN.

As in, spiteful and unpleasant.

Not that posters there belong as the subject of stories on the SoS

OP posts:
Empressa · 09/04/2016 09:03

I avoid SoS too, as should anyone with an ounce of empathy.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 09:05

Which threads in Sleb Twaddle are currently bothering you OP?

Empressa · 09/04/2016 09:06

It was the Simon Cowell one which sparked me off Smile

Speculating about a small boys paternity and call a woman a beard just seems not on

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 09/04/2016 09:08

Improving the site is supportive to all those who use it

How do you envisage this being an improvement to the site?

At the moment they are pretty much corralled in one topic. In your dream world they would be scattered cross The boards.

How, exactly, is that an improvement?

Yeahsure · 09/04/2016 09:08

Goady
Snobby
Judgemental
Lacking in imagination (not understanding that others have different interests to you)
Hypocritical (being wholly unpleasant about people you claim are wholly unpleasant)
Dishonest (to know about the content and vibe of Sidebar of Shame you have to, you know, read it yourself. I'm guessing you do!)

^that's you that is OP

curren · 09/04/2016 09:08

If you don't like it. Don't read it it.

Hide it. if it still comes up in active you can see its sleb twaddle. So don't click on it.

I have never looked or posted in there as I am completely uninterested in it. It's not hard.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 09/04/2016 09:09

You are way too invested OP - hide the board if you don't like it.

Even if it were removed, there are a million places on the internet discussing this kind of shite - are you trying to get them all removed or is it just Mumsnet?

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 09:11

So this is more about one thread in ST about Simon Cowell. Which you have already reported.

NickiFury · 09/04/2016 09:12

Personally I find the utter rabid cuntiness on AIBU far more upsetting and in need of dealing with than the witterings on Sleb Twaddle, it's quite funny in there at times, especially the Ronan Keating thread.

Motherwithflaws · 09/04/2016 09:12

I love ST and the SoS.
Are you Simon Cowell?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 09/04/2016 09:13

Yeahsure You just summed it up perfectly!

Look, I find a lot of stuff on MN irritating and even offensive but that's because the site wasn't set up specifically for me and my tastes - as an adult I accept that I have to suck it up.

Perhaps you could set your own 'supportive' site up and you could make as many 'improvements' as you like Smile

Yeahsure · 09/04/2016 09:13

I've never been on Sleb Twaddle but I'm going there right now! Everyone knows celebs are not real humans so you can say what you like. THAT IS A JOKE.

bakeoffcake · 09/04/2016 09:13

You sound pretty "spiteful and unpleasant" yourself OP!

PiperChapstick · 09/04/2016 09:14

YABU. Celebs put themselves, and in many cases their personal lives, in the public eye. They can't expect only praise and adoration.

Jeremysfavouriteaunt · 09/04/2016 09:14

I like ST, it's usually quite funny and I don't think that SC would give a flying fig about the ramblings of some bored mumsnetters.

bakeoffcake · 09/04/2016 09:15

And you've now highlighted the board you hate to many people who have never seen it.

Well done for thatGrin
